Manchester United are stepping up their interest in highly rated Leeds midfielder Lewis Cook, sources have told ESPN FC.

Cook is regarded as one of the best young talents in the country after catching scouts' eyes in the past 18 months.

The 18-year-old, who has been dubbed "the next Paul Scholes," is on the radar of all the Premier League's big guns, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Cook made 38 appearances for Leeds last season and was named Championship Apprentice of the Year at the Football League awards.

The England under-18 international has made 13 appearances so far this season and established himself as a key member in the Leeds side.

He hardly score any goals and he doesn't talk crap. How can he be dubbed the next Paul Scholes? Its like calling Welbeck the next RVN

Looks like an English Isco.

Always relish an opportunity to piss Leeds fans off. Sign him up.

Ritchie and Cook ESPN have linked to us recently then. Woody must be leaving Neymar until the summer. In fairness Cook looks good in that clip. That Chris Wood goal was class.

A worrying lack of physical presence. Almost as bad as Di Maria.

Decent passing stats when you take them in comparison to his teammates. He looks like a Spanish midfielder more than an English one.

Smith and Rio were sold when they were in desperate financial need and in Rio's case we paid a fee that noone else in England could've matched.

If the likes of Chelsea and City are also in I'd assume Leeds would prefer to sell to them than us.

We are in the age of player power and if the kid is smart he'd see which team is keen on giving young players a shot at the first team out of the 3.

As for the player himself, a friend of mine who supports Leeds said back when Shaw was injured and we were linked with their young LB, that he doubted that one happening but believed all the big clubs would be in for Cook in the next year or so.

The new Liam Miller.
Miller would let the game pass him by. Cook, on the other hand, already has 3 yellows in only 13 games this season. That presents its own problems, but it should be an easier one to solve.

Don't think you understood the joke you numpty.

0cm, 0kg = nothing

What about Byram? He was rated highly in the past and if I remember well he's heading towards the end of his contract

cook and mowatt are 2 that are ready for premier league experience not sure they're good enough for a top club though.

I've heard he looks like a Spanish midfielder

I'd love this just to piss off all my Leeds supporting mates

Hope we get him in January as he still be 18 so when he's 21 be classed as club home grown which is important for Champions league
