When United are not doing well, and Liverpool are, I read this thread as a substitute for the RAWK Meltdown thread. It's a place where I can relax and enjoy the chaos of someone else's reality.

You forgot that we're re-escalating the War on Drugs whilst simultaneously making it a priority to keep refugees of it from Central America and Mexico from entering the US and deporting those that have. Good times!Yeah it's really therapeutic reading how 24million people could be thrown off their health insurance, how rape victims and victims of domestic violence will have their premiums increased, how years of scientific research into climate change is being purged to facilitate billionaire corporations earning more money through fossil fuel production.
I can think of two reasons why she was sacked.
Wait until things head south soon and it's back to inherited a mess.So the economy recovering is due to Trump and in no way the inevitable result of the gradual and accelerating recovery under Obama?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
That sounds like something Paul Ryan would say. Although you are right in a way, it's not really that simple and many people need help in numerous ways, that's really what living in a civilised society means. The USA really does put a price on a human life and that is deplorable. I agree people need to learn a lesson and need to be more informed but I can't agree that people need to die and suffer, although it is increasingly looking more likely that it may be the only way, the trouble is it will be too late for many, and even then I still don't think it will change a lot of peoples minds. More than enough Republicans want a form of UHC now, just not one called ObamaCare. It really shouldn't even be a discussion to be honest, it amazes me how completely uninformed so many US citizens are about healthcare and how selfish some others are. Without trying to use a shitty pun, it actually sickens me to the core.
Of course not but it shows that you are better and a decent person. People who want universal healthcare want it because its morally and ethically the right thing to do. As I said, it's civilised and it's fair. Everyone contributes through tax and if people want to have private care then they can pay for it if they choose to do so. But the main point is that healthcare and medicine is a not for profit system. You shouldn't be able to make money off the sick and needy or choose who lives and who dies depending on if they can afford it or not.
Anyway that's just my opinion on it all and I accept others don't agree, and I am just so thankful I live in a country that has an amazing service called the NHS. I just hope that I get the chance to see my friends and family in the States get a similar equivalent in my lifetime. I thought you all had made progress with ObamaCare although I feel he should have pushed harder and gone for what he really wanted, but it was still a start. Then it was refreshing to hear Bernie talk about it all the time and to see how many loved him for it and to see his crowds, but unfortunately like the Environmental advances under Obama all that hard work is being undone.
.

Until people take responsibility for their actions, things will not change for the better, no matter how much we want them to. It's like drug and alcohol addicts, they need to own up and take responsibility. Until they acknowledge their own problems and take responsibility, nothing is going to change, no matter how much you and me talk about it. Trump won the election because way too many people could not give a feck, not because of Russian hacks or whatever. People need to learn what really is important need to learn what really is important to them.
As far as universal healthcare, that is absolutely what I want. I am a doctor and understand the importance of having everyone covered under a universal healthcare plan, but the American people have been so brain washed by this, I see it very difficult to elect a president who campaigns on that promise.
I've had lots of conversations trying to persuade Americans that British system is superior. Usually ends in shock and disbelief in person and "whatever" if on Facebook etc.Well said mate, absolutely spot on.
Yeah, I agree with all of that. Much respect to yourself as well for choosing such a noble and selfless profession.
As for the American people being so brainwashed, we have spoke about that in here and other threads countless times, but the stats show that when asked, the majority of the American public do want UHC. However, as you rightly said, because of how the Republicans constantly twist things and outright lie about other countries healthcare systems, most US citizens are against it for the wrong reasons, yet paradoxically they actually want it when it is presented to them in a different way.
I would be seriously interested if all the US posters here could post how the new healthcare bill will affect them and their families personally. I agree 100% with @Raoul on this one though and think the Senate will smash this bill back quicker than it came in, however if they keep knocking on the door I fear they will eventually get in and they will get their way in the end.

I don't think this will impact my family unless something bad happens like a serious illness where my wife loses her job and we lose our care. That's the most criminal part of the system. You can do everything right, have both spouses work full time with full health care and yet you are still a diagnosis away from losing everything.
Edit: currently setting up $1,000,000 life insurance for both of us with an option to take the payment if one of us is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Fun!
Hopefully it doesn't get passed
It's as much of a death sentence for the Senators careers as it is for the citizens it will effect physically and financially.
That's the upside really isn't it?

It would be if they passed it, but I don't think they are that stupid, or should I say, that careless. I think they will send it back to the house and it will be amended and sent back again. It could be like a virtual game of political tennis where the House passes it and the Senate rejects it and they just keep knocking it back to each other for the next 4 years
I don't really see any way forward without a single payer universal healthcare system. Now that the public have access to a crude version of it, they will simply demand more until its simplified into a single payer format.
It boggles my mind when people complain about that. They never consider that with a little extra in tax, you can eliminate paying for insurance every month AND eliminate doctor/hospital bills. We live in hope. The naysayers cry about taxation but honestly I know people that are paying $700 a month for medical insurance they never use.
Its insane.

How's that a "bad" fiscal decision?
You're so edgy and cool. When United are not doing well, and Liverpool are, I read this thread as a substitute for the RAWK Meltdown thread. It's a place where I can relax and enjoy the chaos of someone else's reality.
I do as well. I'm related to several of them. If it passes the question "so is this what you wanted?" will be askedIt won't effect my family much but I know some people that it will effect negatively and those people voted for trump.
Hopefully it doesn't get passed and he continues to be a dead rubber fish.

Good for them. Part of me wants it to get passed.Fine. For now.

He probably will - and will probably win. 2020 foresight.Good speech, but its cringe worthy seeing people calling for him to run for president in 2020 because of this speech.

Yes, because he nailed it. How do you argue against what he is saying? This is a powerful video.

You're making the assumption that the CIA will be on his side.Kennedy as president.... Nah Trump will cia him before that can happen
Fair point... But he can always call on the kgb insteadYou're making the assumption that the CIA will be on his side.
He's a possibility if he gets elected governor in 2018.Drumpf will have to deal with Bernie and Liz. Although both would be far too old and project a bit of a generation gap for the Dems. The only Dem that would unite everyone is Gavin Newsome imo. He's ripe to be Pres.

A presidential run would make for some interesting TV, seeing as how he's the ex-husband of Kimberly Guilfoyle
