We will sell him and his grievances are obvious and have been talked about ad nauseam, read the thread and you will see them being pointed out over and over again.
We'll sell him at his request, nothing like the cases you've listed. He's 22 and getting plenty of game time.

If he's not happy with that its his issue not ours. Whats worse than these soft football players is thode fans who seem to have bought into it. Our club isn't a safe space for footballers feelings ffs its tough. These kids can man up or he coddled elsewhere

Lukaku aside, they're much-of-a-muchness. You could make a case for replacing any one of Martial, Mata, Lingard or Rashford this summer (at least the latter tends to perform in big games).
Even Lukaku, per 90 he has Martial's stats and he is as inconsistent as Martial during games, he is just liked and given the benefit of doubts at the moment.

There seems to be no middle ground in the thread. You are either a Martial fan boi and anti Jose, or a Jose lover. Could it not be that some posters support United and understand that the club will go on without Martial?
I tried to make that point but failed miserably.

Jose will anyway be gone by the end of the year. Just loan Martial out for the year bloody hell. Can't believe we're going to lose this sort of talent for goddamn Mourinho. Detest that man.
Jose won't leave by the end of the year, and while I like Martial, he really should have done more.

Agreed with everything thing you have said our squad is clearly lacking in world class talent and we have made big blunders in transfer market as well but may be I am being naive or just optimistic but I think things would get better hopefully our upgraded scouting structure and better aligned transfer policy should start producing better result and if Martial leaves we should be able to get similar replacement.

Only problem is with Mourinho we may face similar problems next season as well so hopefully we win big prizes this season so it's all worth it at least.
I have very little to zero faith in Mourinho after the way he handled all of this. Winning comes with building reasonably and getting the best of what you already have.

At the start of last season we had one wing covered with Martial/Rashford, instead of solving the RW this summer/or the previous january, we unsettled the only good wing we already had, now we need to pray that Alexis comes back to his old self so we can start from ground zero, and hope the RW reinforcement we hopefully bring this summer will work.

Total fecking shambles if you ask me.

So this must mean we’re seriously in for Bale... I’m seriously worried. Mind you we might end up with Willian...

I am a Jose supporter and embraced him from the start together with his footballing style. But the way he handled this thing leaves a bitter taste, and undermines my support in him, simply because I feel it weakens our team, not because I'm obsessed with Martial.

This. So much. We support the club, not individual players.

The Jose Force Is strong in this one  About one thing is football related. So strong bias.

Let's not add Jose changing his shirt number being a direct representation of changing his position from a striker to a left winger. A role that does not get the best out of him - that probably made him more sulky. Also the fact that the manager himself is one of the most sulky managers available! Jose also has the everyone against us approach and he has slowly trying to push martial to the outside to make him more an enemy than a part of the team.
Struggling to understand why you've made this about Jose when there is literally no mention of Jose in my posts. In fact, your whole post seems to suggest that people should 'choose a side' Jose or Martial, which quite frankly is absurd.

It was actually part of the negotiation with Zlatan that decided he should get Martial's number and nothing to do with Jose, blame marketing.

Don't know why you're mentioning Jose is a sulk?? Has anyone suggested this is the reason Martial is leaving? I don't think so.

Martial has pushed himself outside the inner circle by refusing to stay and fight for his place in the team. If he's been in training anything like he's been when he's played post January, the whole squad will be glad to see the back of him. Martial is no victim in this scenario, as you're trying to suggest. No player is bigger than the club and no player is a guaranteed starter for Manchester United, you'll do well to remember that, and that has nothing to do with Jose Mourinho.

Done more and performed like who? DDG? No one has been up to standard. So maybe it’s not Martial’s fault.

Of course. Just like it's reasonable to think keeping Martial will be better for the club itself, too.

Again very biased - He has been moved from a number 9 striker replaced by Ibrahimovic, now replaced by Lukaku. Heye thats okay the lad will play at LW. Rashford & Martial compete for LW. January Sanchez comes in.

Martial has no future at United - his attitude that you seem to know from seeing his face on TV has absolutely nothing to do with it. Jose does not rate him - actually more likely cant utilise players like Martial (technically heavy players playing in positions where Jose is very reliant on strength, falling back and playing ultra defensive) - Jose can't adapt his tactics to fit Martial because he is reliant on the 4231, the same reason he put other technical players out on the wings & failed.

Jose has question marks over him especially over technical players playing in positions tha tthey are not comfortable with - if you do not think so then there is very strong bias.

