He's a king at Chelsea, at Madrid he'd just be another cog in the machine and maybe even less once a younger, shinier toy arrives.

We'll see. I think us Utd fan seriously overrate the pull of Madrid due to losing Beckham, RvN and Ronaldo to them, but in the last few years which high-profile player have they really beaten any elite club to? Bale at a stretch and Utd under David effing Moyes hardly counted.
The only one we really lost was Ronaldo.

Beckham and Ruud were sold willingly.

Why shouldche sign for chelsea for that before listening to other suitors? If we decide we want him, we'll easily offer him quite a bit more than that
He'll listen alright. However, as I said, you signing a bona fide superstar is predicated on offloading the BBC for big bucks, and none of them seem to entertain the thought of leaving.

Our starters have been pretty bad this season too!

Abso-fecking-lutely necessary:
-starting quality CB
-backup LB(Theo is the left-footed Danilo. I can't fecking believe we got another one)
-Starting quality CF
-backup GK

Rest depends on whether we want to make serious changes to the midfield or not/player sales

We need to bring in a teacher-type of manager, someone in the Guardiola/Sarri/Klopp mold, who'll work heavily on tactics and will improve players

The dream would be Klopp-Koulibaly-De Vrij-Alex Sandro-Pogba-Neymar-Kane.

The more realistic scenario(what i think will happen) Guti-Odriozola-Hazard-Icardi. I really hope we don't sign Icardi. He's amazing in the box but far, far too limited for us. We can't keep relying on crosses ffs
Yeah I could see something like that happening and agree with you on Icardi, I don't even think he'd take Benzema's place. He'd be great off the bench or rotating with Benzema but he's too expensive for that.

Hazard + a striker to rotate with Benzema would be good enough to fix that attack. The players are pretty much all underperforming but most of the squad is more than good enough. You might very well go all in for Kane but that would cost a fortune so it's tough to predict what will happen.

I would be patient with Theo, he's still a young player and I think he's got potential but he can't be relied upon to start games yet nor should he with a guy like Marcelo.

I don't understand why Madrid is not going after Laporte, I'm sure it'd be more difficult to get Athletic to sell to a competitor in La Liga, but he's available on a release clause that's competitive with what Liverpool paid for VvD. The CF is the big question, and I think they would need to focus on getting Kane at all costs. There's simply no one better than him at the moment that they have a slight chance of getting.

What if Spurs and Chelsea are in the CL and Real aren't?
Everything I've said and most of the speculation on here is probably dependent on that. However, if they get eliminated from the CL, they only have La Liga left to focus on and I would expect them to manage to finish in the top 4 at that point. If they manage to get past PSG, it could prove more difficult and they would have to try all they can to win it all at that point to guarantee they can still get there next season.

I just hope Woodward isn't stupid enough to help fund their inevitable summer transfer spree by buying Ronaldo or Bale.

I don't want either at Utd.

I agree, but part of the fanbase always felt we were a bit of a feeder club to Madrid losing in succession our best 3 players in the span of 5-6 years. It's more psychological than anything.

We go hard for Hazard, we take him to be a starter, regardless of the BBC. And we could offer him more money than chelsea can afford. If we really want Hazard this summer, he's ours unless United decide they also want him as bad as we do, and he decides he fancies United more than us. Nobody else will be able to compete. Unless he really likes it at chelsea so much he'd rather stay there and earn considerably less. I find this possibility highly unlikely

I don't think he'll earn considerably less at all. Chelsea despite reigning in their transfer spending is still capable of offering their star player a competitive package to what other clubs offer.

Regarding Utd, I think you need not worry. I'm sure Mourinho fancies Hazard but Chelsea fans will burn down the Bridge if they sell him to us

Real are a far better team than their performances show. The BBC might be in decline but they still have plenty of quality to be seeing of the types off Leganes in the cup and to be higher up the La Liga table.

I wonder if there's disharmony in the squad or Zidane has lost the players. They certainly aren't performing anywhere near their abilities at the moment. And we have seen those in the last 2 years.

Why do Real Madrid have problems keeping a squad of players happy? So many players when they get linked to Real Madrid or Barcelona, claim it's a dream to play there, yet the second some of these players aren't guaranteed starters they look to leave. Even as a "squad player" at Madrid you'll likely play in at least 20 games a season and making really good money to boot. I hate them and don't really follow the drama that goes with that club, but did players like Ozil, Di Maria, James and Morata really want to leave or were they shown the door when huge offers started coming in?

