Very disappointing 2nd half

Leicester were running on empty for most of it and we couldn't take advantage

Zero creativity in the 2nd but 1st half we were mostly excellent

Good games for carrick and Valencia and first half all played well except Rojo

Hate our football under Van Gaal. I hate his smug, content face when we put in such gutless performances even more though. Not looking forward to another season with this clown.

Simpson being a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. Hate that myth where if it's not a penalty then it's a dive.

U-N-I. T-E-D. United are the team for me*!
*subject to terms and conditions, like whether I like the manager. I'll still complain if/when the club misses out on big name players in the summer due to the lack of Champions League though.

Your point being?

I can't even watch the post-match chat - and I quite like Leicester - just can't handle listening to a single word that LVG spouts. It'll be way worse than the tinnitus ringing during the game, although the notes will be just the same old dross.

Is there a precedence for hair pulling punishment?

Fallaini should have got red, but it was still a reactional elbow, when Huth was pulling him back grabbing his hair.
Sourness said Huth was "Lucky". I thought bloody hell, something positive from the one eyed cnut … until he went on to say … "Lucky he's still got all his teeth. Felaini will definitely get a ban that's not even a question.":lol::lol::lol:
never lets me down!

I can't deal with our lack of leadership and fight off and on the field. This is not Man Utd. Losing or going through a transition is one thing, but I want passion, total commitment and fight from my team. Please MUFC board, we can't have another season like this.

LVG, Rooney, Rojo, Fellaini, Herrera, Lingard out pls

So Mathematically speaking, how far away are we from losing out on Top 4 ? van Gaal will probably still last till the end of the season and not get the Moyes treatment, but FA Cup(hopefully) whilst a great cup to win is never good enough for United.

On the game,
Pro's
  • Great start to the game. We were easily the better team for like 20 mins.
  • I thought Carrick and Blind were our best players and if I am being a little generous, maybe Fellaini. Blind seems like a very good replacement for Carras when he calls it time. That said, this game should have seen Schneiderlin start.
  • Created quite a few good opportunities, especially first half.
  • Well, that's about it.
Cons
  • Rubbish second half performance.
  • Not one player really impressed the game. Just a lot of 4's and 5's.
  • Poor Substitutions from van Gaal. Even someone like me can see that Mata will never get a sniff in such a game. Memphis should have come much earlier on and Rojo should have been subbed at HT.
  • Should have got a Penalty for sure. Dunno why Oliver thinks it's worthy of a second yellow but not a penalty. The initial contact took place on the line or just inside it.
  • Rubbish rubbish of a second half performance.

A bit better than average from us this season. Still not good enough. Two years in and we still lack balance and have some bang average players getting a lot of minutes for us. We do have a lot to be optimistic for with the way some of our young players have come on at the end, but we also have a raft of older players who still need to go.

Martial has been great for us but still needs to work on his all around game for me. His passing is not great and he could do with working harder and being more brave.

Rashford has been another spark, but if I am being honest in large swaths of this game you forgot he was playing. He has earned the right to stay and fight for a starting spot but has not convinced me that he can take us back to the top. Hopefully he will continue to improve.

Jesse. Love his heart and desire but for me he lacks enough quality and composure. I also think that at his age if you were truly good enough you would've already proven it.

Both CBJ and TFM give reason for optimism.

Rojo has been abysmal. Our player scouting the last few years has been poor and I think this one takes the cake. Just looks lost and unable to contribute positively at either end of the pitch. Will be nice to get Shaw back into that position and see if that helps us.

Rooney and Carrick are just going to be one year older next season and both need replacing. Clearly Bayern Munich knew what they were doing when they let Bastian go. Herrera and Schneiderlin have not impressed enough, either, although it could be said that both have wilted under LVG's system. So, that is the heart of our midfield that needs replacing. Another massive overhaul required and I don't think this manager has shown that he can pick the right players.

Mata. Not a right winger, that is for sure. Never did well at #10 either. Is not brave. Cannot tackle. Cannot defend. His sprint speed is not a lot faster than mine. Not sure what he gives us other than the occasional moment of brilliance in the middle of huge stretches of nothing.

Been pleased with Smalling and Blind. DDG is obvious and we have to keep him from going to Madrid but you can be sure that he will consider leaving again without CL football. He is one of the top 2 keepers in the world and won't want to waddle with an average United side who got worse in their second season under their new manager. Not a good trajectory for us and would be a major loss.

