Completely deserved. Cowardly from Jose and cowardly from the players. We had ample warning before they scored and totally ignored it. One of the worst performances I can remember, against a very average team. Once again, there’s no identity in our play, I’m not sure what we’re trying to achieve a lot of the time, but good results have covered this up slightly.

You’re in the fecking Champions League, ffs, get stuck in or feck off. What was the point in winning the Europa League and trying to finish top 4? To go out without trying!?

All players bar Lukaku and Bailly were sh*te, Mourinho pathetic tactically, Fellaini instead of McTominay, Sanchez staying on for 90 mins when it was clear he couldn't do anything good today, Mata on the bench and subbing on Pogba to play in a midfield two, when we were completely overrun.

Mourinho is a fecking coward. Disgraceful performance from the start. Man Utd don't deserve more. We're not quarter final material.

We just spent 160 minutes trying to nick a goal against an average Sevilla side.

Doesn’t get anymore cowardly than that.
This is what annoys me the most. They are a nothing team, and we, being the cowards that we are, didn't even bother to create some half-decent chances.

Money will solve nothing. Which players out there fit our playing style? None because we dont have one. We go for names.

Guess what, we will get more names next year, Bale etc but it won't make a difference.
Don't know about that. Proper fullbacks (not makeshifts on both sides) and a top class playmaker (i.e. not Lingard) would go a long way.

Well until Jose pisses off this is what we can expect. The loser one, still don’t know what Sanchez and Pogba bring to the team. Why didn’t he stick with the same team as Saturday? Tactics were pathetic and Sevilla outclassed Utd on their own pitch, better football, better tactics and definitely more desire.

Lukaku was immense ... except for the two early chances he could have buried. :(

Rashford was the hardest worker and kept trying to drag his team through, but there just wasn't enough around him.

I thought Sanchez was brought in to be a closer, but he's so far from that. He had almost zero impact on the game.

Everyone else did exactly what they've done all season long, and Sevilla clearly scouted them and pounced.

Very disappointing.

But at least United haven't conceded more than two goals in any competition still ... :|

We were never going to win this competition this season. But was a bad way to go out. We knew we had to win the game, but it seemed like we would have been happy with 0-0 and extra time.

We actually started the game quite well playing some one touch stuff. But that only lasted 10 minutes. After which it was end to end because both teams were giving the ball away easily.

Sanchez was brought in to strengthen the attack, but he has done nothing so far this season. Why is he playing on the left? We had that position sorted with Martial and Rashford. Makes no sense.

Don't think Pogba was fully fit, maybe shouldn't have come on?

Lukaku did well. He actually seems to care and held up the ball well. At one point in the second he fended off 3-4 challenges, later it off to a teammate, only for it to be given away instantly. So frustrating.

First time admitting this but I don’t want Jose here next season. I can’t take anymore of these defensive tactics. I have no idea which person can come in and bring us attacking flair but I can’t take Jose no more!

I’m so angry at the way we conceded the first goal! Our whole back 4 passing the ball to each other across the pitch! Where is our urgency to take the ball forward to score!
We lose it and then concede! So, so poor. What a truly disgraceful performance from us and Jose. It’s unacceptable

To be perfectly honest, Sevilla were much better in both games.

They wanted it more than us. They pressed us to the point that we didn’t know how to manage the game. We were lacking ideas and we just allowed them to come at us when we lost possession.

Something HAS to change. We don’t seem too bothered.

Where is the ambition?

Mourinho must own up to setting us up completely wrong for this game. It reminded me of the LVG days, probably worse actually.

Sir Alex would of absolutely lost it at half time with that performance. This cannot continue.

How many times do we need to acknowledge that playing cautiously is destined for failure.

If these sorts of performances continue then Mourinho won’t be in the job for too long. Its okay to lose a game - providing that we at least give it a go.

Absolute killer that was. Absolutely disgraceful.

We needed our two big players, Sanchez and Pogba, to step up tonight.

They didn't. Mata should have started over Sanchez.

That was horrendous, slow painful football. Poor performance from near enough everyone except Lukaku, Bailey and DDG.

