Dean Ashton for West Ham in a 4-1 loss was a cracker.

Brazilian Ronaldo. The goal from nothing 30 or 40 yards out. I just remember thinking how helpless we looked.

Can't think beyond Ronaldo's hat trick. Not a single goal I know but pretty good all the same.

Rossi (Man Utd - Roma). Perfect volley.
Yes great shout.

Perfectly taken strike, overshadowed not only by the fact we beat them 7-1 but also because we scored some terrific goals that night ourselves. Carrick scored a belter, Alan Smith too.

Super goal by Rossi but somewhat forgotten given everything else.

Exactly. The fact that it was great and overshadowed makes it perfect.

Darren Ambrose for Crystal Palace (when they had Zaha before he signed for us) in the cup, 11/12 season I think. We lost 2-1. One of the best goals i've ever seen against us.

Ronaldo for his hattrick obviously, Benteke in the 3-1 on Martial's debut, Aguero a couple of years ago.

That's De Rossi. For a sec I was wondering when Giuseppe Rossi scored a great goal against us

Every season at least once or twice a random midtable player seems to score the goal of their career against us.

That Spurs goal, was it a defender that was the sold? He rifled one in recently

Wasn't that Rio/Wes looking totally out of their depth in those legs? Ronaldo and company toyed with the United back four those nights.
I wouldn't say that. We won 4-3. We were all over them except for Ronaldo and to a lesser extent Figo.

Scored by an opposition player - not the best but Ronnie Whelan's own goal when he lobbed Grobelaar from 30 yards in 1990 was a gem!

I think you're generously remembering that game. It was a decent goal, but he was nowhere near 40 yards out (that's closer to the h/w line than the goal - think Ronaldo vs Porto) and the only time we were anything like "all over them" was near the end, when they'd already taken Figo & Ronaldo off because they knew they were comfortable.

I've always found it strange how people romanticise that match. We were always chasing it, and it was only an exhibition after we'd already lost. We were something like 6-3 down on aggregate (+away goals) when Beckham came on. It wasn't a much of a high point. The media did us a favour by playing up the spectacle of what was essentially a comfortable win for Real.

Batistuta sticks out in my mind. Was an abosolute rocket. I remember everyone in the stand saying 'what the feck was Bosnich doing?'. Saw it back on tv and not only was it a rocket but it moved in a unholy way
