Other Wingers?

If reports are to be believed, Inter officials are really firm on a price of £49M for Perišić (or even Martial) after United attempting to take advantage of their FFP situation. If we are unwilling to pay this (which for the quoted prices, I hope we are) which alternatives should we be going for?

It's clear that the squad has too many playmakers or forwards being forced into this role, but which proper wingers are left for us to go for? Who should we be trying to sign if not Perišić?

It's a shame the Di Maria transfer never really worked out.

I honestly cannot believe the price Inter want. I know he is there player but we look weak if we pay way over the odds.
50 million just through another 30 on top and get dembele if he is willing to come.

I am worried that Jose wants Perisic and if we don't get him, that is it. He thinks we need a winger. Without one it might be a problem as last season proved we cannot cross a ball, cannot take a corner and sure as hell are pretty hopeless at freekicks. We have to have some production from these areas.

Dembele or Mahrez. Mahrez is sort of available and a proven Premier league player who can help our attack.

Definitely need a proper winger.

Mata is probably going to play soley as a no.10 this season when we don't play 433. Rashford and Martial are going to take it in turns from the left (and up top), with Mkhitaryan and Lingard from the right (though I think Miki is also very likely to be used as a no.10 a lot, probably even more than out wide, especially if we sign another winger).

Mahrez is not remotely similar to Perisic but I'd welcome the move. But we need some sort of winger/wingback with Shaw and Young out

What about total left field and picking up someone like Mikel Oyarzabal? Young, happy to rotate and a proper left footed winger. Sure by no mean the finished article, but i'd like a signing in this ilk to at least gamble on some young talent.

I like Lemar a lot. He's a top yet underrated player imo. Not a winger in the Perisic mould though. Dembele, Sanchez you can forget

I can genuinely think of 10 wingers that would improve United this season. We must buy at least one winger, DM and full back to even compete for top four this season. It's crazy that our scouts haven't identified the top 10 players for each position at LEAST 6 months in advance of the summer window.

One way to solve this would be to have our LB be as attacking as our RB asnd offer some rwal overlapping thread. On the winger front I think Lemar, Dembele and Pulisic are the best options out there but none are easy to get, then there's Bernardeschi from Fiorentina. There's also Damari Grey from Leicester, he's raw but has decent attributes.

Dembele would be excellent but I don't see it. Not only would it be a difficult deal to do but Mourinho seems to want more defensively from his wingers.

I'd add Lucas Moura to that list. But they definitely are alternatives who would be better in my opinion.
If PSG actually did get Neymar (big IF), he would be available at a knockdown price too surely.

Ditto Lemar is going to become a really special player. Very different to Perisic, but I could see him excelling at United.

We'd need one with similar qualities. Seems Jose wants a winger who can track back, but also get forward quickly, beat a man and cross well.

Not too many of those.

I also reckon the left sided winger is going to be somewhat defensive minded so it will cover up some of Shaw's issues (as mourinho sees it)

Perisic is the only real winger left in the world.

If it's really a crossing issue, I'd rather we replace Shaw with Mendy than Martial with Perisic.

Demarai Grey strikes me as the kind of player who will go to Spurs and will be worth £60mil in a few seasons.

Still raw, but I think he would do well here.

left wing
Players who created more chances from crosses and completed more dribbles than Perisic last season:

Felipe Anderson, Lucas Moura, Fekir, Vela, Trejo, Neymar, Forsberg, Lemar, Boubedouz, Candreva, Alejandro Gomez.

One of them, perhaps.

You should watch Candreva, then you will be on your knees begging for mercy and Perisic.

Mark Albrighton is clearly the way to go. Out and out winger who won the league recently!

All of us at some point have dreamed about Albrighton pulling on the famous red of United. Now it could become a reality. Send Pogba there on loan, pay £30m and he's ours imo.

I agree. If it was SAF he would have been surely a target.

Wouldn't mind Zaha but don't think we will get him even for 40 Million.
