Blaise Matuidi

We were interest in him while Moyes was here, right?

I'm not keen on him.

Much better box to box options available, and much better holding midfielders available.

Having seen him live a couple of times my view is that he's generally an unspectacular all-round midfielder that can do it all but rarely actually excels. Better working from deep with occasional stints of carrying the ball out on a breakaway.

Has tremendous physical attributes but at 29 we risk being on the wrong side of them. That said his fitness is still more reliable than most of our team.

Not fussed about this transfer. Rather we gave Schneiderlin a solid chance.

He might very well be in England, but not necessarily to talk to anyone at United. Perhaps he's in talks with Chelsea and we're after Matic?

Isn't City more likely?

If PSG do sell him I would expect them to bid very big for the Pog.

Would prefer if Schneiderlin was given a chance to prove himself.

This would not be a good sign of a Pogba deal getting done - and I would much prefer to give Schneiderlin another chance

Think he would be an excellent signing. Don't really mind that he's 39 years old.

Is this really happening? Came out of nowhere. I hope it is not at cost of Schneiderlin.

They've already bought Krychowiak, who will most likely play alongside Verratti in midfield.

Matuidi for Schneiderlin is a non brainer. Much better midfielder that has at least 2-3 good years in him and would be an upgrade on what we've got.

Given the posts above mine might be an unpopular opinion, I've always rated Matuidi though. He is a solid midfield player who will be able to pick up the Essien/Khedira role that Mourinho likes to have in his midfield's. He may not be Modric on the ball or Mascherano off, Matuidi combines a lot of a positive attributes though. Wouldn't be against the transfer at all. If he's off to City that'll be a bit of a shame. Gets around the pitch much better than Fernando or Fernandinho.

Looked to have a fantastic understanding with Martial in France's friendlies in preparation to the Euros.

Could still be us given Eds HQ is in London.

United
Arsenal
Chelsea
Tottenham
West Ham

So it's going to be one of those five you'd think. West Ham probably doubtful but they are throwing silly money around. Tottenham do need midfield reinforcements and if that story about Mason is true then they do have some extra cash floating about. Doubtful Arsenal would go for him given they just signed Xhaka, could be Chelsea if Mikel is off.

Not likely to play the same role are they?

Schneiderlin would be deepest in a midfield 3. Matuidi usually box to box on the left of a midfield 3.

Not 100% but that's what I thought.

They have bought Krycho, but they don't have many options and only really Pastore at 10. Would be v surprised if they were not heavily in for the Pog to play in front of Krycho and Verratti.

I can't belive that he is travelling to England when there is a game in 3 days. Where is the reliable source?

If he is off to England for talks, that's a big if, Spurs or Chelsea seem most likely.

We sign Mathuidi and means most likely PSG will get Kante rather than Chelsea.

I think it could be 'under the radar' signing for midfield I was talking about couple of days ago with my hand. He pretty much is Mou's midfielder too, isn't he? A bit like Ramires in a sense.

I'd imagine the squad were given today off after yesterdays win.

If he is flying to England he'll be back by end of the day.

Absolutely no chance this is true with France still being in the euros.

From Pogba to Matuidi?

Why do you think it's from one or the other?

From what the press are saying, it is quite clear Edd and Mourinho want to make a big signing. I doubt signing Matuidi will mean that we not going for Pogba.

I don't get this mentality.......he's had a year......didn't impress. I cant think of (m)any senior players who had a mediocre season who then improved to a standard by which they where seen as good enough.

Evra and Vidic took 6 months but they joined mid season and from abroad. The likes of Ronaldo and other youngsters obviously improve. But players like schniderlin and fellaini and even berbatov.......who come in from premiership teams either hit the ground running.......or essentially fail. I think Blaize matuidi would be an instant upgrade on Schniderlin, Fellaini even Basti and Herrera.

Pogba won't go to PSG at this stage of his career. Would make no sense. The Italian league is stronger and he plays for the best team there. Sure money would be the reason, but it's not something we can't match. If he goes to PSG(given they don't need to sell as well) that's 4-5 years at least he have to stay there.
