Smalling nor Blind would displace either of them.

Smalling has plenty of mistakes in him, and Blind isn't a CB.

Doubt it would happen, but if is a possibility the opportunity must be taken. Blind can't header the ball at all.
 
It's not really up to United. Players don't leave Real Madrid unless they're literally shoved away by Perez. They seem happy enough with him so he's going nowhere.

I didn't say Smalling nor Blind was better than him, just that he isn't better than them. It'd be a risk and a half to sign him, he's got talent obviously, but he's not an immediate solution to our defensive woes.

I feel that he hasn't progressed as fast as it was expected from him. He definitely isn't the hottest CB prospect at the moment (Gimenez is), but he has absolutely outstanding athletic qualities - like Smalling or Ramos, who are both fast and very strong, 1 on 1 and in the air.

Can't see Madrid selling him unless they sign someone on his place - Pepe needs to step aside at some point, he is 33 already. Not a critical age for CB, but they need to slowly integrate a younger player in the team

I think Marquinhos is the better player and would prefer him. Beggars can't be choosers, though.

Sounds about right.

In any case, there's not way Madrid sells a player like him until their ban is decided upon by FIFA. The only player they're bound to sell is James (Mendes working already on it).
