I remember being at the game against WBA in 2005 when we drew 1-1 and he had an absolute worldie. Pretty convinced SAF bought him off the back of that.

I'd completely forgotten about him until we played Yeovil the other night. Their keeper had a somewhat similar sounding name.

He may well have been mentioned earlier in the thread (I haven't read all the way through), but when I occasioanlly think about his time with us it's always with a bit of surprise. I think it's the combination of how unlikely it seemed that he'd end up with us with the fact that the United team he played in seemed sort of transitional and therefore a bit more forgettable. Even weirder was that I didn't mind him too much for those years.

Yeh. Even when at that time I wasn't really into football, the buzz was really huge when Kempes was coming. He was 39 y.o. but was the biggest name that came to play in Indonesia. Maybe a bit like Pele when he was in US.