No Dybala? I think he's the player most likely to join Real this years if we're getting Galacticos 3.0

180/200M Price range, "forward" player, scores a load, young, and Juve are at a disadvantage money-wise against Real. I'd say Dybala and Icardi are set for Real (at least one, maybe both) and Griezmann is a possibility, then either Kane or Ney (tho I doubt any of them) and the sleeper next star that will shine this World Cup.

Midfield and Defense is hard to say, you're not famous for having a solid plan in those areas, whoever is fit to get signed this summer, he will come. I wouldn't discard Isco leaving this summer if he has a good WC and someone wants to splash some money.

Chelsea are offering him £300k a week and can't really go beyond that. We could offer him £400k easily. Chelsea cannot compete with us financially

I think you are underestimating Chelsea but that's just my opinion. 100k more in wage is what, 25m more spread over a 5 year contract? And they can still sell him then for a good fee. Even if they manage, say, 80m from you guys considering he's in the last year of his contract, who can they buy with that amount that can replace him?

You can of course pay him what you are paying Bale right now, but your wage to turnover ratio is already dangerous and he can't be the only signing you make in the summer.

Ozil wanted more money, was unhappy at us signing Isco and Bale and basically having to fight for his spot after 3 years of being our second best player, and his father made the mistake of pissing off Flo during contract negotiations. Di Maria, Flo never liked him, already tried to offload a yesr before to make space for Bale, had a monster season and asked for a raise, Flo took the chance to run a smear campaign and get rid. James was out of favour with the manager and team. Morata wanted to play more and knew he'd never displace Benzema

Hazard's easier to get than Dybala(contract situation), also more known and we've had interest for a while. Dybala would be great but i think between the two we'll go after Hazard first

Bolded part, read that sentence again. You're Spanish

Of which a huge percentage will be Ronaldo and Bale. I personally reckon Benzema will end up staying with Ronaldo and Bale sold at a reasonable price.

40 to 50 million each will pay a big chunk of Hazard's fee whilst leaving you over 100 million to bring in a starting striker before really testing your finances and also cutting down on wages.

It is complicated to think about the squad without knowing the coach. Hazard always seems to be related to Zidane and not with a desire of the club. If it's Löw, he may have a preference among the top players and Pochettino invites you to think of Kane.
There are countless combinations of signings and players leaving, even unexpected.
In any case I'm curious to see how far they come with the renovation, and find out if we did not sign because it was not necessary or because we can not afford it, and above all, see if we can overcome what Barcelona put on the table.

I wonder what Florentino will do with Cristiano. I don´t think the fans (who gave him a standing ovation the other day) are totally ready to see him leave. Changing a madridista, with so much charisma, paying loads of money for Neymar, his father and his whims, I don´t think the socios are convinced at the moment(maybe they will be after the tie)

It's the opposite for me - I think people underrate the drawing power of both Madrid and Barcelona (or at least they secretly recognise it, but won't admit it). When they come calling for the top players, they generally go.

Just look at the player history of both clubs. No other clubs can compete with that.

Yet PSG told Barca where to go and took Neymar off them, Utd got Pogba over Madrid and both have never tried to take the likes of Silva/Aguero.

They are big draws and there will always be plenty of world class players growing up dreaming to be there, especially South Americans, but on the whole money talks and Utd and the sugar daddy clubs can easily compete.

It's not quite how you paint it. Neymar wanted to leave Barcelona because he didn't want to play second fiddle to Messi anymore. That's the main reason why he's no longer there. It can also be argued that the Neymar transfer to Barcelona proved to be more trouble than it was worth and that they're better off without him. They have more balance in the side now.

Also, was Real Madrid really in for Pogba at the time? I seem to recall plenty of reports or, at least rumours, that Real was Pogba's preferred destination too. Let's face it - why would he have preferred United to that Real team?

Lastly, why would Real or Barcelona have gone for Silva or Aguero? Who would they have started ahead of?

