Big Bald Dunc says he's ready to leave Juve if Allegri stays.

Would love him as our CB summer signing. Says Chelsea and City are in for him.

Chelsea bound surely, plus at his age for the money that's been quoted I'd rather we spend it on a younger CB like Manolas.

Chelsea bought Luiz for £34 million just 7 months ago - and he's a fantastic fit for their system as a sweeper. Bonucci makes little sense for them at a nigh world record fee for defenders when they'll likely have bigger fish to fry in the summer window, unless someone offers crazy money for Luiz again. City is more realistic. Pep is a known admirer of Bonucci, and he could be just the defensive leader they need to stabilize things further. Not the perfect fit with Stones, but Guardiola can make it work in a possession oriented team.

Would love to see him at United, though - he's in a rare class of world class defenders in the contemporary game with the likes of Godín, and has the perfect blend of qualities - a genuine leader, excellent passer from the back, experienced in high-stake situations, and a good fit with the plethora of stopper options we have a right centerback. Spending big money on someone like him isn't madness considering what he brings to the table as a seasoned professional (when we have a gamut half-baked solutions - who're kinda unproven on the European Cup level), especially for a club with revenues of ~€700 million.

Watch him stay exactly where he is. Every year it's the same story.

He'll be 30 in a month and we are clearly not going to compete for titles for the next 2-3 years so it'd be a pointless signing for such big money IMO. We need to invest in 23-26 year olds who will be mainstay of this team for the next 6-8 years, not players who will play at a decent level for 3, maybe 4 more years. It'd be good investment if we were ready to compete now (like van Persie was) but we clearly are not.

Say what!?

Say what!?

We are 5th now, struggling to get ourselves into top 4 and looking at our calendar until the end of season it's fair to say we will likely finish below CL places again. I think we have a good chance to win Europa but as with every cup competition, you never know. We played a team that is very likely worse than anyone we are going to face in Europa League final in League Cup final and they were actually close to beating us so in one off game against Ajax, Lyon, Celta or Schalke anything could happen. This is where we are now, Europa League level, and it's not going to suddenly change because we bought £150m worth of players.

I disagree. If we have another summer like the last one I expect us to fully compete for the title. Look at the rubbish year we've had and we're 7 points from second spot with a game in hand. It shows the competition hasn't been that much better than us.

We will win the CL within three years.

30 years old is a bad age for CBs now? Right...

World class, experienced, composed, tough as nails and can pass the ball accurately over more than 5 yards, if we could get him he'd be the piece that pulls a very physical but slightly brainless defense together.

The league would be over if he joined Chelsea.
He is definitely better than Luiz, but the difference between what they can bring to the team isn't that big to make Chelsea unreachable. Especially if Luiz will be moved to play in a more disciplined role, which can cost them (although he's still better than Cahill). Would be a great signing for them, but not game-changing, and it's not like the league isn't over anyway at this moment of time

If we'll get him, we'll get a world class experienced leader at the back, which will elevate us to another level (look how many close games we would've won with him this season). And then you add his ball-playing abilities. And possibly another superstar like Griezmann...

We're basically Chelsea in the first season after Mourinho's return - not good enough yet, but with a few world-class additions (like Costa and Cesc were for Chelsea) we'll be competing for everything. Well, maybe not for the CL, but it wouldn't be that far away too, probably.

Pep will get him if he leaves Juve though

He might teach Smalling how to think.

That's just complete rubbish. We had a poor start to the season but we've improved a lot since then. Adding Griezmann, another midfielder and Bonucci would easily allow us to compete for the title. Chelsea wouldn't have the luxury of one game a week either next season, spurs are going to Wembley where they struggle, arsenal are in disarray and man city might be replacing half the team this summer. If we have a good transfer window we will compete

2-3 years???

We are 7 points behind second with a game in hand. Only Chelsea and Tottenham have lost as few games (3) as United has this season. We went head to head with Chelsea for 60 minutes with a man down. We drew at least 7 games that on different days, we would have won. Jose Mourinho is about to manage United for a second season. We will likely be in Champions League next season. There is plenty of money available to be spent by a manager who knows what he is doing. We have maturing young players like Rashford, Martial, Pogba, Lingard and Baily. And, most significantly, we are Manchester United. How can we be 2-3 years away from challenging for a title?

I'd absolutely sign him if there was any chance, light years ahead of all our centre backs.

Would be perfect for us. Bonucci with one of Rojo/Smalling/Bailly would be excellent. Can play in a back 3 too.

He won't leave but if we were to sign any central defender he's the perfect profile of player to target.

Spending 50m+ on a 29 year old is madness. We gifted that club enough money.

Not in today's market.

We can get 4-5 years minimum at the highest level and he would massively improve our defense.

You learn something new everyday , isn't it?

For example, on Monday, I've read on the caf that Mourinho subbed in defenders against Middlesbrough on purpose to lose the game so that his comments in the pre match press were correct.

I would love him at United and I actually think he would be a better fit for us than City. If I were him I wouldn't go to City, yes his passing will go well with their possession style of play but after playing in a Juve and Italian national team for years defending somewhat deep and playing in a back 5 I don't think it would be a good idea to just throw him into Pep's high line with someone like Stones next to him. That would be my only concern about a City move.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Extremely creative minds.

If he leaves he'll go to City or Chelsea, but we'll not sell him for any offer below 60m€. We have already turned down City and its 50/55m last summer.
It may seems expensive (the blame is on the PL guys, you overpaid too much average players and prospects and inflated the market) but it's totally worth it, he's a great defender and a playmaker; indeed he could easily play as a central midfielder

He already said that he would have loved to be trained by Guardiola (that's why he thought about joining City in the summer), and I think that the same would apply for Conte as he's the coach that made him what he is.

Btw, though he's 29, he's considered pretty young for our italian standards; our best defender right now is Barzagli and he's 35.

I personally feel we need to stay well clear of this transfer. There's no question he's a very good player but I feel his age and the huge transfer fee won't be worth us go in for him in my opinion.

He's not old for a CB though, and do we really need more young CB's? We have a crop of youngish CB's that are all athletic and put themselves about but none of them have any compsure or sense, I think we badly need an older CB to guide them.

I think we need a experienced CB to guide the younger players but it doesn't have to be a 29yr old Bonucci who Juve will absolutely fleece us over.

I'd give a limb to have him as our #1 CB. Bailly, Smalling and Rojo to compete for his first-choice partner. Bonucci is amazing. However, I'd say we'd be the underdog behind Chelsea and City to sign him, I could see both going in hard for him and it'd take a gigantic transfer fee.

The thing is there aren't any other CB's anywhere near his level bar ones that are at clubs that we'd have to pay top dollar to get them from, I mean the experience comes from having played in a side that competes in the biggest games and that means the player will be at a club that wont sell cheap.

We're going from bad to worse if we don't start building a team properly. Cowardly short cuts won't work in the long run. Man United mentality is nuts. We need to build a good team, and give up this patchwork quilt mentality.
Besides it's about time we gave Fosu Mensah the chance he deserves. He was good for us last season. I think Blind is another option we can explore. He was good in a 2 CB system, and he'd be better in a 3 CB system. If a ball player is what we desire. We need to concentrate more on what we have for a change.
