Yes,in the neutrals eyes probably a better season than us too.
I couldn't agree more. There are more metrics for judging a good season than whether a team has a pot in May. It's a 10 month season and things like the way the team plays resonates with fans during the week by week slog because you enjoy the football rather than endure it. There's no doubt Liverpool fans have enjoyed watching their side this season. In addition, the CL run to the final gripped their fans. It was nauseating for me and all other opposition fans, but fan experience again doesn't have to be defined by whether there is a trophy to celebrate. You don't lift the trophy. Fan experience for many is the journey you feel a part of win, lose or draw.
If that was United/Jose it wouldnt be acceptable but its Liverpool/Klopp so its a great season.I’ve just read a quote on Sky Sports that has grinded me. Apparently Klopp would not be interested in the Real Madrid job because of the fantastic season he has just had with Liverpool.
Why is there this notion, especially by the media, that Liverpool had a good season? They finished 4th securing Champions League football on the last day of the season. They reached a Champions League final which they lost in the most embarrassing way I have ever seen a team lose a final. A season where they won nothing. How can this be regarded as a good season?
So I ask the Caf have they had a good season?
If United had done that I would say a resounding no!
A lot of people on here say out second place trophyless season was good though, so which is it?If that was United/Jose it wouldnt be acceptable but its Liverpool/Klopp so its a great season.
You could say that about United, Chelsea, Spurs...Relative to their previously shit seasons they have had a good season. You can also see the start of a very good team being formed. If they address key positions then they will probably challenge City for the title.
exceptional? No.They had an exceptional season. Finished top 4 and went all the way to the CL final with a bunch of rejected journeymen in their team.
They are not top European side, though. They haven't been that for ages.Relative to their recent seasons? For sure.
Relative to a top European side? Not a chance.
This is a joke I hope. They had the best season of any English team. Best Manager in the league, best attack in the league, most entertaining English team.

Hit the nail on the head. I mean Salah has had one good season and next minute there’s a documentary about his life on channel 5. I don’t remember as much hype on Ronaldo when we won the Champions League and he won World player of the year!I think the question is more that is having a good season the same thing as claiming they had such a good season, that they are now a preference over Real Madrid, who have just won the European cup for the third year in a row.
I don't know anyone who hasn't developed a dislike for them over the course of this season, and this kind of nonsense is the exact reason why.
Most teams would consider themselves lucky and honoured to be in a CL final when struggling to finish 4th in their league. When it's Liverpool they act like it's akin to winning the treble without losing a game. There's been TV documentaries, outlandish claims, ridiculous hyperbole.
This is all for a team who finished 4th and didn't win anything. Something that at least 4 teams HAVE to do as good or better than as a bare minimum, every single year.
Ah, I get it now! It was a tragi-comedy! Perhaps one of the greatest of all time if they hadn’t let it slip all those years ago.I reckon they done good.
Very entertaining & proper funny at the end.
It's a yes, from me.
Don't think it has anything to do with being foolish. Klopp comes across as someone perfectly suited to Pool where the shite he spouts is lapped up and the expectations are low enough for it not to be a problem for him. He won't get these luxuries at a club like Real where the demand is not just to play good football but to win stuff season on season, something he's absolutely shite at.Ask 100 Liverpool fans about how they rate their season and ask 100 United fans. Compare the two opinions, that will give you a fair idea.
Though, I do see OP's logic in that the season wasnt amazing enough to reject an approach from Real Madrid. I think its even nonsensical to consider that any type of season would be great enough to reject an offer from Real Madrid if you're managing Liverpool, it simply doesn't depend on that. It depends more on the manager, Klopp seems like the manager who develops a bond with the team he's managing and therefore it wouldn't be easy to sway him away from the club, he rejected United's approach even after having an average season with Dortmund (again emphasising it has nothing to do with what type of season you've had).
Many other managers would want to move to Real after having the season Liverpool had, I see Klopp as being foolish enough to reject them though.
Take everything into context and you would agree they have had a good season. They have been in and out of the ucl for the past ten years, mostly out of it. Now they have qualified for it back to back for the first time in a while and also reached the final. That's a lot of progress and a good season for them. For someone like Chelsea or Man city it would be a bad season for them. For us it would be considered average .I’ve just read a quote on Sky Sports that has grinded me. Apparently Klopp would not be interested in the Real Madrid job because of the fantastic season he has just had with Liverpool.

Seems like it's their specialism. atm. But yes, this one does seem totally outranked by 2014 which was much more the actual 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' when he fell over for no apparent reason & which was a far bigger surprise I suppose.Ah, I get it now! It was a tragi-comedy! Perhaps one of the greatest of all time if they hadn’t let it slip all those years ago.
Meh, keep on deluding yourself with that.Don't think it has anything to do with being foolish. It's all about building a story and its why Liverpool win feck all. Football isn't a fairytale and you have to pay your dues.Disagree with most in here.
They lost Coutinho, won nothing and ended the season deflated and in tears.
That kind of thing doesn't always 'build momentum'.
The only real 'success' they had was getting 4th, which they secured on the last day of the season.
How is that a standard Liverpool season if you’re looking at the last 10 Years? No they had a very average season, secured top four and lost a cup final.
Standard Liverpool.
Whether they finished 4th or 10th, making the CL final alone would be a great season. They also have one of the best players in the world and are building on that with new players, so why on earth would Klopp even consider leaving.I’ve just read a quote on Sky Sports that has grinded me. Exactly. Klopp is better suited for underdog mentality. I actually doubt if he can take pressure and that's one reason his finals record is pathetic. Expect nothing, he will manage to give you something. But if you expect something big, he will crumble and disappoint, that's klopp for you.Don't think it has anything to do with being foolish.
