This game highlights my points all along about Mata and Memphis. When you need a guy to step it up - Memphis has the ego to take over. Mata simply doesn't have the bottle for this kind of game. Very similar to Berbatov - all skill, no desire.

    Because he missed a pen
Sorry, but my observation isn't just based on today's performance. He is not good enough and he just can't drive a team forward. He doesn't possess the skillset of someone like David Silva so he cannot afford to act like such a jellyfish. I just don't see enough fight or hunger in him, he is too nice.

    surprisingly enjoyable game!

Memphis on fire, Rashford looks decent and hungry, all the possession our way. Can't believe we let them score after dominating!

If there's an important moment in a game you can bet your life on Mata messing it up.

If it makes you feel better... I'm fairly sure our penalty misses under LVG haven't cost us the game more often then not?

What's the story about being horny?
LVG thought it was the thing that was missing from the team in his pre-match press conference. Apparently they are all still suffering from the droop tonight too.

Owen seems to think that penalty kick had 'a bit of pace on it'. It fecking bounced before reaching the keeper for chrissakes. Gawd he is useless

We seemed to wake up after conceding. However we do look like we will create more clear chances. My worry is will we be able to keep them out further?

I went to make a pot of Tea before the kick-off and when I came back I saw Rashford on and scanned desperately for Martial. :(

I think we've done ok considering the stitched together team we have, our 2 CB's were flat footed for Sisto's goal be he has very good footwork. The penalty miss is annoying though, could have sent the team in on a real high.

Midgetland are so shite it's unfunny. Still find it hard to score against them is quite sth.
Memphis has been good. It was clear it had to be him today. He looked on fire. Everyone else has been a bit meh. Herrera looked quite ok I guess. Mata as well apart from that pen. Lingard was awful.

Mata barely ever scores when it matters. Good for a third goal when you're 2-0 up but he's not a big game player for me.

This is actually a very encouraging game. It's showing that Memphis isn't actually 100% shit.

He's just shit 98% of the time, he just needs to start nudging that ratio towards the non-shit side of things and we will have a hell of a player.

If Mata scored that I think we would have gone through, just can't see it happening now though unless we grab 1 early.

Unable to watch it lads, how we playin?
Young guys - Riley, Rashford and Depay looking exceptionally good - particularly Depay who's putting in a captain's performance. Herrera and Mata non existent really. Schneirderlin have a decent game in midfield.

Yeah, it is not like he scored two brilliant goals against Liverpool in the race for top 4 last season.

Some of you lot need to have your ability to retain memory tested.

    In an apple vacuum...
I was annoyed when we out of the Champions League, but can you imagine if we'd scraped through behind Wolfsburg and been given a team like Barcelona or Bayern? Messi, Suarez and Neymar would rack up a cricket score against Carrick and Blind tonight.

They look bobbins in this, certainly goals to be had for us. Up to and after their goal I thought that we were comfortable, that one piece of comic defending. Sub Mata/Lingard for Pereira.
