    Lots of people very confident like they were before the Liverpool game.

    Squad omissions
    The likes of Fosu-Mensah, Darmian and Schweinsteiger likely to be in club suits today.

    Mourinho adds it 'will hurt to leave some players out. There will be some fantastic players who don't even make it to the bench'. #mufc

    2:09 PM - 26 Feb 2017
    Was it him who predicted Herrera won't start vs St. Etienne at home or something.
    I remember him being wrong about one player and people panicked over it predictably.

    Went with the attacking approach.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Blind
    Herrera - Pogba
    Lingard - Mata - Martial
    Zlatan

    Lingard should run his socks off, along with Herrera and Mata. Martial and Zlatan to score, and Pogba to run the show! Bring it on:devil:

    He does come out with some tosh, I post his stuff for the entertainment value if nothing else.

    Have some family birthday to go to. It's at 6 so luckily I'll catch at least 1st half. Hopefully we're manage to score a goal or 2 so I can be less nervous.

    Not confident but I never am before a big game. Mkhi missing is annoying. Him and Mata have developed a nice understanding on the pitch.

    I'm seeing a lot of 4-2-3-1. I personally would go 4-3-3. Saints are good in midfield and play with a diamond at times whereas the area they are weak in is their defence (no van Dijk, no fonte). Control the midfield and we will score eventually.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata - Zlatan - Martial

    Later in the game, if we are still not ahead, take Carrick off and bring Rashford on to go with a 4-2-3-1.

    May be there are 6 changes:

    Romero -> DG
    Young -> Valencia
    Blind -> Rojo
    Carrick -> Herrera
    Fellaini -> Rashford/Rooney (possibly Rashford)
    Mkhi -> Martial

    I never predicted an easy win against LFC. LFC at the time, were the 2nd most in-form team, so it was always going to be close. Maybe 1-0, at best. As it was it finished 1-1.
    Now, Southampton is a different story. They are not a very good team and are there for the taking. The negative is that it is at a neutral ground, so we have no home advantage.d
    I predicted 2-0.

    Pointless and unnecessary.

    Have a feeling the match will be decided on penalties. We have been getting closer to it in the past year as we were 30, 10 and 8 minutes away from a shootout against Everton, Palace and Leicester respectively in our last three visits to Wembley. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that considering our awful record recently in shootouts.

    He travelled with the team I think. Doubt he'll start - an enforced early sub is all we'd need.
    Everyone travelled in the squad, it's a final so that's to be expected.

    Miki isn't playing, Mou's already mentioned that enough.

    I wouldn't be completely surprised. It's quite obvious Mourinho isn't completely happy with his left backs, and I expect him to try Rojo there again in the not-too-distant future (most likely in a match against a team with big powerful forwards). And if it works when he tries it he may very well continue that way until the end of the season.

    I personally don't think it'll be this game, but it wouldn't be a huge shock for me if it were.

    Noted!
    I was simply answering someone's innocent enquiry - not saying it's what I believe.
    You, however, have made a definite statement that might come back and bite you on the arse. If I can be bothered!

    Leaked starting XI
    Unconfirmed, but the team for today is believed to be:

    • De Gea
    • Valencia
    • Bailly
    • Smalling
    • Rojo
    • Herrera
    • Pogba
    • Lingard
    • Mata
    • Martial
    • Ibrahimovic
    A couple of interesting alterations from Mourinho. Left-back has been a problem position for United this season and Rojo has hardly played there under the Portuguese, but if chosen is maybe the steadiest option.

    Daley Blind has under-performed in recent months, Matteo Darmian has not produced a truly good display in over a year and Luke Shaw will be fortunate to make the bench.

    In attack, the suggestion is Jesse Lingard has got the nod ahead of Marcus Rashford. Mourinho might be counting on Lingard’s previous outings at Wembley and his excellent link-up play with Mata against Leicester and Stoke earlier this season.

    What counts against Rashford are his forgettable performances on the right and the fact he has never started behind the striker this season.

    Should add teams have occasionally featured the odd deliberate mistake amid Mourinho’s mole hunt, so don’t be surprised if the United Twitter graphic is slightly different.

    I am glad there are a lot less rats this time around

    If that's true then I got 10/11
    Had Carrick in as part of a 3 man midfield and Lingard to come on as a sub instead of starting.

    Watching the other League Cup finals on MUTV. :drool: Would love an easy romp again like we did against Wigan.

    Lingard starting isn't a surprise really but Rojo at left back in a major concern. Never once has he looked good at left back, he excels in the centre and struggles in wide positions in my opinion.
