Post-match discussion

I can't really understand what's happened during the break. We've been more or less fine in the first half and turned into utter shite in the second. What the feck was he doing to them in the locker? Calling them all cnuts, pulling their hair in sex or showing them Twigginater's posts?
Id rather know what he's doing before the games these days to get us playing so well in the first half

100% agree, it's pathetic.

I wouldn't even use the word 'fan'. 'Hangers on' or ' parasitic leeches' seems more appropriate.

Our struggles the last few years have really shown up a lot of our fans.

On the game, really disappointing. Actually the last few years Our end of season games have had this weird feeling of sleepwalking through it. Takes some getting used to. Great opening, we looked really good but after their goal and the second half it was like we'd lost all energy
Seems it takes more than 3 season to get them all leave.

Right fecking on! Screw them and their Leicester love in!
Ready for bed Martin. Yes I am Mrs Tyler, an exhausting day. I hope you're not too tired Martin wink wink. You minx Mrs Tyler, would you indulge me. Oooooh Martin. Would you put this Leicester City jersey on and let me suck your face in to this vacuum for a moment to give you a Jamey Vardy look. Oh Martin, you complete me. And you too Aguero, sorry, Mrs. Tyler.

Those reactions regarding LvG pulling reporter`s hair ,i would drag his ass a cross a room caveman style.

Result: Whether or not the draw depends on what mentality you have. If you're under the impression that top 4 is over and Leicester are a fantastic side then it's a good one. For me not winning this match is disappointing, we were better than Leicester today but we failed to change it up quick enough to have any effect. I don't think we'll get top four anyway but we won't do if we can't finish off teams at home.
Performance: I think in the first half we were reasonably good. We moved the ball quite quickly, scored a good goal and in general looked dangerous. In the second half we should have come out with some changes though, we struggled to break down Leicester and if anything didn't even look like we wanted to win at times; we were going through the motions.
If I was a Palace fan I wouldn't look at that performance and be worried.
Players I thought did well: To be honest I wasn't overly impressed with anyone for either side. Martial's goal was a good one but other than that he was as wasteful as the rest of them today. It really, truly infuriates me watching him get the ball in and around the box and taking far too many touches so the chance goes begging. Martial could be some player in the future but he needs to improve massively in this regard.
I thought Carrick wasn't too bad, but when every Leicester player is behind the ball and his job is to pass it to the players about 5/10 yards away from him I'd expect no less.
Rooney didn't do to bad either, he played some nice passes but overall his performance is nothing to write home about.
Players who I thought did poorly:
  • Lingard: I really thought he was poor today. His end product is laughable at times, this season he's been so wasteful and it's a shame because he gets in all the right positions. If he could cross, pass or shoot he'd be a world beater, but I don't think he will ever be able to improve enough to be a good player for us.
  • Rojo: This is an obvious one, lost his man twice in the box, one of them resulted in a goal and he was lucky not to concede a penalty. Roll on Shaw's return.
  • Fellaini: Now I do feel sorry for Fellaini in some sense, because his task in the side is to get into the box and wait for the crosses in to score or knock it down for someone to score. However, there isn't really a player in the squad capable of crossing and he's not much use at anything else so he just ends up stood there doing nothing. I will be surprised if he's here next season.
Opponents performance: Well it was typical Leicester during the second half of the season. They defended for their lives and I don't blame them. Personally I don't rate a lot of their supposed excellent players but you can only applaud them for their desire. I think Chelsea might beat Spurs so they might have done enough today. If I'm being totally honest Leicester really shouldn't be winning the league though, they're not that great. Fair play though if they do, I promise I'm not just jealous!

Played well until they scored. The players can't play well for 90 minutes, and IMO, that comes from the manager.

Typical United performance, under LvG, after a couple of wins. We started the game with the foot on the gas pedal, showed urgency and intent and even got a goal this time. After 20-25 minutes, when the opponent has settled in tactically and has figured out where the potential dangers are, the spaces always become smaller, the passing becomes more and more labored and the lack of vision and quality turn the initial urgency and intent into confusion and disappointment.