A Kid coddled  Literally begging for more players 30+ so we can grind a one off title if that. Sell Martial to tottenham or spurs if he is rubbish I say; he clearly is not good enough

Dunno, but if he had played better, he would have got Lingard's minutes. Lingard is significantly less talented than him and still had a better season.

So maybe, it's not all Jose's fault.

I have no problem letting him go as long as we find another replacement. At the moment he is not top quality, yes is true he may be, but is not like we are talking about some real clear world prospect when he is 22 and didn't even make the France squad and other players from lower teams did it like Fekir and Thauvin.

The truth is he may become good enough or maybe he won't. There’s no clear signal he will make it. Just from France there are better youngsters than him, never mind other countries. I don't know why the moan, if he wants to stay fine if he wants to leave also fine it wouldn't be too hard to find a replacement.

Martial should have done more alright, but then based on the last two seasons I think he's making the best decision for his career, same way I felt when Pogs left. What's the future for for him here? Sanchez is first choice in the only position he plays and he has to compete for 2nd spot with Rashford. All the posts slating him are very similar to the one's about Pogba when he left. Poor mentality, not that good anyway, should 'fight' for his place, should wait for his chance etc which all turned out to be nonesense. Personally I don't think Martial will be the world beater most of his fans think he'll be, but I'm 100% certain he's a much better player than what he's shown here and will look better wherever he goes next

His appalling form for France at Euro 2016, losing his shirt number at United and his domestic problems with his wife seem to have conspired to send him in to a tailspin of sulkiness from which he's never recovered.

Despite his obvious talent, I'm not sure he has the attitude/mentality to make it as a top player.
He got a new gf at the start of this year though, and they're now expecting a baby. I think he'll start to become more settled again now and be able to focus again on his football, in turn his professionalism and mentality should only improve from here on.

I remember @MThomas catching a lot of flaks in the Martial performance thread for being adamant that he’d be gone by the end of the season, when Martial was scoring regularly off the bench.

Funny how it all turned out. We better hope Mourinho knows what he’s doing because another similar season with an aging Sánchez and possibly Bale/Willian in the team and our future would look very bleak.

Just sell him abroad.

Don't sell him to another top 4 PL team, it'd be a really daft move.
We won't sell him within the PL unless it's £70m+. I'd actually be surprised if we sold him at all this summer.

Everyone know's he won't sign a new contract, he'll be available at a knocked down price next year with only 1 year left on his contract and he's only 22. Hardly a rush to get in and get him now.

Nah, he played better than any other left winger and didn't took minutes from them. The issue is probably more tactical and regards his profile, Lingard is used as an advanced midfielder and when Sanchez has been used in that spot he was also dropping relatively deep when out of possession. Martial is just not part of the preferred tactical set up.

You have to ask yourself, why is Lukaku liked more than Martial. It isn't because of their 'per 90' stats, it's because of their respective attitudes.

This is typical agent mischief making in a bid to snag a pay rise. The lack of playing time claim is laughable. Martial in the league alone played more times than even Pogba.
Pogba was injured for over a month and still has 600 minutes more played in the league. You talk about playing time in the sentence before, then go into appearances in the next. There's a difference between the two.

It's because of their respective style, remember that Mourinho called Martial "a different type of striker", it kind of tells you everything you need to know. That was during his first press conference iirc.

What a mess. We're hardly overflowing with attacking quality yet we're losing one of our brightest talents. Can't help thinking we've botched this one.

This is very true mate. Im not trying to hide - the people who see no future for martial here have been fed little spoons of negativity from Jose from the start- from changing his shirt number from striker to a winger. has had maybe one game as a striker in 2 seasons ( is that a coincidence? if you say it is or that winger is his best position - id say that is strong bias) , replaced by 2 strikers : ibrahimovic who was merely promised as a short term option to both Rashford and martial then low and behold - replaced by a younger target man ( same tactics? Bias if unable to see he has not changed tactics to accomadate the players at his disposal).

Then! Rashford & Martial compere for the same position - A fight he can win on the pitch but is put in direct competition against one of our own born and bred players  - bit coincidental

Then! Martial starts overshadowing Rashford in the LW - Jose adds another LW ( who has the ability to play at RW :nervous:) - doesn't play him on the right and puts him in to straight drop martial to the bench! Brings him back to the RW (instead of Sanchez ) and fails miserably; which is a surprise (not really).

So now Martial is put in at a game he cant win - ranking 3rd at ST, and 2nd/3rd at LW.