Roncero tonight
Translation? (I can guess I suppose but go on anyway)

This team has betrayed Zidane ... Real Madrid is a club that does not give chances to youngsters and B teamers who are non superstars.
Despite this, under great pressure, Zizou has taken a chance on Theo (garbage), Ceballos (overconfident), Asensio (overconfident), Kovacic (overconfident) and Llorente (underconfident).
Shame on these five ... utterly disgusting.
The summer transfer season was a disgrace ... no point wasting money in winter, there needs to be a massive clearout in Summer 2018.
Out: Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Modric
In: Center Back, Icardi, Dybala, Kante

in shambles, de gea would be foolish to go there, our club would be foolish to take their aging/crook player to fund them
they aren't getting pogba , de bryune or salah , lewy will rob them if they try to go for kane , they might getting hazard and Courtois , if they manage to qualify to ucl next year
let these cnut rot in the league , hopefully exodus happens :lol:
we can try taking some of their player such as kroos, carvajal, casemiro

So Zidane plays a second-string team in the cup competition that he could have actually won, and rests key players for the league which he has already lost. Makes sense.

Had a mess of a transfer window, said so myself when they had it. It's to big a gamble to trust untested players at the top level to waltz in and do the job at a club like Madrid and they are now paying the price. I mean, Mayoral scored two goals on loan yet he's the only other striker in the squad, that's absolute madness for a club that size. One thing that can't be accounted for is just how many chances they manage to miss, I've never seen a side so goal shy in my life. They are now creating for no reason at this point.

I think Aguero won’t stay at city last this season and if pogba was offered a starting spot at either Madrid or Barca he’d go in a heartbeat.

I’m struggling to remember who their last big signing was, without googling it. Was it Bale?

I don’t really get the sale of Morata either. They’re bare bones when it comes to out and out strikers.

Modric, Ronaldo, Kroos, Bale & Benzema aren’t getting younger to add to the above.

Someone who watches them more often, what’s happened? How could they fall so much in less than a year!

He was offered a starting spot and he chose us. We blew them out money wise on that deal.

Barca was sniffing around Veratti and they got Neymar taken away from them. The hissy fits they threw in the summer runs contrary to your point. Trouble or not, they wanted to keep him, and what followed was making the best of a bad situation. You are telling me before this season they would want to pay 250m in total for Dembele and Coutinho?

Real were in for Pogba, but wasn't prepared to match our offer and we got him. What he preferred didn't matter, we got the target and they didn't. If the lure was so big, why wouldnt he be at Real right now?

And you are seriously telling me throughout the years Silva's and Aguero's performance wouldnt merit a transfer to either club given that Barca bought the likes of Turan and Paulinho just recently? It's also rumoured that Real have a non-aggression pact with City because the latter can offer ludicrous money to tempt their players.

They definitely have big pull, but bar the period in late 2000s and early of this decade, their pull were no bigger than the Italian and English clubs respectively. Big players go to the best league/where there's most money. La Liga had their turn then, after the Serie A in the 90s and the English clubs in 2000s.

And if we are being brutally honest, only Real can claim to have a bigger pull than the other elites due to their CL history. Barca is benefiting from the most successful period ever in their history due to having the GOAT but whether they can continue to have that pull in the future remains to be seen.

They've always had pull though - Cruyff, Maradona, Laudrup, Romario, etc.

Wrong. Cristiano Ronaldo was the main reason why Morata actually took the decision to leave Chelsea.

Both of them thrives to play centrally on the field and wants to the main man in attack.

Morata was usually pushed out to the left wing every time when Cristiano played and ended up being utter shite.

There's a reason why Morata looked much better in the B-team as the final receiver with Asensio, James etc. feeding him last season.

Blaming on Benzema is just revisionism

We will sign a striker for sure though, but if Cris stays, so does benzema and it will be a backup
Lol. Good like for Kane, Icardi or whoever the out-and-out striker might be coming to Madrid and end up having a new Morata situation lol.

And it'd make sense if CR7 started to be a back-up since RM needs to move on and can't depend on a declining 33 y/o dude.

Seems more and more likely that Zidane is heading for the exit and Madrid will spend big this summer. On whom they will buy will depends on the next manager IMO.
If Pochettino becomes the next manager, hopefully we will take Kane, Eriksen and Lloris with him. :D Although I would love Kane and Eriksen at our club instead, but a Glaston meltdown would be worth it.

They would be stupid to spend big money on De Gea considering they want to sign few outfield players who will cost very big money.

They will spend around 300m euros imo net. They'll sell Ronaldo too.

Hopefully we stay well clear of their players, at least Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema.

On the other hand if we can get anyone of Kroos, Kovacic, Modric for decent fee we should go for them.
