Aftee today's gutless performance it's got me thinking about just how much deadwood we have in our squad. Some were already here before LVG so this isn't another LVG thread bashing. Some have been good servants to the club but over recent months have contributed to our poor form.

As I couldn't find a similar thread, I'd be interested to know who in out current squad you'd keep going forward from this summer under hopefully new management.

David de Gea -providing we can keep hold of him despite Madrid interest
Victor Valdes- under new management he could be more than adequate backup
Chris Smalling- our best defender
Luke Shaw- one of our most talented players, I look forward to he's return
Bastien Schweinsteiger- more so for experience
Morgan Schneiderlin- recent performances have been good after taking some time to settle
Ander Herrera- used properly he can be a key player
Juan Mata- a luxury player but fear under Jose he may be sold regardless
Adnan Januzaj- bit like marmite, I like marmite
Memphis- has all the talent to be a star player for us, needs a run of games
Anthony Martial- doesn't need an explanation.

These along with the youngster such as Marcus Rashford, Guillermo Valera, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Andreas Pierera, Axel Tuanzebe to name a few to fill out the squad.

This would leave us with a lot of going outs in the summer and most likely a few incomings but for me these would be the players I'd keep at the club.

Over to you.

To be honest I'd keep most of our players - They would make the bed rock of a good squad. What we need is a new first team.

I'd get rid of Valencia and Rooney. Everybody else has an argument to be part of a balanced squad.

Valdes's contract is up at the end of the season, isn't it?

The manager and his coaching staff should be first out of the door. Unless that happens don't trust them to sign the right players.

Not including the kids.

KEEP

De Gea
Memphis
Mata
Martial
Januzaj
Smalling
Blind
Herrera
Shaw
Morgan
Valera
Bastian

So 12 players, and only a few of them are at the level we should be looking for as a starter. So much averageness in our squad.

Fellaini, Valencia, Young, Jones and Rooney can go. Carrick must retire.

I would get rid of Jones, Rooney, Carrick, Mata, Romero, and Valencia. I don't think we need to get rid of that many players. The squad ATM is too short so we should be looking to add more than clear out.

I'd keep most, offload Rooney,Valencia, and one of Carrick or Schweini. Buy a defensive midfielder, a creative midfielder, and a striker, and we're sorted.

Id give Rooney and Carrick testimonials then let them leave if they want or let them retire.
Id probably move on Valencia, Fellaini, and possibly Jones for his sake.

Id then be looking to buy the following for first team:
CB,
CM
RW
CF
+ for Squad
RB, CF, 2xCB, 2xCM

Seems like a lot but I really think its needed.

LVG and his coaching staff have to be out the door first.
I'd like to see the rest of the team under a new coach as almost everyone looks like crap under LVG.

Rooney, Jones and fellaini have to go tho.

Other than Rooney, Valencia and Fellaini I can't see a lot of our squad that needs cleared out. Time might be running out for Jones if he can't stay fit. Otherwise the rest of the squad is quite good when fit. We need a center back and a top winger/striker (depending on where you see Martial playing) that can step right into the first X1.

Jones should get some medical training and become a doctor. He's always in the therapy room anyway.

lets all not get too gung ho about getting rid of too many players. Our problem partly this season is we don't have enough players. Ok some are past it. But lets make calm decisions.
I agree the squad is short but it's also short of quality. Like the saying goes quality over quantity but we don't seem to have a lot of both.

I'd get rid of Valencia, Rojo, Carrick and Fellaini for sure. I wouldn't be heartbroken if any of Jones, Mata, Lingard or Rooney left either.

Edit: Forgot about some of the younger players who should go - McNair and Blackett.

Jones
Fellaini
Rooney
Carrick
Lingard

I would say Mata also and no this isn't a overreaction from todays game. As I posted a few months ago that we should look to cash in as moments like Wednesday are too few. He's a passenger a lot of the times. We need someone a bit more dynamic.

I think a lot of people have said we have the makings of a good squad but in the main have forgotten to buy a first team.

Out: Rooney, Carrick, Fellaini, possibly Young & Valencia too
In: proven striker, Monster DM, Monster CB & anyone else we can get

Have DDG kidnapped until summer t/f window closes

Januzaj needs sorting out as well, decide he is going to play (not 10 is it?) & apply huge rocket up the arse, accordingly

I'd rid of Rooney, Jones, Fellaini and possibly Carrick and Valencia. Get a CB, striker, winger, CAM and a CDM.

EDIT: Blackett and Powell out too.

We just had two massive clear outs two summers in a row at some point we have to stop that kind of turnover. We can't keep buying and selling 10-12 players every summer, the team will never settle and gel.

Personally we have some good young players with potential and other decent players in the first team now who should become squad players and bring in better to replace them.

I would keep the majority of the squad Jones, Fellaini, Carrick, Valencia and Darmian would be my picks to get moved on. No more than that.

We need an RB, CB x2, RW, CM and maybe another back up striker.

Darmian can piss off too.
Yep

Definitely Jones and Fellaini. Would personally flog Lingard to some league 1 dross as well. Get in a top centre back, right winger, 25 goal a season striker and Mourinho and we're on for another treble. Piece of piss.

Sir Alex won plenty with players such as Anderson, Cleverley, Park, O'Shea playing in midfield. Problems lie with management than the squad.

Fellaini, Young, Valencia, Carrick, Jones, Rooney, Lingard - Out

Rashford, BoJack, Varela, Pereira, Januzaj, De Gea, Smalling, Shaw, Blind, Rojo, Darmian, BFS, Schneiderlin, Memphis, Martial, Mata, Herrera, Romero and Johnstone.

Buy a top class RW/Fwd, CB, CF, CM - my choices Mahrez, Laporte, Griezmann, Gundogan. We'd be sorted.

Sir Alex was not human that is why. He got more out of players than any other manager could.

Rooney will almost certainly be here next season.

I'd flog Fellaini, Valencia and Young for sure. Though there's few in the squad I would be gutted to lose.

He knew exactly how to manage his players, who to give a hug to, who to kick up the backside. He backed them to the hilt and they repaid his loyalty.

Rooney absolutely needs to be gotten rid of. With his contract, the 'business' side of the club will make Ed and the manager feel impelled to play Rooney through another string of 0/10 performances. We need a new player to lead the front line.
