It should be Rojo and Bailly when he's back. Jones shat it every time he got pressed.
True, everytime there is a chance just to control and bring the ball down he never did it and just clear the ball forward, compare him to Rojo whose control and composure is amazing tonight

Thought they were both brilliant today. Jones had Ken moment where he got pressed and buckled; but otherwise he was magnificent. His one on one defending is awesome. And his bravery 10/10

I thought Rojo specifically was good.

This really. I was impressed with Rojo's composure. I mean yes both hoofed it up more than enough times but Rojo especially tried to play it out from the back and tried to give an extra option. Jones pretty much bottled it every half-chance for a forward pass and went back to De Gea.

Defensively no problems from both imo. Good.

As a partnership I thought they seemed ok today. Jones' hesitation and reluctance to take responsibility when in possession was evident and he should have done better in the episode that led to the corner from which they scored. Rojo a bit careless at times with his passing but overall one of our better performers.

I think in the summer one or both of them will be moved on, as neither are top drawer CB's and there's better options out there. If I had to keep one it would be Rojo as hes more composed on the ball, and less injury prone. Jones panics when a player is within a couple of yards of him, and passes more backward balls than anyone else. Plus although hes ok at the mo, you just know hes gonna get injured again and be out for ages.

Jones was a bag of nerves literally throughout the game. Rojo was good but seemed very very tired (possibly not match fit) at the end and couldn't clear properly at all.

Jones is one of the worst players I have ever seen. He will never ever be a first choice centreback for any top team in a million years.

His clumsy defending today also lead to Liverpool's first goal. He is such an annoying clumsy oaf.

I'd much prefer Smalling in the team over him and when Bailly is back I hope Jose will come to his sencens and put Jones where he belongs which is out of the team.

The point is Jones is terrible and proves it time and time again especially in big matches.

Having him as part of a first choice centreback pair is simply mind boggling.

That's absolutely ridiculous and you know it. He wasn't great today but check his statistics above your post.

He's been fantastic for us this season.

He cost us the game together with Pogba and it hasn't be the first time either. He is about the same quality as Klavan.

Rojo was good today, Jones a bit shaky but he did ok. They weren't the problem today, IMO. Darmian and Valencia didn't do enough

Why are our own fans so desperate to criticize them? Is it because so many of them believed the sh**e they read in the tabloids and had written Jones and Rojo off?

They were fine today. Yes Jones got caught on the ball for the corner leading to the goal but we know who was ultimately at fault there. The criticism of the distribution is ridiculous. They are clearly told to hit Zlatan. Read Mourinho's books - he asks his CBs to hit the centre forward when they can, hence the so called "hoofing". This is why Mourinho buys forwards like Zlatan, Drogba and Costa

Full backs were fine. Darmian was very good defensively. Valencia assisted our goal. Whole defense was good overall, kept the Liverpool attack quiet. They only really caused some problems when midfielders decided to make a bad pass in a dangerous area.

Valencia got caught up the field a few times I thought and Jones covered him, but I guess it was down to us going for the goal. Darmian wasn't very good, most of Liverpool's attacks came down his side in the first half

Jones had a shaky moment or two, but no problem with these two given the 'protection' in front of them just wasn't there.

What protection do you need when the simple option is to pass back? Jones panicked under very little pressure, Rojo saved his arse in several occasions. Bailly and Rojo would be my first choice with Smalling ahead of Jones

He's not a LB he's a right back covering that position. We need a proper LB if Shaw isn't going to make it

Jones made me nervous today, Rojo didn't.

If we have a choice of selling one in the summer I'd keep Rojo, this is also keeping Jones fitness record in mind.

Rojo also fits that illusive LCB role the best. Most of our other options are noteably worse when deployed there instead of RCB.

Doesn't matter where Liverpool's attack come from, it's what they do with it. Darmian didn't have any problems defensively and Liverpool's attack down their right weren't dangerous because our defense was tight.

Liverpool only cause problems late 2nd half when counter attacking down the left when Valencia had been attacking. Nothing to fault Valencia about since we were trailing.

Were you unhappy with the defense? Did you think that Liverpool created many chances? Not a single one in the first half.

United would have won the game like they would many other draws this season with more clinical finishing. That's still problem nr. 1. Problem nr. 2 in this match was a subpar midfield performance. Personally I thought that Mata on for Carrick instead of Rooney would have been better but alas.

I trust Rojo to be the first choice Centre Back alongside Bailly after today game. Jones not so much, had a good game in numbers but looks very shaky (especially after the mistake).

They did well today, anyone claiming otherwise is just frustrated with the result, which is understandeable. Of course the Jones stereotyping bullshit is coming around again because of that dodgy back pass, in reality he actually had plenty of excellent moments - did some insane quality shite in the last 20 minutes when it was an open shambles.

In terms of defending the box they were fine. However their passing is never that great and they suffered today with Liverpools press.

However, most teams don't press like Liverpool and I'm happy with them continuing there for the time being.

Liverpool sat back during the first half though and they had good chances in the second half, they should have scored one. In the end they had more shots than us and more shots on target, that doesn't point to us being great at the back. Darmian lets players cross the ball, that's what I don't like about his defending.

I'm happy with Jones and Rojo though, Jones covered well for Velancia and Rojo covered well for Darmian, and Jones at times. the midfield left them exposed too often

I thought the pairing we're exposed at times today, thankfully they were spared Mane and Coutinho. Coutinho totally exposed them over and over when on the field.

They were fine. Apart from the chances in the second half, which were all from Liverpool's counter attacks, they did very little wrong, in my opinion.

Expect them to continue their partnership.

Neither are that strong aerially which means we struggle in both attack and defence at set pieces. The sooner we get back to a Bailly Smalling partnership the better.

Since when is: Giving away a corner = Cost his team the game. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Jesus, some of the comments in the player threads have been embarrassing today. 10 wins in a row, then a draw against Liverpool and suddenly all of our players shite and needs to be sold

One should be dropped for Bailly, not because of today, but because we need a better ball playing CB, and Eric is better than both.

Both of them were very average on the ball today. I still think they will be okay in smaller games but long term if we want to be a CL competing side they're not good enough tbh.
