My happy place. Where I kill more than time.
I've only just gotten to level 70. To be honest I've not really been laying attention to stats at all. If I see a weapon or piece or armour with green arrows I generally equip them.

I'm reading about toughness points at the moment, is this something I can level using paragon points?
You can improve your toughness with paragon points. You can invest them in either Resist All or Armor. But it's not really that much you get from paragon points. For 100 All resist you'd need to get to paragon level 99 for example.

Also I think that the toughness stat can be a bit misleading. I think Life is overvalued in the toughness calculation. Stats that mitigate damage (allresist, Armor for example) are IMO more valuable than Vitality or %Life.
Of course you should look to get some amount of Life but at some point it gets too much (weird as it sounds). Overall you should look to get a good balance between Armor, Allresist and Life.

What really boosts your damage after getting to level 70 is trying to get a good critical hit chance (40-50%) and critical hit damage.
Critical hit damage should roughly be 10 times your critical hit chance (for example 45% critical hit chance and ~450% critical hit damage).
That is also the reason why people only use weapons with a socket and a green gem (which is the first gem to be upgraded to max quality) in them because they boost your critical hit damage (a decent gem gives you over 100% critical hit damage) massively.

I'm now at WD lvl 45 something. Mananged to get rid of Diablo and now rift farming ebfore moving to Malthael.

Running out of rift stones. Whats the best way to farm them?

They have bloody cuddle bear rifts. Played my first one yesterday and it was weird. You have teddy bears attacking you and when they die their head rolls off. wtf?

Okay, can I just make sure I'm getting the most out of this ATM? I'm still very early into it but I'm just playing story mode on my own. It's really fun, but I just get the impression I'm missing the point a little?

I just went into a tomb with bats that build walls in front off me, the cnuts, and it was the hardest thing I've have had to deal with so far, but I still managed it fine. Got myself a rare crossbow (apparently) as well as loads of other shit.

You are not missing much. It's a relatively simple and linear game. Level up, build character stats, upgrade weapons/armour, fight super bosses, progress through the storyline and that's it. Once you get conquer Diablo, the rifts/adventure mode etc gives alternatives to hold your interest.

Okay. When do I go about increasing the difficulty? Shall I not before for story mode? I'm level 9 now.

You need to start ramping up the difficulty, as soon as it's simply too easy you need it up it

I played for ages without having a clue, but yeah start messing around with your different powers you get from levelling up and equip new weapons. Most the stuff you find lying around is good enough. Keep the orange and red weapons and armour, the blue and white stuff you won't really need soon enough

Harder levels give more powerful items, but then it's harder to clear the monsters. There is no hard and fast rule regarding changing difficulty, but if you are going through monsters easily try the next difficulty...and if you are getting stuck, drop a level. After all the fun is in killing them. Once you get fully attired with rare (least magic) items, attempt the higher difficulties.

You will be tempted in rushing through the story, but take the time to farm. Reveal the full map, clear all dungeons etc. This will be crucial as you will get good items and not reach the stage bosses too quick underlevelled and get slaughtered there.

Which character are you playing? If you have time, try couple different ones before you progress too much.

Figure out the primary attribute for the character you are playing (Strength for Barbarian etc) and get items that enhance that. Rest are crucial, but primary attrinute powers you through. Weapons, amulet and rings to be loaded on primary attribite, armour and pants for toughness, helm for reisistance etc is a very rudimentary guide for attire. Get things which help you overall, but in some cases if you can take one attibute gretly enhanced if the others are get downgraded in minor.

White > Blue > Yellow > Gold wrt to attire. Don't think you'll run into Green's now. But they are set items and if you more of same set they give set bonus.

Just finished my session. Really good fun! Reached level 11 and upped the difficulty to hard, and just beat the Skeleton King. I actually died! Managed it the second time though.

I picked Demon Hunter. I'd be tempted to try another before I get further in but I'm kinda into this at the moment. I have been revealing a lot of the map though. In the cathedral before the skeleton king I spent aaaages clearing it out.

Is it better for me to just drop blue/white items now? I have some yellow ones building up and one red (maybe it's actually orange, if they exist?)

Go by the stats. Usually Yellow/Gold items have more properties, but certain blue items are really good in initial levels. I would still prefer a strength+damage loaded blue weapon for a Barbarian to a yellow weapon with multiple other properties. It is a balancing act.

played diablo 2 LoD for 6 years, was so hyped for diablo 3, throughly enjoyed it for a few weeks, made 140 quid on the ah, then just stopped. you get to a point where you want something to work towards, a lure to keep you going and it just isnt there. then reaper came out and the same happened. theres no equivilent to WoW raiding or arenas, or even the endgame for diablo2 which was the pvp. a game has to have an endgame or it just fizzles out. Its a really really good game, but isnt something with infinite replay value which is the lure to most rpgs, as long as you go into it with that mindset you will get more than your moneys worth.

