They were just protesting about not having a major tournament since 1996.

I think it’s fair to say that if English fans get attacked in Russia, it would be more likely due to their bad behavior, and not because they were targeted in particular. I don’t expect many here to agree with me. Most people like to deny the truth.

I feel sorry for the innocent English fans who simply travel to watch and enjoy the game. It hurts to know that they might end up getting caught up in unfortunate events due to no fault of theirs.

Would probably end in serious injuries or even deaths. I really hope this sort of thing stays at the minimum in the WC.
You might as well be from Russia considering your username, so I'm sorry if the following is obvious for you  It probably will be at the minimum. The hooligans and ultras who fight each other in Russia do so in remote areas because it wouldn't go down well with the OMON special forces.

The Russian government has no problem cracking down on any sort of defiance. In the beginning of the 2000's it was a tradition for protesters to travel to wherever the G8 summit was held, riots in Italy, France, England etc. Once the summit happened in Russia, it was zero. Those who tried to go to a protest there were either sent back from the border, locked down before the planned events or beaten and dispersed in minutes. If i remember right, the Russian sports' minister commented on what went down in Marseilles during the EURO's, he said that WC18 will be the safest ever and I wouldn't be surprised if it was, mostly to prove a point, good for propaganda too.

Wow, I was out drinking in the city center yesterday night but didn't see any English fans. Due to a bunch of idiots, regular fans will face trouble in Russia. British tourists in general have a bad reputation in Amsterdam and these fans are the absolute worst.

The Russian hooligans targeted the English in France.

I think you are giving the Russian hooligans too much credit here. They have some 80's macho bullshit going on with facing the English, only problem is that the news about all the real English hooligans being denied travel and the firms being dismembered never reached Russia.

Didn't the Russians target the English in France?

From the videos that were knocking around on Twitter at the time, it looked like the English were up for a scuffle as well, but didn't realise they'd be up against folk who could actually fight. Our fat lager louts were getting KO'd with single blows from guys who looked like MMA fighters.

Nah, wouldn't say so. These silly cnuts can't do any proper damage, the Ivan Drago lookalikes from Russia can do some proper damage though.

I wonder will they change their minds about going to Russia.
Someone mentioned on the radio earlier, that some of this lot probably saw this as their last big chance of a jolly abroad as they won't be going to Russia. They are like a very out of control stag party.

 I know they aren't, Eastern Europe is much worse this days, but its nice to see in England the majority of the media and fans don't like them, while in Russia they are praised as national heroes.

Exactly. Our lot can't take their drink, like most Brits. The Russians are like a very highly organised militiary regiment.

The English abroad eh!? I can't think of a worse set of people for the locals to have to deal with than us. Least when the Irish get pissed they're merry and have a laugh.

Maybe, you’re right but I find this hard to believe. Why would Russian fans travel gob France to deliberately target fans of a different country in particular? Why English fans exactly?

Not exactly. You’re trying too hard a paint an unnecessary narrative. English fans have history with such acts and Russian fans are not far off either. The major difference being that the average Russian hooligan/fan is more thuggish and that reflected in the outcomes of the scuffles.

If it were up to me, both set of fans would never see football games again.

Because the English fans are the ones traditionally famous for hooligans, so the Russians wanted to fight the most notorious.

Because of England's history and association with hooliganism. At least that was the explanation given by the Russian hooligans I saw detailing why they had targeted English fans. Which, as evidence of English fans being targeted by Russian hooligans goes, is pretty damn solid.

English fans behaving like idiots. Nothing new here. Thankfully they'll leave Russia in peace after another 'shocking' early exit by their glorious national side at the WC.

Nothing new here, every travelling English football team has trouble when visiting Amsterdam. The city has an obvious attraction and far more fans travel than is usually the case.

I hate being associated with the English when I ever go abroad (rare) because the idiots ruin it for the rest of us.

Thankfully the Welsh got a very good reputation from Euro 2016.

I'm Serbian but close enough haha. Your probably right that this WC will be the safest in a long time in terms of security and if idiots still try bullshit like that "just for the fun of it" they better hope the Ultras get to them before the Police. I used to be in the Police here in Serbia and remember our guidelines on foreign troublemakers, let's just say we were allowed alot. The communist ways are hard to completely erase from the law enforcing agencies in eastern European countries, biggest reason why I left the force aswell.

The British media need to name and shame each and every one of them, mug shots, place of work (if any), past history, the lot.

Insensitive songs?!
I believe the rest of the 'Ten German bombers' song goes 'And the RAF from England shot them down'. Bit of a weird patriotic song really but it wasn't sung to highlight Amsterdam getting bombed during WWII as the video would seem to suggest.

Fcuk me, look at that bear just left of centre.
Yeah it’s a bit different than drunken middle aged men being wankers, these guys are organised and usually involved in organised crime, like some of the firms in England in the 70-80s. Ross Kemp done an episode where’s he investigated them, it’s worth a watch.
