One of the worst United line up I have even seen on CL knock out stage.

Great to be back in the knock out stages of the Champions League again.

Feels like a lifetime since we were in it.

    Mourinho's latest injury update
MUTV have just screened a quick chat with Mourinho from Seville, filmed yesterday, in which he gave no hint of any problems with Pogba or Shaw.

    Everyone is well, he said.

    The media shit-stirring 'triggers' me.

F*ck this. I'm off to watch Celebrities in a Wheelie Bin on C5.

    United's lack of creativity
We may yet be proved wrong, but Mourinho has effectively started three defensive-minded midfielders. Matic is a specialist holder, Herrera has been converted into a defensive midfielder and McTominay, with his lateral passing, is arguably one as well.

There’s a dearth of creativity there, and that is without considering Matic’s poor form in recent months and Herrera’s hangover from winning the Sir Matt Busby award nine months ago. After seeing 24 goals in the six previous knockout first legs, we may not get another goal fest tonight.

We'll concede about 4, 5 chances, score 2 goals and close shop.

And we'll worry about Pogba till Sunday.

Leaving out Pogba is going to draw the obvious complaints, but in our 2 UCL Group Stage away wins we started Matic & Herrera. Pogba played in the away loss to Basel.

Lindelof and Smalling started together in those 2 victories as well. Sevilla scored 8 total goals in their 3 UCL Group Stage home matches, my guess is that Jose wants some sort of consistency in the middle of the pitch, he'll play possession football, try to keep the scoring to a minimum and gladly accept an away goal as we head back to Manchester.

I wouldn't about them too much if I were a United fan. The two games I watched them in Vs LFC they were pretty dire and if not for Liverpools amazing ability to throw away leads with comical clown-like defending it'd have been two easy wins. You have a far superior tendency to keep a lead and shut teams out so I'm expecting a cakewalk here, 3-0 or so with barely a trouble and then close it out over in Spain with a draw or close win. Playing McTominay shows Mourinho doesn't fear them at all and he's got every right to think like that, they're no more threat than West ham.

We are playing in Spain tonight.

Jose likes Mc Tominay he likes the player who fights and don't stop running for the team even if his football not that good yet, the problem is Pogba sometimes you see him like having a walk and Jose surely looked like fed up which will lead to bigger problems between the two IMO. Both should have some serious talk for the team's sake.

    Hard not to wonder whether...

    Romero
    Shaw
    Bailly
    Jones
    Darmian
    Carrick
    Pogba
    Fellaini
    Lingard
    Martial
    Rashford

...would beat this lot. It's tricky to call whether the eleven we've picked it definitely stronger. Let's see though.

People whining about the lineup, remind how well a lineup of Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Matic, Sanchez and Lukaku worked out playing Spurs & Newcastle?

The problem for me in those games wasn’t so much the personnel but the formation (4231) Ironically it looks like he’s actually going or a proper 433 tonight but picked the wrong squad to do so.

He’ll probably go back to a 4231 against Chelsea and not get the best out of our star players again.

Everyone thought Chelsea would get trounced yesterday after the lineups came out. Conte seemed to have something figured out anyway, hopefully JoMo can do the same

Starting to get worried. Feel like we are underestimating sevilla. They press pretty aggressive and crowd will be up for it. Scott is still a kid and he might not survive more than 45 mins .Genuinely bemused at going with 4 at the back . Should've gone for 352.

Do we think there is an actual rift between Jose and Pogba?

    This is concerning.

Yes,I believe that there is a rift and I’m very concerned.

Mourinho has history for falling out with star players just before imploding.

Benching Pogba and Martial for the biggest game of the season so far is crazy.

Hope we can grind out a 0-0 draw because I can't see anything more.

I have to agree, there's a lot to like about the lineup. But some have ruled us out even before playing.

You know what the sensitive lot are like.

Hopefully the negativity will mean a good performance, because normally when there's optimism, we get let down by poor performances. See the Spurs game.

    Deja vu team news
The underwhelming side Mourinho has gone for tonight evokes memories of the reaction to his team at Swansea last year. Jones started his first game in 10 months, Rojo was retained when his stock had never been lower, the full-backs were Darmian and Young and Rooney was in a pedestrian attack with Ibrahimovic and Mata. United won 3-1.

Sevilla are not as bad as Swansea but they aren’t as good as their reputation suggests. They’ve shipped five on four separate occasions this season and loaned Sandro Ramirez from Everton last month. He scored in in 17 for them. Which was in a 5-1 defeat.

He really should play Pogba. Whatever's gone on with them, this is going too far.
Sevilla are no mugs, we really need all the best players there.

Anyway, let's see if this works out.

Pogba making the bench is ok.

Darmian on the bench over Shaw is nuts though.

In fact, Caf's dream lineups have pretty much never ever worked IRL. Some cleary play too much FM or FIFA :D

I mean i'm not saying this means a comfortable win or anything but the the last 2 times away from home that featured those players ended up losses. IMO Jose would be more mentally stupid and stubborn to go with that lineup than he is going with this. At least here he's switching some things up. '

Guy is really damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Goes with that lineup again and he losses for a 3rd time and people would be whining about him being too stubborn

Switches it up like he is here and well you've read the thread.

Quite surprised with the line up. Hopefully all players who start the match will play very well. Lets beat sevilla. 2-0 is good.

That's from MUTV. If they are shit stirring we are in trouble.

Team isnt bad, little uninspiring but should be good enough to get a draw away from home.

Am genuinely shocked at that. To me, the quotes in the tweet are basically calling out Mou for not playing people. MUTV should be behind the manager and the team. Mou's done nothing wrong here.

come on united....not bothered who is starting, whos on the bench, whos the best player, whos got the best haircut or who has the best goal celebration, lets just go out and bring a result back

Jose really icy in the pre-match interview, gets annoyed by the constant Pogba questions.

Confirms that Pogba didn't start last game because he didn't feel he could play, and he prefers McTominay tonight.

    At least he picked DDG.

Pogba has to be carrying a knock.

    Let's bury these guys today.