The truth is we have struggled to open up defenses much worse than Leicester's who have mastered the art of defending in their own box this season. I think we did a good job at keeping Mahrez out of the game, generally we defended well in open play situations but we looked far from convincing in dead ball situations. Can't even remember a single time when our players got tot the ball first in a Leicester set piece. It proved crucial today because Leicester's goal came against the run of play and it was a psychological blow for a team like ours which isn't famous for scoring many goals.

After the equalizing goal Leicester really grew into the game, they won a couple of dangerous free kicks, pressed a bit higher and they looked like they had led the game where they wanted to. They could have completely turned the game around before half time too, if Oliver had awarded Mahrez a penalty for Rojo's challenge on him. Anyway, they felt like they could easily hold onto the one point for more than a half and, in the end, they were right.

About LvG's post match comments that we played well and that we created a lot of chances, there's no need for people to get mad at him anymore because from his own point of view they rarely threatened us (which makes the defensive plan right), we got both FBs plus Lingard and Rooney numerous times on the ball in between the lines (which means one final pass away from a clear cut chance according to the philosophy) but we lacked the cutting edge that is required to turn these good opportunities into real chances... Thus his latest quotes about having done the best he can with this squad...

I really do hope the board will look towards a different direction at the end of the season. It's clear as daylight that it can't become significantly better under LvG simply because his brand of football isn't compatible with this particular squad.

Oh for the days we had an Ole or Teddy to come on as a striker, instead we have a winger/come striker who bottles out of things. The rest of our strikers were already on the pitch, two kids and an old man playing in midfield.

You'd be slightly disappointed with the result if you were a Leicester fan. We never really looked like scoring and as always were flat and lacked movement or energy in the final third apart from the opening 20 mins.

Season can't end quick enough, serious changes in personnel needed.

Absolutely thrilled with the result. Over the moon because no top 4 for us. No desire from that useless tripe of a manager who said we needed to win our games to get top 4.

Hope he has Rojo carry his bags back to Portugal.

Pathetic.

What's the general view regarding Rojo's challenge on Mahrez? It looked like a penalty as much as the Drinkwater one on Depay did to me.
It could have been give, I guess. Though it looked he just run into a standing man. I'm not aware of any rule that requires you to move out of the way.

Btw, can Sky or even the FA give Tyler a 3 match ban for that "Christian Soldiers" comment ?? :wenger:

No need for a Chicharito, eh? He's only scored 28 goals this season. Why'd we keep someone like that?

All of the above:lol:

Chicharito would be useless. Look at how many chance we created all game. Feck couldn't create a chance for Rahsford all game and he has good movement. We could as well have prime RvN and still couldn't score with way we played the second half. Can't whip a good cross into the box.

WTF with Lingaard being the one playing highest when we counter attack from their corner? He is not fast, strong and clinical enough. If it was Rashford for that foot race we would have a chance there. Feck terrible management.

We blew it today. Our 2nd half performance was shocking and our players were pathetic at every Leicester standard situation. I can't believe we didn't win or show at least more intent and determination in the 2nd half

Where the feck is the PL thread ?? Man City are losing... we still have hope...

Did he actually tell them that a win was a must, or just not to let Leicester win the league at our ground?

Constantly hoisted ball towards Huth and Morgan all game, it was never going to work. We need more of a target man striker for games like this.

No. Just someone who can cross the ball properly, and fielder who can play through the middle, know when to shoot when to cross field when to through ball... So almost everything.

Crossing doesn't mean high ball, a good cross along the ground could cause serious trouble. Our midfield play like shit. Side passing and when there is opening thorugh the middle just messed up the passing, or hesitate to shoot.

I've wanted us to play more through the middle for literally years. We can be so predictable, just shifting the ball around the edge of the box until somebody has enough inches of space to put in a shitty cross.
