He's a donkey at this level. Never going to be United quality imo.
I don't think it is that.

He is very much like Vardy, he can only really be properly effective one way, running into space behind, and with teams sitting as deep as wigan, he simply doesn't get the chances to show that side of his game.

His problem will be , of course, that we play so many games where the oppo sit deep like this, he simply may not ever be the striker for us at the top level.

TfM is definitely not a right back. He looks uncomfortable going forwards and needs to play centrally. Looks very limited out wide.

Mkhi proving that he is very comfortable as a 10.. I think its his best position but if Pogba gets signed we will have to use him out wide.

Lots of possession but similar to LVG's reign, not much threat. Mkhi Looking sharp, Memhpis looking better than he did for most of last season which is encouraging. Bailly looks pretty good too.

Only concern is I think Shaw might not be over his injury Psychologically. Seems to be very cautious with his left leg, hope he gets crunched in a tackle to show him he can still take a hit tbh.
He broke his right leg

Have we been conned on Memphis? This guy has had time to reflect on last season and really hit the ground running. I know it's only the first 45 but it's Wigan and he has shown nothing.
There is a nice path for young English players. Move to The Netherlands and turn it on over there instead of struggling to get time with a premiership club. Play well, fool people in to thinking you are a world beater, get signed by Arsenal or Chelsea or us for 25 mil and 140,000 a week and relax. The fast track.

We don't have enough of the first choice attackers available and as a result we've created few chances. Hardly a surprise given Wigan are playing a 6-3-1 formation.
Mkhitaryan looks very good. Got to agree with the concensus that Wilson really shouldn't be anywhere near our team.

I liked that half, we could have used better finishing but overall players were really up for it and positive. Memphis needs to be calmer, he looks like he is too eager to impress. I like that shaw went in for that challenge with no issues at all, very good for his confidence. The midfield played well too. A little sharper and we would be 2 or 3 nil up.

Missed the first half. Could someone please give me a brief summary. How's everyone doing?
Good possession,
2 clear chances (Mkhi,Depay)
Mkhi looks good, Herrera decent, Lingard and Memphis meh, Wilson on the periphery.

Does anyone have a reliable, HD river? Mine is stop start, it's giving me a headache now.

Maybe I am being harsh. But James Wilson does not look like a Manchester United striker to me

Finally some actual football.

High tempo passing, always skips a player if the option is available, LVG must have instructed the players to pass to the closest player at all times just to be safe.

We must have had more forward passes in this first half than any game last season.

Pretty pedestrian game so far. Understandable really considering this is just a warm-up game. Bailly showed glimmers of his skill and confidence in driving runs up-field. Mkhataran was ok but we didn't see anything exceptional from him but he had a golden opportunity on goal and fluffed it.

Ref: awful. We deserved at least one pen and didn't give us any free kicks.

Vardy can run at players too. Wilson has done feck all to justify the hype. He's the poorest potential star we have hyped up in recent years.

Positives for me are that Shaw is back and he's looking comfortable out there, and the two new signings look like they'll fit in just fine.

Not much point in giving Wilson anymore game time, he's no where near good enough.
I don't think he has taken a shot on goal for United since his two goals three seasons ago.

Irwin sounds like a polite Keane.

Mkhitaryan definitely our best in first half. Lingard's been good imo. Herrera doing well and Carrick doing a solid job in the deeper role. Loved that piece of skill by Bailly. Memphis has been really poor even without mentioning his terrible miss from Mkhi's cross. Wilson's been pretty poor. Not making good runs. Overall, decent first half.

Mhitaryan is the real deal. Wilson maybe not.

That's about it really. Oh, Bailly did a nice trick
He never was and probably never will be. It's just the fans getting dizzy about their local youth product as per usual.

Sorry, LVG?
