Starts next week featuring some usual suspects (Portugal, England & Germany) with some noteable absentees (France, Italy & Spain).

Only two groups of four

Group A

Georgia (hosts)
Czech Republic
Sweden
Portugal

Group B

Germany
England
Bulgaria
Netherlands

Lots of Chelsea players for England (as usual) but the players I'm most interested to would be Sessegnon, Reece Oxford and Tom Davis (if he goes).

Any info on the other sides from our continental posters?

Here is the link with the squad.

http://www.fpf.pt/pt/selecoes/futebol-masculino/selecao-sub-19/convocatorias/callUpId=793

Some interesting players who have been in the Under 20's WC: José Gomes, striker from Benfica who had a bad WC, lets see if he is in better shape now hopefully, expected a lot more from him, Florentino Luis from Benfica, defensive midfielder, and Diogo Dalot, right fullback, great prospect for the future, lets see if those players performances will be afected with 2 tournaments in a row.

I am surprised clubs are cool with a player playing two tournaments in a summer.

I only mentioned those 3 because they were at the under 20's WC but there are a lot more, and for example Dalot last year in 2016 won the under 17's Euros, 2 months later went to the Under 19's Euros, Uefa Youth League during this season, under 20 WC and now his second under 19 tournament in a row, and he played all matches in those tournaments, he is a beast, must watch for those who don't know him.

Frankfurt's Barkok is probably the biggest name in the squad right now, since he's got a couple of Bundesliga matches to his name, including two goals and assists.
Felix Götze is indeed Mario's little brother, but afaik his status isn't that big.
Notable absentees are Felix Passlack and Dzenis Burnic (both Dortmund) who don't participate so they can enjoy a full preseason with their club's first team.

I've been following England's youth teams, and it just doesn't happen. The clubs are reluctant to release them as it is, England never take a full strength squad to tournaments unfortunately, there's no chance that they'd ever name a player two tournament squads in the same summer. I guess the reason is clubs, and probably to keep things fairer too, gives more players a chance. I wouldn't be against it personally though.

I'm pretty sure that you will not find a single PL club who's motivation is "keep things fairer and give more players a chance"

I never said it was the clubs that wanted to keep things fair and give players a chance?

"I guess the reason is clubs, and probably to keep things fairer too, gives more players a chance." is that supposed to be more than one reason? Why not say so?

The word "and" implies that the first reason was clubs, and the second reason was to keep things fairer.

Do you want to get into a pedantic grammatical squabble? I am game.

Not really :lol: You seemed agitated right from your first post, don't really understand why.
I must have misunderstood then - when you said "the reason is clubs..."

I though that was where you laid all the blame at the clubs feet, but in fact it was just one on the reasons. Maybe you should have said so. But you don't want to get into the grammatical discussion so...

The clubs wouldn't be happy but it is also to give as many players as possible a shot in the setup. They are quite fair to the team that qualified too, taking players from other age groups at the expense of players that helped to win qualification isn't something they often do.

Thanks to everyone for posting team info.

Looking forward to this. After the U-21 Euros end on Friday and the Confederations' Cup ends on Sunday, this and Wimbledon will get me through the first 2 weeks of July, at which point pre-season conveniently starts. :drool:

Can't wait to see more of Ze Gomes. Any news on the England squad yet?

Will United have anyone in the England squad or will it be full of physically developed Chelsea players who rarely amount to anything?

0 from United. RoShaun Williams was a regular but he's been injured for the whole season. Callum Gribbin has been ignored for about 2 years and the likes of DJ Buffonge or Tyrell Warren have never been capped. 1 former United youngster in the squad in Nottingham Forest's Ben Brereton.

I've been disappointed with Gribbin, doesn't appear to have progressed much the last 2 years since I first saw him. When is Ro-Shaun back? Must have been a serious injury to keep him out for so long, prior to his injury I thought he had a great chance of making it at OT. I like Buffonge, from what I see his decision making needs to improve but he certainly has a chance of becoming a decent premiership player further down the line. I might be wrong but don't think Warren has any chance of making it at United.

All those youth cups Chelsea have won and practically nothing to show for it in terms of English players, their a disgrace.

Not saying about Warren's chance at United as we have TFM, Tuanzebe, Williams and O'Connor about his age who are all bigger prospects but England would rather play Chelsea's Reece James up a year than give him a chance is disappointing to see for me. The rest of England's defensive options of this group is underwhelming except for Oxford.

Forgot about him, always more of a winger in my mind. He managed to break into Charlton's team on the tail end of the season. With his small statue it's gonna take him a few more year in the football league before he's PL ready IMO.

From Portugal i'm expecting to see good performances from Diogo Dalot(right-back), Florentino(defensive midfielder) and maybe Gedson Fernandes.
From Benfica there are also included the likes of João Filipe and Mesaque Dju. The later I don't know nothing about him, since next season will be his first senior debut in Benfica B. João Filipe showed som promising glimpses in the 2016 U17 European, but was injured almost all season. From Porto, bar Dalot, Rui Pedro is the main guy to keep an eye on, since he already played some games in the main Porto squad. I don't know almost anything about the rest of the squad:

GK: Daniel Figueira (Vitória SC) e Diogo Costa (FC Porto);
Defenders: Abdu Conte (Sporting), Diogo Leite (FC Porto), Diogo Queirós (FC Porto), João Queirós (Sporting de Braga) e Diogo Dalot (FC Porto);
Midfielders: Bruno Paz (Sporting), Domingos Quina (West Ham), Florentino (Benfica), Gedson Fernandes (Benfica), Miguel Luís (Sporting) e Rui Pires (FC Porto);
Attackers: João Filipe (Benfica), Madi Queta (FC Porto), Mesaque Dju (Benfica), Rafael Leão (Sporting) e Rui Pedro (FC Porto).

Not a single United player in the squad.. Chelsea seem to be dominating the younger age groups, ironically.

Why ironically? They are the best academy in England and one of the best in the world. They win most trophies in England and won the youth Champions League in 14/15 & 15/16.

Just tuned in now, are we playing well @SCP?
Not much, we were lucky imo, the goal was scored by Rui Pedro on a penalty, and we are playing with 10 players, Gedson was sent off with a red card.