So should we be trying to setup a game amongst us? I've got a (non-season) level 70 Mage that's reasonable, but I've never done Torment runs with it. I've just started a seasons Witch Doctor and I'm about level 15 at the moment playing on pc. Anyone out there fancy getting together for a run or two?

What an amazingly addictive game!

Some random demon thing killed me in the Field of Misery and when I respawned it wasn't there. Wtf was that about?

Sounds like a nemesis enemy (one that killed a friend then joined your game).

I'm addicted to this again, running rifts and generally just playing through adventure mode at lvl 70 is so addictive, especially when you get in a good 4 man group. My wizard is almost full legendary geared now I just need to tweak some stats and get my gems to the highest level, although most of my gear us missing crit so I have a long way to go in terms of getting the most damage output (currently sitting at 500k).

It's a shame this game didn't come out a few months ago, imo it's a must have the amount of content is insane, I paid £50 and own the PC version and I still don't regret it. With Blizzards support this game will be played for ages yet, I reckon after all the new titles have come and gone, Diablo will be one of a few that I play on a regular basis.

For the first time since owning a PS4 I'm tempted in getting a Vita for remote play as well, I think farming monsters on Diablo 3 while watching the TV will be great. Anybody played Diablo remote play? If so how does it perform.

I don't have any friends :( The name of it was "Killer of: 'my character'" though, and he had a fallen demon hunter with me. The screen also did some cool flashing thing with some sound before it spawned, which was pretty cool. Made it a little intense. I only died because I back flipped into a huge group of enemies while I was battling it...

I spawned at the last checkpoint when I died, but when I entered the Fields of Misery again it wasn't there.

I just read up on nemesis monsters and it seems you are right, it describes exactly what happened. I literally don't have a friends list though. I created a brand new xbox live account (not intentionally) when I got my Xbone, so it's literally just me!

Is it more efficient to kill stuff fast on torment 1 or just move onto torment 2?

Start playing again yesterday for the first time in months and loving it. Bout 6 hours without a single upgrade is kinda annoying me tho

It really is, the best part is that the game could last for years with Blizzards patch support. Currently sitting at 800k damage on my wizard and I'm just starting torment 4, it's a shame Destiny is out this week really, I could happily devote all my gaming time to this.

I still don't actually know what I'm doing either! I keep selling and salvaging items that I should probably be holding on to...

Currently level 23 and just got to some Leroic's manor thing, which I'm assuming is nearing the end of act 1?

Don't worry about storing or saving items until lvl 70 unless you find something that will be really useful for other characters

@shaggy is right you don't really need to keep items until you're lvl 70.
Exceptions would be legendaries for other classes and non-class-specific weapons with at least those affixes:
primay affixes:
Main stat (one of str, dex, int)
Socket
secondary affix:
lower level requirement
Weapons with lower level requirements and a socket are really strong below level 70.
In act 5 on you will get a follower like the blacksmith etc. which can reroll the main stat on that weapon to the one you need when you level up another character with a different main stat.

I played a bit earlier. Despite having much much better gear on my Wizard than my Barbarian I found doing Torment 6 so much easier on the Barb.

Will start season 2 soonish. Barbs are great fun but very risky on hardcore (lost mine just a day ago).

I'm thinking about monks as their kit is very strong out of the box while you level and gear towards end-game.

Patch 2.2 is live, and fixes a lot of problems I had with the game... Well, the big problem I had with the game - Build diversity!

Over 20 new legendaries, more than 30 reworked legendary items (re: a lot more useful than before), 3 new sets, reworked old set bonuses, some quality of life changes (looting one gem loots all in a small radius around you - Say goodbye to RSI).

It's pretty awesome right now. The patch is live on both PC & console :)

Not played this for a few weeks. I might jump back in this weekend.

Last time I played I finally got my Witch Doctor to level 70.

I'll be playing tonight with some old WoW buddies.

Think I'm going to make a Monk, last season I was DH and I've already got a Wiz and Barb.

Not got into it this season, got my Monk to 70 but not been getting the enjoyment to face doing and rifts to gear up.

Not sure if I really enjoy Monk. Might wait for people to start power levelling and pick another class, already got a Barb but might do one again.

So I bought this the other day and i'm impressed by how they've managed to develop the game since D2. I stupidly went for a Barbie but she is crushing everything in her path. Rifts are a good giggle.

I've not played in a while, but if Diablo 3 launched in its current state back in 2012 instead of how it did, it'd be at near all-time great status by now.

I picked this up recently too on ps4 when it was 60% off on the store. It actually handles really well with the controller. It's a fun game to chill out with once in a while.
