He will be in the Ritz Carlton in Moscow with plenty of doctors saying he is unfit to stand trial before the FBI get close to him.
As if he needed to go that far. Blatter is a Swiss citizen, as long as he doesn't leave Switzerland he's untouchable.

If I was stood in the middle of a rain storm and Jack Warner told me it was raining, I'd still only half believe him.

So our Culture Secretary says we are ready to host the 2022 world cup. Very presumptuous considering the 2018 world cup is based in Europe.

I think another bit of his speech said precisely that.

Qatar have so far spent $200billion on their world cup preparations, I'd lol so hard if it was taken from them.
Thats a lot of money for a county with a population of only 2.2 million.

They could of given every single person in the country $90k instead and it would of done more good.

There are more people live in Manchester than Qatar, that is how absurd this bid is.

are we about to witness the greatest unintentional comedy of all time....

United Passions: Fifa financed film that paints Sepp Blatter as a hero set to be released in US amid corruption allegations

The film, which has been largely financed by Fifa, includes Blatter predicting 'the whole machine's going to blow up'

"Everything I've done up until this point has been for the good of football," says Tim Roth in the trailer for United Passions.
Roth is, of course, playing “the trustworthy and wholly honest” Sepp Blatter in the 90 per cent Fifa financed film that tells the "heroic" tale of how “three deeply ethical men” created the World Cup - so its IMDB page reads.
Even though the film debuted at Cannes a year ago, on 5 June it will finally be released in US cinemas - just in time to take some of the heat off the $150m corruption scandal currently engulfing the organisation.
The trailer alone gives a sense of just how ironic the film is. Roth-as-Blatter says: “The whole machine’s going to blow up, and me with it,” while a woman later tells him: “You’ve been betrayed, you’re going to prison".
Fortunately for Blatter, the whole machine may have blown up and he may have been betrayed, but he is yet to have any allegation put against him and has managed to remain president of Fifa - for now.

Blatter won re-election amid the worst scandal to hit to football's governing body in its history Elsewhere in the film, a fictionalised Blatter says to Fifa executives: “The slightest breach of ethics will be severely punished”.
The film then ends with Roth super-imposed onto genuine footage of Blatter lifting the World Cup with Nelson Mandela in 2004 after South Africa won the bid to host the 2010 tournament.
Of course it does.

Tim Roth, who plays Sepp Blatter As you may have suspected, the film barely touches on any foul play by Fifa, with many accusing Blatter of financing the film as a ‘vanity project’. After all, it has been suggested he demanded changes to the script.
Even the star of the movie, Roth, was wary of the film. He told the Times: "I was like, 'Where's all the corruption in the script? Where is all the back-stabbing, the shady deals?’ So it was a tough one. I tried to slide in a sense of it, as much as I could get in there."

So, why was the film ever created? Primarily because Fifa was able to fund £16m of its £19m budget – the equivalent amount of money it put into its 'Goal' programme, which supposedly helps develop football in poorer nations.

Adidas have said that the corruption is creating a negative image for the game and Fifa Perhaps the organisation foresaw the accusations of corruption would come to light and wanted to prove that it really is an honest company, founded on a passion for the sport?
Considering that the film has only taken a mere £125,000 at the box office so far, having gone straight to DVD in France, and already been shown on TV in Italy, there appears to be no financial incentive behind its release.

There is no way they have spent that much just on WC related stuff - most of it would have been spent anyway as they are building entire new cities out there from scratch.

Interesting to see how far they go, I'd guess these bent FIFA officials are in some cases just bagmen for corrupt politicians/rulers.
It definitely goes further than just football in some countries - Warner himself is an MP in his country and several FAs around the world are pretty much government organisations.

I can't see how the WC can go ahead in Russia / Qatar IF it is proven that corruption / bribes took place to secure the event.

How can a 'New, Clean Fifa' promote a tournament that might possibly be tainted by the old regime. In a way in would be harsh on Russia and Qatar as they won the bid playing by the rules that were given to them and I can only imagine Putin's face if England and then the US got to host the WC.

However, surely the only outcome would be a new vote.

And those cities really are just for the world cup. There are predicted to be more visitors during the world cup than there are Qatari's. All this construction is simply to house them, the infrastructure for such an event just does not exist in any way shape or form.

Out of curiosity, where exactly does funding a film about FIFA/Blatter fall within their "non profit organisation" mandate?

Come to think of it, Tim Roth is actually the perfect actor to play Blatter seeing he has experience playing an expert on Lying and Deception.

What were the vote margins? Did England lose out by a hair's breadth?

Edit: Looked up on Wiki; England obtained only 2 votes. Jesus.

I don't believe they spent that much even if each stadium costs 5 billion, I really don't understand what's the reason to host a World Cup there, they are going to lose a lot of money and their nation will not gain anything with the new stadiums

Not true at all - they are building roads, metro systems etc and most of it would have happened regardless of the WC coming. Of course there is plenty being built specifically for the WC as well but nothing like the numbers people are saying. I was in Qatar last year and seen it all for myself.

Vanity.

Gulf Arab leaders don't care for economical astuteness or the wellbeing of their people. For them its about splashing ludicrous amounts of cash on grandiose buildings, sporting clubs, and events. Its essentially one large-scale dick swinging contest amongst them.

They invest a lot in research of new and long term viable energy sources, they are looking to the future. It is largely the reason that they are intertwining themselves in Western culture, as they seek to protect themselves from entities like ISIS.

Who knows. I'd like to think their little facade crumbles down and all the monarchs go back to being desert nomads, but the reality is they've already secured enough investment and development from multinational corps to make them get by ala Singapore.

This made me laugh. If anything ISIS have the likes of Qatar to thank for their incubation.
