Well not really. Properly built high rises have fireproof structures and rescue floors so this can never happen. Something was missed here and people will pay.Thats the scary thing about living in dense high rise buildings --you just need an idiot falling asleep with his ciggie in his hand...
Whichever MP said that is scum. Its just been hours since people have burned to death and they want to score political points over it.Labour MP saying Government resisted calls to install fire sprinkler systems in high rise buildings.
Labour MP Jim Fitzpatrick - a former fire fighter - said the Government has resisted calls to install sprinkler systems in high-rise blocks in the wake of the Lakanal House tragedy in Camberwell in 2009, which left 6 people dead.Whichever MP said that is scum. I read of reports in the past years of power surges and reports of people unhappy with the wiring.A witness/resident said that his friend from the 4th floor told him that his fridge exploded -- that may have started the entire thing.
They were told to do it, and survivedWet towels under the doors , FFS what do they think it is a fecking film, looking at the footage that would not be close to helping.
Gets wprse all the time, Witnesses describe hearing screams, watching people jump out the burning building and a woman holding a baby out of a window.
I am not sure that advice isn't right - it's often the opening of doors and windows that allows in extra oxygen to feed the flames is it not? They were told to do it, and survived :s
Regardless, what else can you do
That should be treated like destroying evidence and potentially attempted obstruction of justice. On another note, the company that handled last year's renovations has cleaned all references to their work from their website, but they can't escape the internet's history machine:

Yeah and I'm pretty sure if you open a door or window the extra oxygen can cause a massive backdraught to blow into the room, it doesn't just creep in.I am not sure that advice isn't right - it's often the opening of doors and windows that allows in extra oxygen to feed the flames is it not?
Is there an obligation for private companies to provide details about their work on the internet? It's not like they deleted it, they just took it off the homepage. That should be treated like destroying evidence and potentially attempted obstruction of justice.
As long as they don't destroy the contracts and bills, it's nothing. They just don't want to advertise that, you can disagree with it though. That should be treated like destroying evidence and potentially attempted obstruction of justice.
The site has not edited anything and still has the same stuff as the screen shot.On another note, the company that handled last year's renovations has cleaned all references to their work from their website, but they can't escape the internet's history machine:

This gave me chills right down my spine
Most directors haven't got a fecking clue what their companies do, the glass ceiling in most Engineering and construction companies separates a bunch of corporate climbers and political lobbysist with MBAs, graphs and charts who answer to the shareholders from the engineering staff who actually carry out the work. Hopefully for their sake their paperwork was in order but something has clearly gone wrong and somebody will be made to answer for it unless it can be proven that the cause and chain of events was impossible to predict.they have the director of the company that put the cladding up on ITV and Morgan asked him if the cladding used, was 100% up to all the fire and Heath /Safety regs and he never answered the question.
The director of the company does not have a clue what the cladding is made of.
I understand that , but if you are the director of a company that this has happened to and you knew you was going to be asked question like this , would you not find out before you went on live TV.Most directors haven't got a fecking clue what their companies do, the glass ceiling in most Engineering and construction companies separates a bunch of corporate climbers and political lobbysist with MBAs, graphs and charts who answer to the shareholders from the engineering staff who actually carry out the work. Looking at the pictures now on TV. Dreadful. There could be a lot of fatalities here. Awful. You just hope most got out.Absolutely catastrophic. I'm dreading the stories that are going to come out in the aftermath.
"they questioned government support of profit margins over safety! Scum!"Whichever MP said that is scum. Its just been hours since people have burned to death and they want to score political points over it.
I suspect most would decline the interview and say a statement would be issued once all the information had been gathered. It's a sad reality in construction, I've been inside companies 4 times now where we've had accidents with multiple fatalities plus one where a crane collapsed across a busy road in rush hour and somehow missed every single car, thankfully my local MDs were always Engineers who understood the business but the instruction from board level back in Europe was always to refuse to speak to the media, we'd have been dismissed for doing so before all the facts were known.I understand that , but if you are the director of a company that this has happened to and you knew you was going to be asked question like this , would you not find out before you went on live TV.
He did himself and his company no favours what so ever and to just hang up the phone.
To be fair the fire started less than 12 hours ago and we don't know what caused it or why it spread like it did. So might be a bit soon to start pointing fingers."they questioned government support of profit margins over safety! Scum!"
Wise up.
When a drink driver kills someone in a crash you don't go about warning the anti drink driving groups not to point score. Pointing out cause and effect is fair game. There's a time and a place to jump up and down and try and score political points though surely?
