Linked with this guy and looks decent on the video !!
Do we take a punt if available ??

Not convinced he's at the level we should be aspiring to reach.

I'm pretty convinced he is. Unless you subscribe to the Madrid mindset that you can only be sure a player is quality enough for you if they're considered the world's hottest prospect and cost you at least £60m.

Nothing to do with that. Carrick is better than him, and I'd say Herrera is too. I'd rather someone at a higher level than them if we sign a midfieldefr.

Herrera cannot possibly be compared to him. He's a different type of player. Much better defensively and stronger. The type of guy LvG is, if stories are believed, looking at.

If you're looking for a central midfielder of that type who performed at a higher level than him last season you'll struggle. Vidal, Modric, maybe someone from Bayern. Certainly you'd have to pay £40m plus to get anyone better, whereas Naingollan would probably go for £20-25m.

He's nothing like Carrick so the comparison is pointless. He's a little like Herrera but with much more emphasis on the defensive side. They probably produced equally good football last season, although Nainggolan did it all season whereas Herrera only showed it for three or four months (more Van Gaal's fault than his own.)

So McCarthy vs Nainggolan

Who is better?

Nainggolan, comfortably.

Nainggolan, a level above McCathy in every aspect of McCathy's game and has more strings to his bow, Nainggolan is my 2nd choice for a no8 to Vidal, who's a differant animal altogether, the perfect around midfielder

he looks to me very similar to Herrera, allround box to box midfielder with great engine and capable of scoring goals, perhaps stronger and more aggresive defensively, although Herrera is extremely underrated defensively but is a little bit lightweight to Naingollan, on the other hand Ander is better with the ball and surely more creative. I'd say Naingollan is cross between J.McCarthy and Vidal on a level between the two. Not sure if Naingollan could play no6 but he looks to be a playr who would complement Herrera well in possible two man midfield but I am not regular watcher of Seria A so I might know shit..

For me it's Schneiderlin > Vidal > Schweinsteiger > Naingollan > McCarthy

I think he's a very good player and would be perfectly happy with him.

And he's 100% fit too which other players we are linked with are not ...
Bastian schweiny
Vidal
Strootman
Gundogan

I saw his game last Sunday against France in Paris, and I was absolutely impressed by him. He played as a number 6 in the exact same system that we’re playing in 4-1-4-1, he was very impressive.

Technically he’s very good and for a small guy he’s impressive in terms of aggression. He covered his players very well defensively, even if sometimes he was caught off position because he seems to be a bit attracted by the ball, and I think that he’s only 24 years old, so has an outstanding potential I thought.

If you give me the choice between him, Gundogan and Schneiderlein, it would be between him and the Saints player. The Belgian is far more technical when Schneiderlein is more disciplined and would add physical presence.

If we’re in for a technical midfield, with Herrera and Mata, then he’s a top target.

Nainggolan is one of the best box to box midfields in Europe today and has picked up where Vidal left off last season....not that Vidal has been bad, he just hasnt been the same force he used to be before the knee injury.

LVG seemed to have his heart set on Strootman, but with all his injuries that makes as much sense as Vermaelen.
If LVG's system requires a box to box midfielder, Nainggolan should be one of our targets.

Why compare him to Carrick, they're totally different players. As for Herrera, they're on par, I'd say Radja's defensive play is a bit better too.

As I said in other thread Roma is trying to buy him permanently so I doubt this deal will happen.

That's a confusing term, it sounds as if he was just on loan there but in reality it was a co-ownership. Would it not make sense for Roma to buy his full ownership if they plan to sell him?

They're trying to buy full ownership to keep him. :)

Nainggolan is a similar to vidal, he's a very good player id love us to sign him.

He's box-box

Never stops running the full 90 minutes

Can chip in with goals and assists

Is a great tackler and reads the game well

26. Still, it's a great age for an industrial central midfielder.

In my opinion, he is as good as Schneiderlin, I would prioritize the latter because he is younger and loves England.

I haven't seen too much of him but I feel like he's being hyped up quite a lot. Was watching Belgium vs France the other night and while he looked fairly good, he didn't in my opinion look as good as other players we've been linked with. However people seemed to think he was exceptional in that game.

Another thing is he's been playing regularly in serie A for about 5 years, now I don't really watch serie A but he's only come onto the radar of football discussions about a year ago at the age of 26/27. I don't see how a player can go for a virtual unknown to world class in about a year.

Looking forward to seeing him play against Wales on Friday. I will be at the game so will be good to see him as it's easier to judge players live.

He's been highly rated by Serie A fans and experts for several years. Very few have seen the likes of Schneiderlin outside Premier League fans. Who knew Herrera other than those who watched La Liga? You could use the same reasoning against them.

I've been wanting us to sign this guy since before Roma bought him from Cagliari. Really solid all-around midfielder. Just too bad our scouts can never find these guys before they make their move. Always have to pay way more.

Have we actually been linked with him by anyone non-bullshitty? All I've seen was some link in the MEN that didn't actually point to anything real.

I quite like him.

From what I've seen Allan is better. He'd also be cheaper.

If you watched Juve play this season Vidal is now a poor man's Vidal.
Nainggolan is the future in terms of box to box midfielders.
Poor man's Vidal in that he's vastly inferior, or has the potential to be up there?