Valencia is a nice squad players but that is all. Darmian hasn't shown that he is up for it either.

Just makes my head swim to look at all the deadwood we still have to move along after spending so much money. Top 4 is realistically gone and I hope that no matter what happens in FA Cup our board and owners get rid of LVG. He has failed just as badly as Moyes, who was provided far less money and time, so I am not sure why this situation is any different.

More of the same, really. A decent start to the game. We even got an early goal, which has been a rare thing this season. After that, it followed an all too familiar pattern. A weak goal conceded. Slow, unambiguous passing. Very little off the ball movement. No cutting edge. A stunning lack of urgency. A worrying lack of leadership.

The second half performance, in particular, was very disappointing. In a must win game at Old Trafford, we showed such little desire! It's hard to watch at times. There's no way the club (including Sir Alex and Sir Bobby) can watch that and feel it's acceptable, or that we're moving in the right direction.

That's top 4 gone. We have no chance now. Too bad, but if we're being honest the team's performances aren't deserving of a top four spot.

We could have won this, really unlucky not to have full three points.Lack of quality players at crucial positions not helping us either.I don't understand the point of crossing into the box once Fellani had gone.

Good performance, credit to LVG we are the best side in the league vs the top team. Leciester didn't really play like a top team today but probably shows how much we dominated them and snuffed out any chances they had, bar our usual set piece panic.

Most fans won't be happy because they feel we are entitled to win every single game by 5 goals, but they are likely people that are stuck in the past and don't realise that we have been good this season in these types of games by anyones standards.

Need some more bite up front and sadly when martial plays as absent mindedly as he did today we don't have anyone else to stand in and be consistent

Leicester didn't play well b/c they lacked that outlet option in Vardy, who troubled us last time we played them. They also sat back and clearly played not to lose because they would win any war of attrition against the Spurs at this point and can afford to draw. We played well first 20 minute then reverted to type the rest of the game and we could not break down the Foxes who sat really deep. We had an average performance at best. It's unbelievable you are still crediting LVG. No we do not expect to win every game by 5 goals but do expect us to be comfortably in top 4 instead of wondering if LVG will still be here even though top 4 looks pretty much like a pipe dream at this point.

That after cheering the club not making the top 4, I hope you won't complain if/when player X turns the club down due to the lack of Champions League football in the summer.

Obviously in frustration on my part because I am desperate for LVG to now be gone and if this result is the one that sees him get the boot, then I will cheer the result to no end. Guess I am not as great a supporter as you - oh well.

What's the general view regarding Rojo's challenge on Mahrez? It looked like a penalty as much as the Drinkwater one on Depay did to me.

Probably a fair result performance wise but the lack of fight at times is criminal.
I often wonder which is worse in this United team, the lack of fight or creativity. You can almost forgive the second one if there is at least plenty of the first but United lacking in both, sadly.
A team that is mediocre, but that at least gives its all on the pitch isn't great to watch, but at least you can appreciate the effort, if nothing else.

Yeah, brilliant. Ensuring a manager who, at most, has a year left at the club getting the boot is well worth us missing out on players who'd be here for the next 3 to 5 minimum.

Absolutely thrilled with the result. Over the moon because no top 4 for us. No desire from that useless tripe of a manager who said we needed to win our games to get top 4.

Hope he has Rojo carry his bags back to Portugal.
Jesus wept

Right. But in the middle of all this righteous outrage, let's not forget whose fault it is that we'll end up outside the top four. Hint: It's not Shimo's.

We were quite solid at the back but completely gutless going forward. A point rescued by Martial yet again.

BORING BORING BORING

LVG and Rojo can ride into the sunset in Portugal. They need to go as far from our club asap.. Please just get this over with.

I blame the fans. In fact let's attack them instead of...well...having a pop at the manager and players.

Final 4 minutes sums up LVG.
Must win game 1 man down, still no desire to win.
I just hope he gone now.

I've watched it a few times and am still unsure. It was from the Vardy school of run/jump into contact and in real-time I was surprised he didn't get booked for diving. On the replay it looks much more like a penalty, particularly as Rojo tries to play the ball with his left foot, misses and catches Mahrez (as Mahrez jumps into him)
