I even bought the gaming steering wheel for the original GT. Ah those licences. Good times.I used to be a massive GT fan. Put in all the hours to gold everything. Early GT licences, GT4's mission 34, GT5's Vettel challenges, all of it. But GT6 did very little for me and this just looks like the same game again with some visual upgrades. Feels like this whole franchise has been going slowly downhill after GT4. Will we ever get the improved sound, AI or collision physics we've been desperately hoping for for about a decade? I'm not holding my breath.
Very true - those would be my only concerns to be honest.I used to be a massive GT fan. Put in all the hours to gold everything. In what way?Always been a classy game, but the racing was turd. I assume it'll be more online based than ever though so might not be as much of an issue.
Project Cars, Dirt Rally and Assetto Corsa surely count as good racing games?I've been waiting for this a while. The PS4 needs a good racing game.
In the earlier Gran Turismos, which everyone rated extremely highly too (and rightly so for a lot of reasons as they stepped the bar up massively in a lot of areas), the racing was dull and essentially felt like a bunch of cars on a set path with little action. In what way?
I spent a ridiculous amount of time on 5, but 6 was a big let down.
Hopefully this will be a hit, the footage looks pretty good.
Yeah I agree, the opponents were very linear, all drove the same way too. Would be nice if they could add a bit of variation/character, like getting the back end out round corners or understeering etc. Either way the graphics look fantastic. In the earlier Gran Turismos, which everyone rated extremely highly too (and rightly so for a lot of reasons as they stepped the bar up massively in a lot of areas), the racing was dull and essentially felt like a bunch of cars on a set path with little action.
I didn't play the last one so maybe it's improved?
Ah I thought you meant the driving rather than the AI. Yea it wasn't great at times, but some of the challenges were a bit harder. In the earlier Gran Turismos, which everyone rated extremely highly too (and rightly so for a lot of reasons as they stepped the bar up massively in a lot of areas), the racing was dull and essentially felt like a bunch of cars on a set path with little action.

Not really into rally enough to play a full game based on it and I thought project cars wasn't great tbh.Project Cars, Dirt Rally and Assetto Corsa surely count as good racing games?
No offline career
No dynamic weather or time
What the feck have Polyphony been doing all these years? Sony get rid of good studios and keep these piss heads open who are living off the reputation of a game that was great on the PS2. The last two were ok on PS3, but nothing special.

What?
My post is from May, but it was posted on GT planet forum.WTF really?
Not buying if that's the case.
This isn't a traditional GT. It is more focused to the esports/multiplayer side. Daily events and championships are going to be online only.Folks over at GT Planet collected evidence which basically confirms there won't be any traditional offline events ('Sunday Cup', 'Free like the wind'...) like in previous Gran Turismo games.
Quick Race aka Arcade Mode is still there though.
Well that's a let down. Best part of the game from my PS1 days. Won't be buying it if true.No offline career
No dynamic weather or time

That will never happen since the car brands will never accept their cars getting wrecked.I used to be a massive GT fan. Put in all the hours to gold everything. The racing car modifications available to practically all cars in GT1 and 2 is why they're still my 2 favourites tbh.My memory might fail me, but i seem to remember the earlier installments where a lot more fleshed out in terms of car customization/upgrading and was a lot more open in the terms of cars you used?
I have Driveclub and think it's pretty good. Really good driving feel and some decent cars as well. These games seem to come out every 25 years.
I used to love a good driving game. Anything worth getting on PD$ in the Gran Tourismo/Forza mould?
I attempted to download the demo...43gb!Bump.
A demo went up on the PS Store for this today.
I was going to wait until I got home but I guess I better just try and remote download it from my phoneI attempted to download the demo...43gb!
That's the big question and I doubt anyone other than Kazunori Yamauchi can answer it. He seems to consider himself and his studio as perfectionists, but looking at all of their output since 2010, perfection isn't exactly the first word that comes to mind. He obsesses over every little detail of each car being recreated with extreme authenticity, but it ultimately adds very little to the game and lead to the "standard" car horror shows that were GT5 and GT6.How does it take GT developers years to make this game but the crowd who do Forza churn one out each year (and they apparently are all top quality)
I'm not sure I'd call forza top quality. Some of the driving physics is terrible and the AI seem to just stop in the middle of the track at times. I'd love a game as good as the early GTs.How does it take GT developers years to make this game but the crowd who do Forza churn one out each year (and they apparently are all top quality)
