If he was 100% committed to staying, he would simply say so.
This myth fuels a lot of Caf transfer rumours. No agent worth his salt will ever let his player say he's '100%' doing anything. It weakens your negotiating position regardless of your actual intentions.

Is it a lump sum issue or tax issue? I forgot which Atletico can oblige is for, if any.
I think it's mostly a lump sum issue. I don't know if Atletico's obliged for anything but transfer fees are usually paid in installments, especially if the price is high.

Yes I agree however I found it strange that he didn't even bother to deny a rumor that he had asked to leave the club in his press conference. Footballers hardly commit their future but go a long way to deny(for goodwill reasons) that they've essentially handed a transfer request.

Funny how Di Marzio declares him third choice the day Atletico have their ban upheld. I'm thinking United know they're going to miss out and are briefing to downplay this. Wait for endless links to Moratta and Mbappe in the coming days.
You think so?

Yeah, United got on the phone to an Italian journalist so he could include a throwaway line in an Italian article designed to downplay the story for the English market.

He already said publically there is a 6/10 chance he is joining United. That's much weirder in itself, and he is certainly confusing everybody! Just sign the bloody contract (with us).

Yes, an English club briefed an Italian Journalist about a French player in the Spanish League. Sounds plausible.

Hilarious watching everyone overthink this.
i know i'm probably over reading it in my short lived excitement

But i just can't see how people are claiming this is a pay-rise stunt after he re-signed less than 12 months ago.

If we are in to pay the release clause of 100M€ for a "3rd choice player", we are totally buying Mbappe too.
Front 3 being:
Rashford - Mbappe
Griezmann

That's what the buyouts clause are for.
Because they cannot sign any new players, selling Griezmann would make no sense as they would have no cover - we'll see but my understanding was that any possible departure for the player was inextricably linked to a positive result from the CAS appeal more than the buyout being met

Sorry if this has been asked a lot but when is the official outcome on the transfer ban appeal?

That's why the buyout exists. Unless griezmann says no, the club are like fish in a barrel. They have no say in this deal, they are the paper pushers in making it happen.

If the rumoured transfer is killed, griezmann kills it, no one else.

Yeah ok, that's what everyone was saying last summer too when he was bringing the news everyone wanted to hear, no matter which country the players were based.
My point was that United wouldn't brief him. They have loads of journalist here(Ducker, Ogden, Jackson etc) He was getting loads of information last season due to Raiola.

But they've no choice in that matter if we meet his buyout clause.

I don't know but he was no.1 last summer for United news. English journos get sod all from us, i thought everyone had accepted that.
He has sources close to Raiola, not to United in general judging by last summer. If we were to brief anyone it would be Stone, he's our mouthpiece.

It was a Raiola connection, and Italian connection (specifically with Pogba).

The Di Marzio story doesn't even matter.

Both other players are being linked with staying (Mbappe) or moving to another club (Morata). In fact hasn't Di Marzio linked Morata with another club?

If the COPE story is right, and other rumours are right, we are gunning for griezmann, do we really care if he's 1st or 3rd on a fecking list?

If that was the case we would have used attainable targets not Moratta (going to Italy) and Mbappe (who will stay in Monaco), no?

There are still more than 2 months to go .... and eventually Hazard said no and went to Chelsea!

Need to pace your load my friend !
I think I got way too invested too soon. Maybe I'll take a break and come back in a couple of weeks
