Duncan Castles said so as well yesterday. Apparently he would be available for around £42m. I wonder how good he is.

Fair to say this is building up some steam. May happen as he can play both right an left back. He has been good for Monaco and rejected arsenal a couple of times.

Liability defensively as per our resident French league viewers. When has Jose played 2 attacking full backs ?

Jose hardly gets the defenders wrong. So if he thinks , this guy can do a job I am all for it.

He would be a very good purchase, he's very good offensively he has 2 goals and 7 assists in Ligue 1 this season.

Isn't he the guy who can also play LB? Could be a good option.

He always looked pretty good whenever I've seen him. I can't remember how he was offensively but I seem to remember thinking "damn he's got some dangly legs"

Castles said €35m (£30.5m) didn't he? Either way, he's a definite upgrade on Darmian and can play both as a left and right back. Very strong offensively, though I do have reservations about his positional sense and technical ability (passing).

Here is his latest. As always excuse the music!

Ok so having watched this compilation I feel I can now pass judgement.

Seems quick and strong and has an eye for a pass, can whip in a good cross. His actual technique and first touch seems a bit iffy though.

With our startegy being always to be misleading papers and journos over our lead targets, i think this might be a smoke screen for someone else. In few days we have been linked to Sandro/Grimaldo/Ghoulam/sidbie/Bellerin/rose/tierney/fabinho/young spanish kid whose name i forget.
Although it is clear we are making various alternatives open.

I can't attest to knowing much of him but links to RB are very welcome when the media has only linked us to LB until this point in time.

Assuming he ends up leaving this summer, along with Lemar and Fabinho.....how many players (starting XI) who reached the UCL semi final would Monaco have sold? Like 7-8? It would basically be Falcao, the GK and a couple of CB’s left.

He's okay. We need a new RB and Monaco are a selling club so if we really want him then it shouldn't be a hard deal to do.

From reading some it seems he had some lapses while marking beginning of the season but he also had an injury. Watching the highlights you can clearly see him being able to tackle. He runs at the opposition with force that made me think of Maicon (not comparing him to Maicon btw - i actually checked out some Maicon highlights as well  Google his goal against Juve ). Apparently he's cut out a lot of defensive errors in the later part of the season and many on that forum rate him as one of their best players this season. Determination is a word i read a lot.

Looks a Jose type of player, if there is such a thing.

I'm happy we're being linked with the right kind of players. Hopefully Woody delivers in the summer.

We have to compromise.
We aren't going to find an attacking fullback that's Maldini defensively.
Fullbacks are needed because the ones we have offer nothing offensively.

Fairly sure Mourinho would be able to improve Sidibé's defensive nous. I'd like to know who these complete, attainable fullbacks are. I'd rather take a fullback who can contribute in attack rather than defense so we become less predictable. Especially if we move to a 4-3-3 so Pogba can have more of an impact in attack.

Picking up steam, I must admit to not knowing much about him. Seems like he's good going forward, which would be an upgrade on Valencia in that respect.

Won the title with Monaco and deservedly reached the semi's of the CL. He might be defensively suspect but that's currently the state of affairs with FB's in general. Offensively though, Sidibe is a very good RB.

As long as we keep having natural width issues, Id rather chase after Bellerin and Walker type fullbacks than defensively sound ones.

Cant imagine we'll go all out Pep and replace 3 of our 4 backline and a LB and CB are far more needed than a RB

A CB is important, but no way is it more of an issue than our RB situation. Valencia's regressing and we only have TFM as a potential option. Besides, with Jose saying we won't be signing any attackers, I wouldn't be surprised if we addressed all three positions as well as signing a CM.

From what I've seen last season, he's properly great attacking wise (not using great lightly) but terrible defensively. Valencia is Maldini compared to him.

Who is the best possible RB we can buy?
Not talking about kids or projects but proper established RBs who are ready to make the step up.
I can't think of many.
Would love Meunier but doubt PSG would sell
Who else?
Cancelo was highly rated l, no idea how he's doing now.
Anyone from the PL?

There is a real lack of quality RBs now.
Even Barca plays with Sergi Roberto at RB so I don't think we can be very picky
Jealous of Bayern though, right after Lahm retired, Kimmich stepped up and is now on his way to become one of the best RBs in the world at 23

Struggling to give a shite if he's suspect defensively.
As long as he's a great attacking FB, I'm in.

Quite like him anytime I have seen him. Bit of a powerhouse physically, and when he drives forward he eats up yards and is pretty solid technically.

I love Meunier. Cancelo is doing well for Inter, they want to buy him (Juve are being linked as well). He crosses the ball every time he gets it.

Seems to be picking up pace, I’d be happy with Sidibe on the right and Alex Sandro on the left with Valencia and Shaw as back up options.

I would be fine with us not signing a centre back in the summer if we got Sidibe and Sandro then brought in a top class playmaker (Kroos, Verratti, Thiago) and a right sided forward (Bale, Mahrez) as I think that’s the most pressing positions.