Jose with his negative tactics really pisses me off. Come on, for God sake let’s go and attack Sevilla from the get go and not hope for a goal while trying to keep it tight at the back. It’s Sevilla not Liverpool or Chelsea.

The FA Cup is Jose’s only hope, because I can’t watch another year of this type of football. I respect the guy and think he has all the tools but Jose does not understand or play the United way.

Sad.

Change the players or the manager? Jose has saved the rott caused by gaal and moyes but he can't progress us to the next level anymore. His tactics are ancient, he's lost the players and he looks a shadow of his former self. His reputation is the only thing takimg him forward.

That was the worst game of football I have seen us play in 2 years espexially given the importance and need to win. Fa cup left? I have no hope. I'd rather play the youngsters goimg forward sack this clown and bring giggs to be temp manager.

Our midfield is incredibly poor. Nzonzi/Benega completely bossed that game just like the 1st leg. One of the reasons I want to see Fellaini sold is it'll finally put an end to managers seeing him as a legitimate option there.

Honestly didn’t see the game as I’d training myself, but surely it can’t be as simple as the managers not good enough and needs sacked or half the players are shite and need sold, blame definitely lies with players and Jose, it’s just a pity we crashed out like we did especially after such a superb result at the weekend and all the positivity surrounding that.

Shite night for the club but hopefully it serves as a kick up the hole for the lads and they can pick themselves up, consolidate 2nd and hopefully bring home an FA Cup.

this is the match that made me decide to stop watching united whilst mourinho is at the club, that was truly one of the worst displays I have witnessed from united and these dreary, unambitious displays have been extremely consistent since mourinho took charge, so fed up with all these cautious minded managers being hired since fergie left, pure embarrassment after witnessing man city and liverpool breeze through their ucl ties.

Mourinho out, if you wanted Van Gaal out you simply cannot defend these types of performances, which have been a constant for most of the last 12 months.

Can’t wait for all the muppets on here to tell me I’m a stupid cnut, please go ahead...

Disgusting performance... Lukaku the only one who doesn't deserve to be slated. Why all WC players we buy are shite for us?

Sanchez - another Di Maria? Pogflop no comment. DDG should save the 2nd but that was not why we lost the game. Negative tactics from Mr. Moubus - again. Against Sevilla at home ffs. They are in Quarter-final after 60 years! (another record broken at OT).

And shabolic performance from all but Lukaku. Stop buying mercenaries who don't play for the shirt just for money.

Absolutely gutted! Took everything from the Liverpool win and threw it out the window. Decided to go with our worse available midfielder, who has just return from injury and put him in a position where he has shown time and time again does not play to his strengths. United must be ready to announce Fellaini's contract extension and this must have been agreed to as part of his new deal.

People will blame Mourinho for being too negative, but Sanchez was completely invisible the entire game as were Lingard to a lesser extent. Our midfield couldn't manage to move the ball forward and were completely outplayed by their midfield the entire game. Rashford tried to make something happen and Lukaku fought pretty well, but those are about the only slightly positive things. Shameful performance all around.
Sanchez has been dreadfull since we bought him. Seems to totally not work in this system and the role Mourinho wants him to play. If he isn't playing well enough than take him off or don't start with him to begin with.

Jose suffers a lot of shite in the press et al, but anything coming towards him after tonight would be justified! What irritates me is that I'm sitting here with the feeling we didn't even try to win. We had a few bright moments, but this was just awful.

This has been our standard home performances in Europe since early EL knockout stages. We cant seem to play slow and controlled without slipping into sloppy and nervous.
I complained yesterday when Jose said we weren't contenders and now I can see why. Its feels more like confirmation rather than anger.

Disgusted by the performance.

Have to applaud the fans that stayed til the end. I never advocate leaving early but I was close to shutting off the tv as the second went in, can't imagine how they felt.

Mourinho is fecking coward, he plays McTominay in most matches but as soon as Fellaini is fit he reverts back to him.

I hope to see the back of them both this summer...utter joke!

