Ha ha ha who the feck is actually interested in the Europa League?
Many clubs are, and better should. You can acquire quite a number of points for your UEFA coefficient* which are also very relevant to your country coefficient. (In fact, there are only 3 points less to grab for the winner of the EL as compared to CL). The more English teams don't give a feck, the sooner Italy will grab the 4th spot from England. I'm looking forward to thread titles which include "top 3" where today it reads "top 4".

Furthermore, the winner gets automatically qualified for the Champions League.

Very short-sighted to disregard the Europa League but some may need to learn it the hard way.

* Edit to add: United is currently 19th (as in nineteenth) in the UEFA coefficient ranking.

It was cross cross cross with no one there......your over reacting based on a draw tonight.
I'm talking UCL, not his domestic cups performances.
Moyes did fairly well there and with a bit of luck he could've beaten Munich in the 1st leg .

Didn't say we are.
At this phase, Moyes was top of the group and our football at Old Trafford wasn't this bad.
You have a different re-collection than me. The Moyes team not only could not string 3 or 4 passes together, got beaten by a lot poorer teams than PSV.
LVG may still top this league.
Still something missing, but you can see by the movement of the front guys in the first half that LVG obviously wants them to play that way. Why they stopped god knows.

Jesus Christ are you actually saying Moyes was better? Based on afew cup games?

Where is the will to win? I know a few players who have played professional football and amateur football. The one thing that sets them apart from other players was their absolute desire to win at any cost. LVG has sucked our players dry of their natural competitivness.
This, after a weekend when we scored a last minute goal to win a game. Anyway. Poor performance not doubt, and LVG must see that there is a clear link between Rooney starting and our poor performances.

Yes I'm saying MOYES did better job in UEFA champion league particularly.
Not saying he's the better manager. What's so hard to understand about it ?

So it looks like having to miss this game saved me a world or frustration. Sounds like dire stuff, and a poor result too. I'm pretty concerned about our Champions League progression now. Thought we'd wrap it up tonight for sure.

I wish LVG would put on striker in games when we really need to score.. Why have Wilson in our squad if he doesn't want to use more strikers than Rooney and Martial?

Olympiakos away was worse than anything LVG has seen.
ridiculous. that was one leg, and we turned it around in the return match and advanced.

plus, you're ignoring the fact that that match was in the knockout stages. at this rate, LVG will be lucky to even get there.

There's a league to be won. The top dogs in it are all nothing teams compared to the standard of Europe, so there is hope.
True. I think it's more realistic that we win PL than that we win in Wolfsburg

Sky Sports saying we'd drop out with a loss against Wolfsburg. Obviously that would be a disaster but surely if CSKA beat PSV we'd still progress in second place?

Yup, if CSKA win we go through regardless.

PSV are a really really poor side, so it's not out of the realms of possibility.

Honestly though, how the Feck have PSV taken 4 points off us? They would finish, at best, about 10th in the premier league. When we're bad, we're REALLY fecking bad.

Yeah it's a bit mystifying. I suppose the game out in Eindhoven had extenuating circumstances, but we should really be beating them every time at Old Trafford... they were well organised and aggressive in the challenge, but they had absolutely zero quality.

Thought we were okay tonight. Rooney poor again and martial spurned a decent chance or two and wasn't really looking like a 9,more like a wide player. Frustrating when one or two decent balls were put into good areas and nobody was there. As an aside, rojo can really cross a ball.

Depay faded pretty quick but had a few decent moments. Really will need to be nurtured along.

As rooney said in interview, all we were missing was a goal. Losing schweinsteiger was a huge blow but we need to manage his game time at some point, and we should really have had enough to get over the line. Still badly need a 9 and realistically need a 10 if we ever want to go through the middle.

Thought so. Darn journos.
United's position is actually not that bad. If you win, you're through anyway.
If you draw and PSV don't win, you're also through.
If you lose, PSV must also lose for you to go through.

6 out of 9 options are in favor of United making it to the KO stage.

It's just nice to have it in our own hands still. A loss tonight would have been disastrous, and could easily have happened. As it is, if we drop out we can have no complaints.

I thought we were the better side at theirs and should've been out of sight by half time at ours. And yet...1 point. And don't even get me started on the substitutions!

Well I couldn't wait for our return to having Champions League nights at Old Trafford.
All four games have been absolutely awful to watch.

We deserve to go out.

We've been absolutely appalling in Europe this season.

What does it have to do with being just one leg when you only want to compare European results? This was only one game and we can still qualify.

Good thing is we will respond well and win against leicester and were gonna beat wolfsburg or cska will do us a favour. Stay positive people. A draw isnt the end of the world.

We need a second reliable finisher. Martial is destined for greatness but he's still a teenager and can't be counted on the way, say, Barcelona can count on Messi or Suarez. On nights when it's just not going right for Martial we need a second striker who can finish so we can take the points on the back of an ugly 1-0 win.

That was supposed to be Memphis but he's gone tits up. Rooney is past it. And Lingard still has diapers on and may not be the real deal.

I am shocked at how we could go from dominating first half to being uber slow and show zero urgency in 2nd half.
It is as if we ate something real bad in the break.

I don't see us beating Wolfsburg away, not on the evidence of last night and our away performances under LVG. Its not that we cannot beat them, we can beat PSV too, but we didn't. I really hate the lack of urgency. Our players just stroll around casually as if there's nothing to play for, this is what I hate most under LVG. Its like "keep doing what you're doing, you'll eventually win" and it doesn't work that way, I want the team to go for it. I hate how we make EVERY team look better than they actually are. I think we're going to the Europa league, this team under LVG is both predictable in play & result pattern.
