Yeah, only flaw is that Jones hasn't played one minute in any other competition.
Will be interesting to see if Jones is preferred for the CL knockout games. Because so far it can seem like he's played in the most important games when fit, and rested for some others.

Except Jones is more proven and achieved more in the game than Bailly, who is starting to become slightly overrated on here IMO (feel free to disagree, just my thoughts)

As I mentioned earlier, Jones has more PL appearances this season than Bailly and Rojo combined this season (granted they have had big injuries, but in Jones' career with us - when fit he almost always is picked to start, you'll rarely see him warming the bench).

Jones has a PL medal, has delivered great performances against big teams e.g. Real Madrid away in the CL knockout stages and is rated very highly by all his managers

Yet apparently Bailly is levels ahead of Jones for some unknown reason on here...

IMO our CB's (from best to worst) are:

Jones
Bailly
Smalling

Rojo
Lindelof
All I said, is that Bailly is a more high performance athlete, who plays recklessly, and Jones is not as high performance, who plays recklessly. I didn't make any indication of who I thought was "better".

You seem overly sensitive towards Jones, that you'd take what I wrote and then launch into a speech about how Jones is the best.

It seems that the reverse of what usually happens when a player is out long-term is happening here: Bailly seems to be getting under-rated.

He’s an excellent defender and we’re really missing him.

Yeah, reading this thread is surprising. He's a young defender who's got imperfections but he leads that backline better than most. With him in the team this season your win percentage is 80%.

He's our best CB and I bloody love him.

One of the best CBs in the league and our best C.B by far.
Can he play our C.L games?

Apparently he is back in training.

Brilliant news, hope he's fully healed, would be a disaster if we brought him back too soon and he injured himself again.

Absolutely. Wouldn't want to risk him if there are doubts. Make sure that he can be first defender on the team sheet until the end of the season. The other four can then fight for their futures.

Doesn't that apply to every injury ever? It's been three months, a perfectly reasonable amount of time for his injury and surgery, I'm not sure why you'd worry that he's been rushed back. Especially when we've got four others who can play centre back and despite reservations we've still had the most clean sheets and conceded the least so it's not like we're rushing him.

Yeah I'm just being dramatic, he'll be fine.

Our defence is fairly good without him, but I think we certainly have a lot more quality in the team when he's playing.

this. We can't afford a Wes Brown Mark II especially since Smalling and Jones are hardly Rio and Vidic.

What are the chances of either Smalling or Jones (aka chuckle brothers) injuring Bailly in training and then them being rewarded with a new contract as we will be short in that department.

Why do you care? You've already written the season off.

His return will be a huge boost, though his form before he got injured was incredibly ropey. I'd be wary of throwing him straight back in at CL knockout level. Shame he won't be ready for a run out against Huddersfield at the weekend.

That's good news but let's remember it will be a while before he is match fit and he's not exactly Rio or Vidic but he's better than Chris Smalling of late.

Is he actually any good though? I seem to remember thinking at beginning of this season that he is half decent and the best of a bad bunch.

What in the world did he even do to his ankle, anyway? Three months seems to be pretty absurd for a non-break. Then again, I'm no doctor.

Yes he's our best centre back and one of the best in the league when fit. He has a scary amount of potential just hope he stays clear of injuries.

What a fecking miserable bunch you lot are.
Nothing can please this lot atm.

He wasn't always a first choice when fit.
Maybe Jose fancies him on the bench with Lindelof?

The ankle has a low tolerance for error in regards to healing. It’s pretty high up on the list of joints you don’t want to feck up.

*disclaimer: I’m no doctor either, I’ve just suffered ankle problems including a break.
