What exactly does Fellaini offer ?

He's often a scapegoat and sometimes it's not warranted but today is one of those games where you ask yourself "exactly what does Fellaini fecking offer the team" ?

Rashford and Lingard are playing as full backs because Fellaini goes forward and can't get back, Pogba has to drop into midfield from 10 to help Herrera as Fellaini doesn't move back to his position, he can't control the ball, his passing for anything longer than 5 yards is woeful, he's weak despite his size and slows us down as a whole.

The difference between Fellaini starting and Carrick starting is outrageous and I'm starting to think Carrick must of been caught with Jose's misses as there's simply no answer for how Carrick doesn't start despite our best performances this season coming with him starting AND Pogba playing his best games when also alongside Carrick.

Nothing. He offers absolutely nothing.

This is his 50th start for Utd. How depressing.

The game plan for him to start went out the window after 30 seconds, be worried if he's still on when the second half starts

He's a decent but not great player. We've got so many Everton level of players. No wonder we can't complete

He became useless ever since we conceded that first goal. I'd be surprised if he's not replaced at half time.

He played well on Monday so if Mourinho wanted to play the same way then it made sense to start him. To change the position he played is bonkers though. We have much better players we could play further forward. As a whole I've always thought he was shite but some people on this forum get very precious about it.

Brawn. Personally, I'd take brains (and talent) every time.

He can win a header (although Coutinho beat him in the air against Liverpool)

I mustn't be watching the same games, he's fecking shocking and I said so pre match to which 3-4 people replied claiming he's been good so far this season. I watched every game so far and not once as he been better than average, the guy is fecking wank.

I keep seeing this 'he played well against Liverpool' stuff too. Did he really? what the feck did he do in that game?

He offers nothing. His height is useless from corners because he has no clue on how to actually attack the ball, all he fecking does is elbow and kick people. The only thing ill give him is he has good chest control... but thats it.

Defensive solidity and someone who will sit in front of the back four when we are under pressure. Good asset at defending free kicks and corners too.

Unfortunately, his use goes out the window when your stupid center back and left back do that 30 seconds into a match.

Amongst footballing managerial 'Gods'
I have said this before we bought him and there is only a few thing he can offer.

1.) Being a target man like Moyes used him at Everton
2.) An elbow assassin aka as a midfielder who can be useful in breaking up play, however at the cost of playing proper football.

It is funny that I usually do not openly oppose a signing we make but, Fellaini was so obvious that I had to vocally oppose it. I was so sure back then that Fellaini as a footballer is very limited and it seems he has proven me right once again.

He's incredibly effective in the right system, we just don't play that system. He was a force at times for Everton.

Genuinely can't understand what his role is. Herrera is doing more defensive and offensive work than him. All Fellaini does is occasionally drift to the right, try his best to combine with Valencia and then get caught up field when the move breaks down.

Im not a big fan of his. However he's just one of many examples that this squad isn't good enough. We've got midfielders playing in defense, no 10s playing as DMs, strikers playing as wingers. This is ridiculous

As awful as we were today I'm praying that this is finally the fecking wake up call that Jose needs to realise 1. Fellaini shouldn't be anywhere near the starting eleven, 2. Herrera is NOT a defensive midfielder even though he's done a decent to good job, 3. We NEED to play with a three in midfield as we're constantly overrun or the two wide forwards have to play as second full backs, 4. We NEED Carrick in the team, 5. We NEED to start playing a settled eleven and know what our best team is, 6. Stop putting out a negative team in the hope we can nick a point as if we go a goal down we'll struggle to even get a point and 7. Use the pace we do have in Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Valencia and Shaw as there's no point in having players good on the ball or a great range of passing to simply knock the ball about

Does a job and follows instructions, apparently.

Nothing special or exciting, which is what's needed. I'm astounded by how he looks to be in slow motion when the ball reaches him. Everyone around him is capable of playing quick football, however it takes him an age to control the ball and move it on.

Interceptions.

That's it.

Good option to have in the squad for, say, holding on to a lead in the final 5 minutes. Bring him on to waste time and defend corners. Doesn't offer anything in attack.

When he is in good form, he offers what he did when Luiz could've been sent off. Comes out on top in fighting situations in the middle.

Shame he did that once, and something else the rest of the game.

He also offers a presence on set pieces, both offensive and defensive. Usually one of our players that runs the most.

He's pretty much a manager's dream, aside from the lack of talent

Quick lets blame everything on the spacegoat so we dont confuse our little brains.

He's a player often mentioned as tactically disciplined so he wasnt just wandering around being out of position. Just as he wasnt last season when ppl couldn't understand LvG had him doing a certain role.

He's limited we know that but he's had as many decent games as any other of our players this season.

Fellaini is the worst player to put on a United shirt. Worse than Bebe/Bellion/Prunier. Cannot fathom how he gets picked before a 35 year old Carrick.
