What would be considered a successful tenure under Jose Mourinho?

Successful would be two league titles, and one CL Semi. With the money available and his previous success, this would be a pretty decent return.

A trophy a year, one of those trophies being the PL title.

Since he will be here for 3yrs only it will be fine if he can win 1 x PL and most importantly develop a handful of youngsters from the Academy

Developing at least 3-4 ACADEMY players on top of Marcus, TFM, CBJ and Jesse
If that's all you wanted, LVG would've done that.
We'd have got 4-5th place, while blooding youngsters (basically what Spurs used to do).

Jose has been brought in to win.

Always be in top 4 challenging for title, win it once in a while.
We can't expect winning it as often as we did under SAF, but once every 3 years or so, and close the other years, and i will be happy enough.
Some decent runs in the CL and FA-cup.
While playing attractive football.

Think a club our size should always challenge for the title and play in the CL, like Barca, Real, Bayern, Juventus, etc.

Challenging for the title this season.
Title win within three seasons.
Two good Champions League runs (at least quarter finals)
At least one FA Cup.
Getting the most out of our promising youngsters.
Getting rid of Rooney.

I'd be a very happy chappy if he fulfilled all these.

bigtime: Prem title first year followed by two successive seasons of AT LEAST CL semis
smalltime: keeping Liverpool off their fecking perch
If he gets to spend big money (and right now, the media are reporting World Record bids for Pogba and Neymar), then I'd expect the above.

Why not?

Because there are more good teams with alot of money and good managers now, and SAF was once in a lifetime manager, that we probably won't see again.

Simple requests Jose, try and adhere to them please:

-No Philosophy, whatsoever, I'm happy for you to use the words project, plan, game-style but never again a PHILOSOPHY!

-I want to see exciting attacking football again. GOALS GOALS GOALS PLEASE!!

-Become one of the top 2 teams in the league, which in my opinion will between City and United. I don't expect Leicester or Spurs to maintain their league form with European commitments, and 1 League title in 3 years, however not a sackable offence if we get mighty close for 3 years.

-When we get back to the CL a QF or SF exit would be a fantastic achievement in and of itself with this squad in those 2 years.

-Hopefully by the 3rd year he has rebuild the squad into a world class team again ready to challenge the very best, unfortunately the reality is as much as we all love United, we are no where near the level of Bayern/Barca/Real even teams like Juventus and Atletico have become somewhat powerhouses since our mini-demise. We no longer seem to be a destination club for top talent and not many players in our squad are even sought after by top teams because they are not top players, sometimes it feels like i'm watching 6-7 players out there trying to be "United players", surely it's time for us to again be the powerhouse we were under Jose.

At least, now we have a manager who shares the same ambitions as the fans. Personally I would be pleased with top 4 and visual progress next season.

You can still win games whilst developing young players. Spurs are actually playing young players now than before and are showing progress
