The papers are mentioning Jose interested in signing Luiz. Not a fan as a CB. Plays better in midfield. I remember him getting Nani booked in his first spell at Chelsea by simulation by the corner flag and the camera caught him laughing while lying down supposedly injured. Do not want.

Would be very good if we want to move to a 3 at the back permanently. I still wouldnt trust him in a 2 man CB defence though.

Thought that was Rafael?

Just what our squad needs first and foremost, another CB! (albeit one very good with the ball - not so sure without it though ).

Probably new contract time for him though? He's quite good in that Chelsea, 3CB formation.

As a chelsea fan, I hope this goes through. Would not be against a Shaw + Cash deal to be very honest.

The idea of him coming in as a replacement for Fellaini wouldn't be the worst idea, but I wouldn't trust him as a CB.

Also, would be another potential obstacle for Tuanzebe - not that I want him to get an easy ride into the first team but he surely deserves a chance before we go splashing even more cash.

Another centre back??

When are we going to sign a winger and a left back?

Surely nonsense.

We do not need a CB one bit, and we can sign actual midfielders to play in midfield. Plus he is 30, would cost a ton and brings more problems than its worth. Avoid at all costs. he is a disaster

Media drivel

No thanks. Last summer we needed to sign a top class experienced solid centre back, the Jaap Stam of our times. We didn't do that, instead we signed a young defender with a lot of potential.

David Luiz is a very good player, I think he's more disciplined than he used to be and he has a great mentality but;

1. He's not the type who'll be the cornerstone of our defence. He's no Terry, Rio, Vidic, Stam, Hypia, Carragher, King etc. It's only that calibre of CB who could improve our defence now.
2. We have 6 centre backs already.
3. We have other transfer priorities.

No thanks, would like to see Tuanzebe given his chance.

How much would he cost though? I'll leave it to Mourinho to pick our CBs.

I always thought he was overrated but in his defense he was the best CB in the league for the majority of last season.

I'm iffy though, especially if he cost a fortune. We need to invest heavily in RW, CAM, CM and Full backs.

Oh please for the love of all that is sacred and holy NO.....

Didn't Mourinho sell him and then flat out say he'd miss him as a person but not as a player?
I don't see why he'd suddenly change his mind drastically.

I mean, this just isn't happening.

..just remember the 7-0 trashing by Germany

My wife was walking in and out of the room during that game because I was laughing so much. Now she pretty much hates football and knows very little about it but every time she walked in there was another goal going in and Fuzzball was in the middle of the field flapping about like a headless chicken. Even she was able to see the man was crap - she was saying to me " I thought defenders had to stay back".....especially against decent teams.....

Hes absolute garbage - I seriously can understand how he is at a top club

Him and Fellaini in the team and we'll look ridiculous!

In all seriousness though, has Luiz ever played as a defensive midfielder?

I've always thought that would be a good position for him.

It was, and it was after Rafael got sent off. His only straight red for us.
Interesting. I remember he had a reputation for recklessness but always thought that was a bit harsh and probably down to his general demeanour more than anything.

Ever since that dive after which he smirked at the stands I love David Luiz. Absolute shambles of a defender with some moments of brilliance. Seems like an awesome guy though.

The lot of you saying he’s shit, when he’d be walking into your XI and improving your team :D always love the hate he gets on here.

If you do buy him, I assume you will go 3 at the back.

He can play in midfield and did a good job there when Benitez managed us for just 3/4 of a season.

Hate the bloke and don’t want him here. I don’t necessarily think he’d improve us either. I can’t believe any of these rumours.

Carragher? Hyypia? Check your references mate and see how many league titles these guys have.

4 reds in his career, only one straight red.