How can you possibly be so biased to think there is not been manipulaltion by our manager? Some people will gladly take the Jose biscuit - others are not so fooled by his sadistic game. That is why anyone who is against martial & his ability to be a good player for United (not world class) is a Jose fan boy and will fight any battle for him.

Selling Martial will mean we'll dip into the market for another attacking player. If we sign Bale based on selling him this thread will disappear into obscurity.

My two pence worth in this is....
Would be a shame to let a hugely talented player leave but I have low tolerance for players who don’t show the hunger I expect from our players. We have let better players go than martial and replaced them so I’m confident we can do the same here. Especially if we get a top RW in that we desperately need. I don’t think Martial has shown enough to be getting too worked up over if he leaves. He doesn’t look arsed half the time to me. Just don’t see him to a PL rival and get a RW in to balance the team out. We haven’t played as a ‘team’ for a long time and that’s cause we’re so unbalanced playing players out of position.

Can see it from both sides, Martial looked alot better player under LVG and must look at city and see what a difference Pep has made to Sane and Sterling because he has faith in them and gives them confidence, Jose constantly calling him out, still think him and Rashford were doing fine pushing each other for the LW spot the 1st half of last season then to get dropped for Sanchez would be a pisser to both them. then Sanchez does as bad as both them in the 2nd half of the season despite getting played in his favourite position.

From Jose point of view he will always say he should try harder and his attitude aint right so if thats what he thinks he's as well leaving.

What a bizzare rant full of stuff i never said.

He started 18 PL games then all the games he came on as subs. Thats plenty of game time for a lad of his age.

Besides the fact they've been negotiating for 8 months tells you he's either looking for big money or some kind of guarantee. I'm sure you think we should be giving those to him?

Its not difficult to see why Martial wants to leave. He has to leave. He was player of the month for us, was in a rich vein of form and cemented that left side attack position. Then January hits and Mourinho decides to buy Sanchez. Martial gets moved to the right sided forward position of the 3, Sanchez took his place on the left. He had one average/semi-bad game in the league which i think we lost. Next game, he is benched, the whole front line was accomodated for Sanchez and Martial is the player who sits on the bench. He will not get any proper game time at our club. Simple as that. He has way too much talent to be wasted on the bench. He should leave, and most people in Marital's shoes would do the same. He will never get in the team ahead of Sanchez or Lukaku.

He could very well be a world beater at another team and has the potential to be one. But Sanchez pretty much signed his fate at United. Mourinho will always have to play Rashford ahead of Martial for game time too as it is the 'United way' so he is 4th striker at the moment.

Martial can be sold. We have to bring in a right sided player to replace him i.e. Willian or someone of that nature. Rashford will still be on the bench but can be the striker on the bench to replace either one of the forward sided 3. Having Rashford and Martial on the bench is too much and one of them needs to go. That will always be Martial.

In short. Signing Sanchez sealed Martial's fate at Manchester United and must have felt like a kick in the teeth. We did not need Sanchez. Created imbalance in the team and we now have 3 players for one position. Pointless signing and losing one of our young stars because of it.

Exactly - give Jose 100 seasons with Messi - not once would he have used him as a false number 9, as a straight CF.

He would have only used him as the winger who cuts in and is asked to cross to a target man. That is the only type of striker he can use - the only type of formation he can play.

Milito, Costa, Lukaklu, Drogba, Benni Mcarthy, Benzema, Higuain (who was vice captain) and so many more. Jose is incapable to be flexible with his tactics and his type of player - martial was out from the day Jose got his job.

Best scenario would be Martial goes to Dortmund or Athletico, we input a buy back clause or a % on the next fee (20-25%), or else we try and get pulisic from bvb or someone from athletico

He was certainly better than Sanchez and on a level with Lingard and Rashford for sure across minutes played - people seem to forget they all had stinkers and often, also like Rashford he is still a young player.
I don't think he believes he is Messi or Ronaldo and neither do the fan boys. I would just like this to not drag on through the summer, hopefully we grant him his wish and sell him asap for decent money and continue our recruitment.

No doubt an offer of 12m pounds in three yearly installments is on the way from Juventus and Spurs.
I can't disagree too much. I'm not a huge fan of his, but neither do I particularly yearn for his transfer away. If, rather than Martial, it was Mata or Lingard who had made public their desire to leave, I wouldn't be massively opposed to their departure either. I'm not sure any of them are really indispensable.

Most people given the opportunity to play for one of the biggest teams in the world and possibly the biggest non French team in France, would work their bollocks off to improve and put Sanchez out of the team, or heaven forbid, learn to play in a new position over the summer and become more versatile.
