We made them look like a Premier League team early on in the game. They even managed to make Romero work on certain occasions. But it turned out great in the end, so kudos to the (light version of our) team for that.

It was an avant-goût of our eventual trip to the Etihad. Bald opposition manager, check. Stadium resounding with boos and choruses of "What a waste of money!" whenever Alexis touches the ball, check. Stadium filled to bursting, ch-, er let's keep that one pending, shall we? You never know with City.

But what to say about Alexis? After shrugging off that X-rated tackle by Smith he completed ruled the game. Smith's Indian summer spent in a meditation retreat a year and a half ago couldn't dull his aggressiveness in that instance, but what followed was true football nirvana by Alexis. We played to his rhythm, awaited his sparks of flair to pounce on and boy did he oblige. He mesmerised the defense, made eagle-eyed passes through the congested pack of green shirts, and when needed, wrenched the ball away from the opposition players. On one occasion he even seemed to do a Jedi mind trick, sending two Yeovil players sprawling in random directions. Maybe it's too early to call, but I think the no. 7 shirt has at last found a (very diminutive, it has to be said) owner.

I enjoyed the game far more than I expected to. Expectations have been dashed by my team in the past, and even the hype surrounding our Chilean maestro hadn't engendered great hope of a good game for me. And, at first we struggled significantly, even for a second string selection. But I did end up enjoying the game after all that happened. I particularly liked that Mourinho kept the steam up by replacing attacking players with ones of similarly offensively-oriented ones, and was rewarded by two more goals. Lingard again surprised me with his impressive run and nicely taken goal, though why I should still be surprised after him consistently proving his critics wrong, I simply do not know.

Of course we do need to see how the usual first team gels together with Alexis in it. I still have no idea where he will end up playing with Martial in the team, and how he will link up with Lukaku. And true, it was only Yeovil. But I hope it's the beginning of a new era, clichéd as that might sound.

Shouldn't be allowed to play on such awful pitches. Such ties should automatically be played at the big clubs stadium. Bigger gate will provide for much more revenue for the lower league team so win win anyway.

Good professional performance after a rough start.

Alexis looked short of match fitness but his class shone through as the game went on. Didn't help that they were doing a hatchet job on him. He's going to be amazing to watch.

Herrera getting a goal is important - Been sad watching him this season but he looked a little more himself in the second half.

Great to see the three forwards scoring as well. Think Lingard is giving Mourinho a seriously tough decision to make on Wednesday. He'd probably want to go with three in CM but his form is just astonishing.

Angel Gomes continues to look special. If he keeps his focus he will be making first team appearances very soon.

The only negative of the game - Darmian. Seriously has stood out in every game he's played this season as not good enough. Would have preferred we kept Tuanzebe as our back up to Valencia because if we keep playing him in this competition he will cost us.

Would have liked to have seen more of Gomes. He did more in those 5 minutes than Mata did all game. Mata didn't really do much wrong, but Gomes came on and immediately went at them. Good to see.

Pitch was awful. Looking forward to seing Sanchez play where the ball doesn't bobble all over the place when he runs with it. He was practically juggling it when he played Herrera in.
Harsh on Mata.

Yeah, Annihilate Now pulled me up on that, I'd forgotten about his involvement in the 2nd goal, which I corrected. That was great play. I do think he could have asserted himself on the game a bit more than he did, given the difference in quality. Admittedly my post was blinkered with excitement after seeing Gomes go at them and almost score within 20 seconds. Would have been great to see him for a bit longer.

We are going to be a real force with Sanchez and especially when players around him click.

On a sour note, Lindelof gives me the willies.
He struggles against this kind of opposition, and will need to step up his aerial game if he is to become a good defender for us.

I don't think Sanchez was great to be honest, but happy to see him make his debut in a relatively comfortable game.

I think he is not 100% match fit as Jose said in pre-match.

