I haven't watched the game but a quick look to the stats give you an impression that the defense literally collapsed once Rojo started to play. Is that true?
No. We were 3-0 down in the first half which was a lot more one sided than the second.

While those pre-season games mean feck all (last season being a prime example), it's incredibly funny to watch players like Memphis, Jones and Lingard play like absolute fecking shite today. I mean, the whole team was naff but those three managed to stand out somehow. Pseudo-striker who slows literally every single play and can't outpace anybody; Lingard, whose workrate I do admire, who's fecking casual with his shooting (that shot from around 18th yard when he could easily take the ball with him for a couple of yards more) like he scored thousands of goals already and then Mr Jones who's a perma crock with very little defending ability. Wasn't it for his 'athleticism' and 'last ditch tackles' he'd be stuck in some fecking circus thanks to that hair and footballing ability.

Then we've got Rojo who somehow managed to look even more incompetent than Jones getting put on his arse against a 19 year old kid, just like Boateng was put on his ass by Messi, quelle comparison. I mean yeah, those pre-season games mean nothing in terms of results but those players, who had question marks over their heads thanks to last and not only season(s) should be working their fecking asses off in order to somehow fool Mourinho that they are remotely useful. What they do instead is just prove what we've known before - they're simply not good enough for the job. You can't really say 'nah it's early days for them because X' because people like Jones and Memphis were fecking embarrassing last season and now the trend continues. If they can't step it up in probably the most important phase of their potential United career then there's absolutely nothing that would suggest they can step it up later on.

I'm glad that Bailley looks very good imo, the best of the bunch. Good assist from Mata, glad for Miki's goal, not sure about our midfield again because it didn't work either offensively or defensively in truth. One good pass from Blind for the goal, a lot of running and short play from Herrera but that's all. Early days in terms of the whole squad and system, sure, but it could be pretty much it for some of the players if they keep performing like this.

Some teams seem to play quite a few games more locally against lower opposition before the go off on these jaunts, so the fitness levels are further along. Would we be better off doing that, rather than sending players out to punishing conditions too early? Just curious.
Agreed, I think Dortmund started their preseason training only 4 days before us, our own fault for not using our time better if we're going to use the friendly matches they played as an excuse.

Disappointing results-wise obviously but we can all appreciate that pre-season isn't exactly paramount as far as matches go. Yes they tend to be a money-spinner in far-off countries that will pay hundreds just to see the team play just once in their lives but if anything, the pre-season is all about giving games to fringe players looking for a way into the first team, younger players looking to gain some important experience and impress the manager, and newly bought players who would want to have some time to get used to how the team sets itself up as well as get used to the way their teammates play around them. This isn't much to worry about at the moment, just one of those games where things don't go right and the other team was just better prepared. At the end of the day, it's better to get these bad results/performances out of the way now so we don't have too many during the normal season.

Might be another MK Dons type result for a few of the lads out there today....

Tough conditions, but a good bit off the pace some of our lads were. Shaw but in a decent shift from what I saw though, just drab up front.

There's only one United!
Borussia were quicker on the ball and seemed as if they have already started their competitive season.

Must admit that I'm very disappointed with our play and I think we need another defender because Bailley is not that good imho.

I thought Blind and Herrera were the worst players on the pitch. Completely ineffective, and let Rode and Castro dominate the midfield as they saw fit. Blind's only saving grace was his involvement in the goal, Herrera just brought in nothing at all.

Yeah you're probably more objective than I can be, we were pretty much dominated there in truth.

I'm at a loss as to how you can think that from what we've seen of him.

This thread has been brilliant. So much overreaction, moaning and crying for a preseason game.
Can only imagine what will it be like when season starts.

Guy who was on about some preseason game myth was an absolte hit.

 Bailly was one of the few decent performers out there. Jones and Rojo were absolutely awful and Valencia was so mediocre. We need to bond as a team and get rid of the dead wood.

Depay too. His level is Sunderland/Norwich-level clubs. Hope we get rid of him soon.
Depay's level is the Eredivisie and he should be consigned back to it soonest, even if it mean taking a massive hit on the cash front.

Wow! And the award for Post Of The Day goes to.....
Perhaps he paid to watch the game and spent a couple of hundred on a new kit to watch it in or something.
Mind you some supporters do take badly seeing their team humiliated in that way, even if the match meant nothing.

I agree with the first paragraph.

For the second: calm down a little bit.
I'm perfectly calm. Look man, I shouldn't have called you a schoolgirl as I like Dortmund and have nothing against you, but your posts are way too wum-ish at times. I haven't followed this shite thread very closely, but maybe you shouldn't let some posters provoke you that easily, and vice versa.

Way too much drivel has been spouted on here on the back of a meaningless friendly.

Absolutely, Bailly and on occasions Shaw and that's it. Even Shaw looked a yard short sometimes and not too rugged in the tackle but we'll put that down to rustiness I think. Rest was just substandard.

Only just seen the score. Not too bothered though, Vangle's first pre-season taught me that lesson.

Pre-season... :boring:

I'll start judge us from the Bournemouth game and onwards, anything before that is training.

That was brutal to watch, but I'm not worried at all. The playing conditions, the fact Dortmund is way ahead in their fitness and had more firs teames makes the result unsurprising. If anything all the running the boys did chasing the ball will do a world of good to their fitness.

People need to really calm TF down if they are bitchin' and moanin' about this result/performance , it is a pre season game to get rid of the cob webs and increase fitness levels! Dortmund are already on their 4th game of preseason? Quite well prepared already, they were always going to be fitter and sharper than United.

Don't worry, Zlatan.....

The result isn't that important, but the performance of some players is worrying.
Rojo, Jones, Memphis... And Yorkey was right. Lingaard's finishing is very bad

You beat a team you are going to wum the opposition fans. Banter like that is a big part of football. Learn to suck it in a pay it back when they lose a game.
We've gave him hell about stealing Mkhi off of them he is entitled to his pay back.

By the way if any of these players do well they will end up at either United of BM next season anyway.

This. Many of these players will not see minutes during the regular season.
Look at the starting back 5.
Johnstone - won't get any first team time
Valencia - We're still playing a winger for RB.
Bailly - Just signed.
Jones - Hasn't played proper football in 10 months.
Shaw - Back from a serious injury.

In addition, I'm pretty certain Blind will not be our starting DM, Mata will not be our starting AM, and Depay will not be a striker.

Did not see the second half because the steams all went down.

Dortmund players played out of their skins as they want united to buy them. Its as simple as that.

Woeful result. Ok they are much further ahead pre season wise. They have already played 4-5 matches and their fitness levels were higher. I know we were under strength but for me that is the worry. Our squad players are not at a competitive standard for me. I wouldnt lose any sleep if we never saw Valencia, Rojo, Jones, Lingard, Depay wearing a Utd shirt again.

Any news why Forsu Mensah wasnt involved? Injury?

He has a problem where Valencia is concerned. Does that mean Darmian will now be his starting RB or is he going to sign one and Darmian be backup. Where does that leave Valencia?

we're really scrapping the bottom with those two. I think if Prunier was part of this this generation then he would fancy his chances with those two around

I don't care about the result, it is all about getting fit, trying out the tactics and sorting out the dross.

But for players like Depay and Jones, these are the ones they should show they have quality to turn around their United careers, if they keep fecking about and continue to be the worst performers in any game, then please there is the door.

I'm aware of the fact banter plays a big role in football, thanks. It's just the banter I like is more witty and less drivel-y.