I don't understand it. Can someone explain how we could execute a very good tactical plan almost to perfection vs Liverpool and then a few days later fail so miserably to do anything of note against Sevilla? Is it a lack of fitness? Was Jose trying to save stamina by lining up and playing so negatively? Can our players only be arsed for the biggest occasions? Did Jose simply underrate Sevilla?

I really don't get it and it makes me sad.
Sevilla are better than Liverpool.
The "tactics" employed are volatile in their results.
We haven't been using training sessions to practice attacking since 2010.

Take your pick.

Hate to use this word but pure Embarrassment.

Sub Pog on and he didn't help the build up, letting the same culprits try to play pass the ball out but ended up in trouble when Pogba was in position to help. Bailly played Yedder onside but no where close to him. Easiest shot the entire game.

Then showed weak mentality, being shell shocked the bunch of them for the second goal. Sevilla has like 3 players in our box and we couldn't defend. Bailly went to sleep completely. Whether his man successfully knock on or not is not the matter. Bailly could have defended it if he was in that zone. Young defended far post is never a good idea. DDG for all the greatness for other game, he couldn't put the ball over the cross bar.

Nearly gave them an easy third goal. Again, no midfield with Matic being isolated with more than 1 runners to picked out. Shite offside line.

The team only came back to live to get the consolation goal, then again lost the fire. This might be Sevilla controlled the flow well at the end. Well deserved to lose

I mean, will it be this bad next season? That's my only question.

Do you give this manager another £200m-£300m, or start over?

I don't see how it's not a legitimately quandary.
I honestly feel we could sign Messi and Jose would suck the life out of him inside 6 months, so what's the point of giving him more money? Unfortunately, I think it's time to start over with someone who doesn't hate positive attacking football.

It's just truly ridiculous that we put in such a scared performance, showing that much respect to a team of that level is laughably defensive. There was no need for it. Why don't we go at teams from the first whistle? We have the talent to destroy teams, but we're setup to do the exact opposite.

we were counting on Sevilla's poor finishers, as soon as someone who could put their chances away came on everything came down crashing.

everything was wrong today, game plan, tactics, and lineups.

If we sacked Jose who would replace him?

I too like others are fed up with this defensive rubbish style of football but who else is there? Then it would be how thy need time to rebuild the squad, yadda yadda

Cowardly, shameful, disgraceful. Jose and the players should be embarrassed to play like that in a CL knockout match at home. Moyes at least had a go against Bayern FFS

Grotesque. Strolling around and giving the ball away in a manner no team, on any rung of the football ladder in any country, should deem acceptable.

The best thing about it was I would have been at the game but the fella who had the tickets got the raging shits and had to cry off. Novovirus is my motm.

This is also 100% true: I buried my grandmother today and watching this match felt worse. At least at the funeral I got to spend time with my family remembering the good times.

The amazing thing is not that Sevilla won, there can always be an upset in a knockout competition, it’s that Sevilla outplayed United for 180 minutes with more possession and more shots on target.

Interesting to hear what Jose says after that shit show. Terrible tactics and team selection followed by no quality or fight from the players.

Pogba playing so deep to our goal is ridiculous. Lingard was playing as a CM today? In such an important game?
All Sánchez did today was attempt to foot the ball to the back post. I’ve grown tired of him already. Jose really does show bias to certain players. Martial/rashford
Wouldn’t be getting 90mins playing the way Sanchez has been. Bailly,De Gea and Lukaka only players that can leave with any credit tonight. I’m raging!

Not good enough. Lethargic. Lazy. Going through the motions. It was awful. Seville are awful , how did we not put this ordinary team out? I think Jose has had his day, the players have that haunted look the same way that Chelsea did before he got sacked.

Yea, but the point is, you back the manager, you go further in his direction and his desired style of play. If it's the wrong thing to do, you're then lumping his players on the next manager plus the board might be more reluctant to release funds for him, too.

We've made a number of mistakes over the last few years and it has set us back for an equal amount of years in terms of repair. This could be an exacerbation if we opt and get it wrong.
