Thanks.

And seems something was going on in Brussels as well. Though, appears those were police orchestrated raids.

Busy day yesterday!

Apparently, there were three more "attempted" faithless electors. One in Maine (Bernie), Minnesota and Colorado. Wondering what attempted really means, aren't they allowed to vote as they please?

Can you imagine what would have happened if Clinton was ahead by a few before yesterday? Time to do away with this nonsense. At worst make it automatic. I'd prefer a straight vote though so my vote becomes meaningful.

Pure coincidence Haliburton bid and won the Iraq war contract. And that Haliburton was the only bid despite law requiring three bids. Oh but there are spins from both sides of coin on it being legal/illegal bid process.
KBR (then owned by Halliburton) routinely got those contracts before then.

The Washington ones said they were going to do it before the election had happened as well, even if it was crucial to the result. It's a truly ridiculous system.

 I was not aware there was such a thing as a sore winner.
He's unbelievable isn't he? Can't leave anything alone. Another journalist I follow tweeted back to him about how easy it was for Clinton to Troll him and get him to bite, which is bang on really. It's also very, very worrying. I did find the "lived under power cables" reply hilarious though. Really tickled me.

His level of insecurity about everything from his hands, to who parodies him, to who rates his restaurants, to whether or not someone called him or whether it was him who initiated the call is quite staggering. I can see the public growing tired of this quickly.

It's bizarre. He's spent his whole life paranoid because he's not bright enough to know if people are mocking him or being sincere, if they like him or if it's his money.

He's just won the biggest popularity contest in America yet he's clearly still stuck in that "attack is the best form of defence mentality."

Reminding him of the popular vote often should be entertaining.

Right, he did not win bigly. It must be eating him from inside.
Yup, he Tweeted about that yesterday saying the media can't be trusted etc. Pathetic really.

:( Sad, but obvious from Michelle Obama, she's made it clear countless times she's not interested in the job, but it's a great interview, well worth a read and she really hits the Moron Elect hard too. However, it's doubtful he will realise she was aiming the comments at him.

“People don’t really understand how hard this is, and it’s not something that you cavalierly just sort of ask a family to do again,” she says. “Let me just tell America: This is hard. It’s a hard job. I said on the campaign trail. It requires a lot of sacrifice. It is a weighty thing. And it’s not something that you even look to one family to take on at that level, for that long period of time.” “I wouldn’t do that to my kids,” she says. “Because what people don’t understand is that you run, their lives stop at any age. The next family that comes in here, every person in that family ― every child, every grandchild ― their lives will be turned upside-down in a way that no American really understands. And it’s not for us to complain about it, so you don’t hear complaints. But it is a truth, an actuality, that there is a weight to it.”
It's clear from the Moron Elects comments that he's not up for that type of sacrifice or amount of work, and with his wife and kids not living in the WH for a while, it seems they may not be either. I think they wont handle the jump in lifestyle well at all.

He must have had a terrible, loveless childhood. And I'm not even saying this as a joke.

Just seen this, Gingrich just casually talking about corruption and abusing the powers of the office to get away with it.

There's going to be grumbles from Republican Senators that he's not working hard enough, choosing business interests or TV gigs over official duty throughout his tenure. They will grow louder and louder. I won't be surprised if it's what unravels him.

We've never seen this kind of wealth in the white house?
BS. US Presidents have a long history of being super rich oligarchs.

Gingrich is such a cancer. Simply has no consideration for any broader or longer-term effects of any of his actions or words, will simply look to win whatever game is in front of him at the time. If you made him President he'd probably nuke Russia and China, just to claim that "win" that too.

Yup, me too, that's what I have been saying all along. That and the people turning against him, which they will, albeit slowly, but they will eventually turn. It's already started to be honest, he's losing people each time he tweets or says something stupid. He lost a fair few when he mocked them at a rally last week saying that "lock her up" only sounded good as a campaign soundbite or slogan but wasn't practial or realistic now. He mocked his own supporters but sadly so many didn't even realise it, but they will come round eventually and when they do he will hate it. He's fine now he's on his one man crusade with the power of the people against him, he's turned them against the media and he thinks he's unstoppable and that will be his downfall.

Out of curiosity, who else is there to mount a serious challenge to Trump for the 2020 elections?

A lot depends on how Trump fares over the next 2.5/3 years.

As for as who might run: Sanders, Warren, O'Malley, Biden, Newsome, Cuban, etc would seem like logical candidates. You never can tell though. Someone may come from nowhere, capture the moment and sail to the nomination.

Bernie, Warren, and Biden are a bit old but I doubt that will stop them. Personally I think the Dems need some new, younger blood in the Newsome vain.

If Trump fares as expected, a block of wood should have a good chance.

(make that a male block of wood, since apparently the US are not ready to elect a woman for president)

Conversely, they would be wise not to underestimate him as they just did this year. He will have a massive support from corporate elites, hedge funds, conservative media, talk radio, social media trolls etc.

The Republican party is far from united. Wait for the confrontations to start very soon after Trump is sworn in.
As you say a lot will depend on how well Trump does.

But the Dems can get their act together if they nominate someone whom the members really support. The Demographics are in their favour.
But they need to look at the Senate and House in two years first.

If on the other hand his taxes miraculously come out and there are clear conflicts of interest with the likes of Russia, China etc or if another Access Hollywood type tape comes out then he will have a hard to justifying another run.

If they have a progressive with Bernie/Liz appeal who was about 15-20 years younger, then they will have a good chance. Hopefully Newsome gets his act together, wins the Gov, then runs in 20.

He needs to a have strong message that resonates.
The huge factor that may overshadow everything is terrorism/migration.
What happened yesterday is not going to go away.
How to contain future occurences, immigration and response overseas are all tied.

Yep, and I have been told that an Eastern European former nude model )who most likely began her life in the US working illegally and by all accounts a bit of a liar) is an elegant smart woman deserving of the title of First Lady, not an intelligent well educated African American super mom who wants to add years of on to you're life through exercise and healthy eating.
You just have to look at the female presenters on Fox News to see they have a type. They would rather spend a weekend with someone like Ann Coulter than princess Diana.

No super rich oligarch has ever been elected president of the US. The closest to that description was probably Thomas Jefferson, a rich plantation owner and member of the Virginia ruling elite. Ironically, the richest US president before Trump may have been John F Kennedy, who never worked a day in his life, and inherited his wealth from his unscrupulous father.

I would like to see a center right conservative like John Huntsman leave that shite party and run on the ticket as an independent with Warren/Biden until Gavin Newsome has one governor term under his belt. Show some republicans that you can actually use intelligence for the betterment of the country and not put up with a trump/ Cruz figure just because they have an R beside their names.
Cuban I could live with but O' Malley is sooooo boring but ideal for an important cabinet position.

I wouldn't exactly call serving in WW2 and earning a Purple Heart never having worked a day.

JFK was a war hero, a Congressman and Senator.
In your books I suppose that means he never worked a day in his life.
