I was wondering about that earlier. I can see the logic in 3 RBs if you draw @P-Nut0712 but LBs?Why am I tagged bro?
I've just realised.... I've got 3 fecking leftbacks
Nah a B2B midfielder was on the cards as we were waiting for a decent box. Our attack is pretty much set up.Excellent, 1 down, 1 to go. @Enigma_87 don't you dare!
Van bronckhorst is the bonus round pick yeah? Think EAP said he has to be played compulsorily?Thoughts?
Diego Alves
Dani Alves Forster Cannavaro Emlyn Hughes
Scholes Edwards
Hamrin Rivera Ribery
John Charles
Subs: 1. Koeman (can play CB or DM), 2. Van Bronkhorst (any position LW) 3. Leroy Sane (Youth pick)
Mine was too. I was worried about a certain midfielder that for some reason nobody gave a look in.Nah a B2B midfielder was on the cards as we were waiting for a decent box. Our attack is pretty much set up.
Talk about a tricky and elusive attack, Robben, Sindelar, Sivori and Mazzola .Moby - 1. D. Drogba (7) 2. [DROPPED] 3. A.Robben (17) 4. N. Vidic (14) 5. M. Sindelar (22) 6. R. Keane (10) 7. Sanchis 8. J. C. Valerón (13) 9. M. Tardelli (21) 10. N. Santos (27) 11. W. Suurbier (9) 12. J. Nasazzi (16) 13. [DROPPED] 14. S. Maier (21) 15. S. Mazzola (10) 16. O. Sivori (19) - |finished drafting in Box 19|
Well it was not a recognized league, so I didn't think of banning it explicitly. Feck me, this is a mess now.
And that convo with Onenil was to focus on "played not born" and not on permitting ISL/CSL etc.
Yes.There's no room for diversity here.
I literally spelt out I was picking Lucio on account of his time at Goa and being 8th in the ISL. The rules say ANY league.
There have been several picks based on the ISL.
There has been discussion of the ISL involving the draftmaster.
At no point was it flagged that it was an "invalid league".
If I had landed in that box I was actually going to pick a player that played in the old Intercontinental Cup in Japan.Edgar Allan Pillow said:I'm sure you can think of Europe/American born players who have played atleast 1 game outside of those listed continents.
Come on. One street game in Jakarta ain't gonna count. There always was and will be the FIFA link. You really can't run a football draft ignoring FIFA links.I even asked a follow up question where I specified that the only requirement was literally "1 game outside of those listed continents"
The Intercontinental Cup was an official UEFA and CONMEBOL match and for two decades before the employment migration to Europe the Intercontinental Cup was taken extremely seriously by players, managers, clubs and fans alike.Come on. It's got nothing to do with corruption or importance of the organization. It's simply to create a common standard to aid in drafting. Without FIFA you'll get into numerous arguments about local games and leagues and charity and special occasion matches etc. It just makes life simple and common to all drafters and avoids unnecessary discussions over what is legit and what is not. You remember the old times, but most other younger posters would not. There needs to be a common standard and nothing is more obvious than FIFA.The Intercontinental Cup was an official UEFA and CONMEBOL match and for two decades before the employment migration to Europe the Intercontinental Cup was taken extremely seriously by players, managers, clubs and fans alike.
A corrupt organization like FIFA's endorsement of "official" should mean feck all in a historical sense TBH because every old timer I know like my gramps, his friends' generation to my friends and I to random old timers I met from both Europe and South America took that old match as perhaps even MORE competitive than anything else.
I can *maybe* understand you not allowing it, but I won't accept the silly logic that some corrupt organization in Switzerland is somehow more important players, managers, fans and UEFA and CONMEBOL
I get the feeling that you're beginning to regret running this draft .It's got nothing to do with corruption or importance of the organization. No way. None of drafts I run have ever been been 'simple'. I love these and will make things more 'interesting'.I get the feeling that you're beginning to regret running this draft .
Common sense would say the Intercontinental Cup counts as official. UEFA and CONMEBOL should be good enough. It's got nothing to do with corruption or importance of the organization. ISL is beyond common sense.Common sense would say the Intercontinental Cup counts as official. UEFA and CONMEBOL should be good enough.
Thanks. Decent cover in terms of attacking positions and formations as well.Talk about a tricky and elusive attack, Robben, Sindelar, Sivori and Mazzola .
I wanted to pick Lucio and asked EAP. But then he said no so I picked JOS instead@antohan was that excited to find someone from ISL?
Should have just asked one of us Indians in here.
Good man. However if you do anything to cost me McGrath I'll never forgive you.No way. None of drafts I run have ever been been 'simple'. I love these and will make things more 'interesting'.
Well, while I did think the wording was funny and technically included everyone at the 2002/10 World Cups, I thought that was quite clearly not the spirit of it.Yes.
I actually took Pillow's reply even more literally and liberally
If I had landed in that box I was actually going to pick a player that played in the old Intercontinental Cup in Japan.
I even asked a follow up question where I specified that the only requirement was literally "1 game outside of those listed continents"
So I was prepared to lobby for someone who played that "1 game" in Japan
To be honest, what I find weird is the interpretation that "playing a game" (FIFA or not) is the rationale behind the box and not "playing for a club".ISL is beyond common sense.
That's off till the first round matches.8 picks before the injury round!
I'm ready.8 picks before the injury round!
Would be a real shame. The challenge is replacing a player now, not once you have 5 subs. That's off till the first round matches.
Thanks for the info. That's off till the first round matches.