Darmian looks out of his depth against championship teams, nevermind teams like Yeovil Town. Worst player I've ever seen at United, sell ASAP! Great to see Carrick making his return into the side and Gomes getting some minutes, although I don't expect him to get any more minutes this season, except for maybe in the last league game of the season if it is a meaningless game. From what I saw a lot of our best play came through Sanchez, I have been saying to people for ages that the creative side of Alexis is very underrated, great to see his United debut! :) Still not convinced that Lindelof will ever better than a backup centre back for us, far worse than Bailly, Jones, Rojo (of last season) and Smalling. I hope Sanchez and Martial play together, the one big concern I had and still have about signing Sanchez was if he basically kicks Martial out of the team, taking his spot in the side. I'm optimistic that we can win the FA cup and put out a very good showing at the very least in the champions league.

Good performance overall.

Alexis start a little shaky but that's to be expected for his debut. Then he start doing amazing plays and passes with good vision. I really hope he plays as a free role 10 where he can move to the wings anytime he wants. Imagine he and Martial interchanging places between the left and the center and he doing the same on the right with Lingard. It will be a nightmare for defenders. You could also see on this game he did great plays when he move to the center. He definitely can do that role with no problem.

Lingard again doing a great cameo and a really good goal, and that Lukaku goal was great as well. Really well played by Rojo and Herrera there.

Cant wait for Spurs with Alexis, Martial, Pogba and Lukaku all starting

Not long been back in my hotel. We tried everything to get a good atmosphere going but with no roof on the away end it was really tough.

First half Sanchez was woeful. But if he was struggling with both the pitch and getting to know his new team mates, he still managed to play big parts in 2 goals. Luke Shaw was excellent tonight as was Carrick.

All in all professional performance.

My 4-0 prediction was correct woo! Didn't realise I sat top of the leader board .

A very professional performance, we put a good side out, no half arsed performances, everyone did what was required.

Fair play to Yeovil, they had a go, especially in the first half and they didn't make it easy for us. I don't get all these fans having a go at some of the challenges they made on our players, this is what happens in the Football League, deal with it.

I have quite a few connections to the town, one being that my Mrs is from there. I really hope they stay up but the odds are stacked against them, lowest budget in the league, the chairman appears to have been bleeding the club dry for a very long time and playing the poor us act about them being broke. There was peaceful protests before the start of the match from the fans (Some who apparently did not even enter the ground last night) against the board and the manager Darren Way who seems like a decent bloke and I think it's a bit harsh to point fingers at him for their plight.

My man of the match tonight is Martin Keown, as Owen Hargreaves would say an exceptional performance...

So cool to see Alexis doing pretty much the same thing he used to do at Arsenal but now it works! Finally some good players to connect with

I guess you can't draw many conclusions from a game like that, but Gomez looks like he might be amazing if he stays on the rails.

I should not say this after a 4-0 win but I really do not see what positives Mata brings to the game now.
Eh? He made Herrera's goal and showed strength holding the ball(weird to see someone so tiny act as a target man) for it. Criticise his numbers etc in general but he was good tonight.

Fantastic result and a very good 2nd half on a dreadful pitch. Sanchez MOTM for being the difference when it mattered.
WOW, I didn't realize that. When you read some of the threads around here you would think we languishing mid table, especially the match day threads. We are obviously pretty well organized and coached, just need a little more flair in the final third.

Considering the opposition, condition of the pitch and the changes in personnel I think we did very well against Yeovil. A few scares in the first half but we controlled the game for the most part.

Sanchez looked the part and I am sure he will have a massive impact rest of the season. He has an hunger and urgency that will rub off on the players around him. His eagerness to get the ball and make something happen stood out to me. His movement and willingness to come back for the ball will help Matic and Pogba a hell of a lot.

They were certainly doing their best to take him out of the game with shithouse tackles. They failed. Despite the obvious rustiness he still showed himself comfortably the best player on the pitch.

Their comment just doesn't make any sense at all.

Game was under control for about 75 of the 90 minutes. Really enjoyed watching Sanchez run the show. Another clean sheet, two of the subs scored goals, Carrick returned, and the starters got an extended rest. Great all around.

Good solid professional performance. I can certainly understand how the first half went. Main thing is trying to allow these guys who haven’t played with each other that much to get to know each other. The pitch was so bad our players were probably just trying to not get injured.

Thought Sanchez looked good but need to get to used to how we play.

Gomes was electric! We need to see more of him!

Romero makes his saves look so easy. His positioning is very very good. He just looks like he’s moving slowly but he’s always there.

Defense a bit shaky.
