As much as I love our Nev, Andy Gray would have been perfect as the 2nd commentator after that goal. His commentary on the Giggs goal in 99 was the best bit of commentary ever for me.
He was fantastic, Sky has never replaced him. One of my favourites is Rooney vs. Arsenal. "Did we doubt that this young man could control it, and thrash it past the German number one, like this? I don't think anyone in the ground doubted it." Brilliant.

I don't think I can get tired of watching this.
Stuff of legend indeed. :D It has been way too long time since Tyler had something to get excited about with one of our goals.

Every time I watch football on any other channel but Sky, I keep asking myself how and why Andy Gray has not taken back his place in a commentary booth for whoever is hiring him. Considering how the quality of colour commentators is really low once you get past Neville in the English-speaking world, Andy Gray's gotta have a job somewhere.

I guess he is considered a persona non grata in the TV companies.

That was a great moment, he doesn't get like that often when we score.

Down Under.
Got a fun experiment for you all, go back through the annals and listen to all the commentary from 10-15 years ago. It is actually hilarious to hear how downbeat and sad a lot of the commentators sound when we go down and are romping back home to win.

I doubt that bit of commentary will ever be topped. There's a video with just the numbers 1999 on a background with that commentary and the crowd playing and I still get goosebumps everytime.

I admit, I've had a bit of an agenda against Tyler in the past. I've always felt like he's wanted us to fail in certain matches, and even banged on about former players scoring against us. But after that MARTIALLLL, I have to say, I'm sorry Mr Tyler, seems like you don't hate us!...

...at least not as much as I thought you did..l

It'll be a sad day when he retires. There are only two other commentators that I like; one is Peter Drury and the other is from BBC world service that does live commentary during Sports World.

I think commentators are like refs, everyone thinks they've got it in for them.

Another is his commentary before and after Ruud's penalty against Arsenal (The one which ended their unbeaten run). It gave me goosebumps.

I especilly miss Andy Gray :(. That combo of Tyler and Gray was something else and I doubt anybody will ever top that. Especially not those fake excited idiots Jim Beglin and Peter Drury.

He's an excellent commentator. I roll my eyes at those always bitching about him hating United. There are probably more examples of his great commentry over the past 25 years for United than any other side. If he doesn't rip his shirt off and squeal people act like he has an agenda against United.

I remember when Gerrard was sent off against us last year. Tyler went "OH NO" when the ref stuck up the red card.
I don't think it was an "Oh no" in the sense Liverpool are fecked but more that Gerrard ruined his last game vs Man Utd for himself.

I don't get when people accuse commentators or being biased against their team, most the time thye seem neutral. If a team like Norwich goes a goal up against United or something theres bound to be come kind of reaction from a commentator as it's unexpected, I doubt he's dead happy United are losing.

Tyler's an Arsenal fan, I do believe. Remember him sounding slightly gutted when Welbeck scored the winner against them a few years ago. Great commentator though.

Tyler loves a narrative, nothing more. He's always excited when something exciting happens, people just have confirmation bias.

He supports Woking. People just assume he supports any team he has a positive reaction to.

Clive Tyldesleys commentary in the 7-1 against Roma was pretty good
Was just about to say this. Clive Tyldesley is the best British commentator around IMO. The commentary for the 3rd goal was epic "Magical Manchester United"

This is my take on it. Nothing wrong with it either.

Martin Tyler is absolutely not an Arsenal fan. He really dislikes us from what I can tell. I'm fairly certain he has sympathies for Chelsea because he basically pushes Mourinhos agendas down your throat for 90 minutes when they play but then again it might just be that he is a gormless, spineless twat when it comes to Mourinho - just like all of his Sky Sports colleagues.

I think this is my favourite united game. Man I miss the football we played back then. I can't remember what it feels like to absolutely crush a team with electric football.

He usually just reacts more to the home team scoring than the away. I don't understand what people find difficult about it.

Can anyone find the commentary for Rooney's CL goal v Barcelona? And Rooney HAS EQUALISED FOR MANCHESTER UNITED!

Can't remember the commentator.
