The guys you mentioned were equally good on both flanks?
Never said they were, was stating that they're adaptable enough to play both wings where necessary and do a job. If Martial played RW he'd still cut inside... and put the ball out of play on the touch line...

Instead of going through all these players and stating that your wrong. Simply put they all have a set side and don’t move from their set position to perform at the same level on the opposite side. Neymar plays LW and would not come to United to play on the RW to good effect. It’s not his position. Robben the same in reverse.. so with that being said why do you expect Martial to switch to the opposite side of the field and perform the same as on the left. It’s not his position.
No, but they can play the other wing if necessary. He's been poor on the left so he might as well be poor on the right.

He's not a RW though, he's a LW

We;'ve played far too many players out of position on the RW for season after season..........
does he want to play or sulk on the bench? lukaku and sanchez are 98% guaranteed starters. He's 22, he is still young enough to learn and adapt to the position.

Do name the top wingers over the year who were equally good on either flank.
di maria, mane, douglas costa, messi, sterling, pedro

doesn't matter martial isn't a top player yet, his priority should be playing time. He's not getting any on the left, might as well adapt and learn to play on the right. It will him a much better player in the long run.

Ryan Giggs could play right wing if necessary. It’s a silly point and your comment about cutting in and hitting the corner flag says it all.

If I might add a comment on your question, I’d say we need crossing abilities at both wings. Our main striker is quite good at headers (shock alert), and he is not getting enough good crosses imo. With this argument in my mind, I’d lime winger that delivers crosses, and hopefully end product, but primarily crosses.

Among crossing RWs there’s Gelson, who is quoted to be on his way to the Emirates, on a free, but there’s a chance we could hijack that transfer. Others worth a shout is said to be heading to West Ham, Felipe Anderson. Another option is Willian. Not the sexiest options, but I really do think we’d be a whole lot better, and extremely dangerous from the right. This again would make our attack more dynamic and the opposition would struggle if our wingers poised a real threat from the line.

Summing up my argument with regards to Bale, his crossing would be somewhat easy to anticipate like Young’s crosses (which haven’t bore many assist).

Naturally, at RW Bale would drift inwards, and switch with the LW at times, but my question would be: is that the kind of player our squad need post Alexis? I guess it’s quite obvious from this post that I was all for Perisic last year, but now I feel the left is filled, so now I would look for a similar option at right, and at the same time stopping Rom from playing RW like he did this spring.
We do need to play to Lukaku’s strengths I agree but personally I would rather that be addressed with better full backs who can cross, in the modern game I like inverted wingers. But Guedes at Valencia I reckon could fill that RW good crosser role and of course Willian.

If I'm being honest with myself I really wouldn't mind if we sign Bale, even with the injury concerns.

Giggs reverted to CM later in his career, again, shows adaptability and a willingness to play for the team where necessary. My other comment was obviously a joke, if I'd of realised a joke at Martial's expense would have offended you so much, I would have refrained. Appears that talking about Martial these days strips people of their sense of humour.

Because he no longer was a pacy winger. What did you want him to do become our current Juan Mata. The transition allowed him to play until he was 41.

I didn't want him to do anything. I'll go back to my previous point and leave it at that. 'There is no reason why Martial wouldn't do a job on the RW, if he really wanted to develop and get more game time for Manchester United, there is a position begging for someone to make their own and now our main targets don't look as though they're leaving their respective teams'.

.
By that logic we might as well give Rojo a blast RW n all. He can learn the position too.

Forcing someone to play out of position isn't beneficial to player nor team.

Realistically, there is no reason he couldn't do exactly what he's doing on the LW but on the RW instead. Any forward worth their salt is adaptable enough to do damage across the front line.
In theory, possibly. But in the games he has played there he wasn't good. Martial is better off the left, period.

Plus I doubt Jose will give him a run of games if there is noise he is unhappy, Jose will let him have bench time for sure

Sanchez would be better equipped, but Jose didn't seem willing to try.

We've been without a competent RW for years, playing more players out of position there doesn't make sense to me (although admit with no credible links for a RW for us to sign and no links for out-goings (martial/mata) then it may remain this way)

It's crazy a team of our stature has let the right side of the field be neglected for so long.
We haven't had anything productive off the right in a long time.

Pogba is a poor signing?
He"s still the only player we have that can carry the ball through the middle.
Even then it's only one player, hardly a trend we should be avoiding
and if you watch a season highlights video pogba is involved in so many goals. more than you might think.

Quick question: Why not both? I quite carefully selected my preferred option due to their relative good strength with their weaker foot, which would allow them both to cut in and to find Rom with a good cross.

I reckon Guedes could fill that profile, and maybe there is some gold in the world cup waiting to be dug?

If were were to hypothetically imagine that the new RM manager promises bail a permanent starting position and plenty of cuddles, who would be frozen out and would that player be happy to sit on the bench or would they be worth a punt?

I know it would depend where Bale would feature and the player effected.

TBH, I love to see Mbappe come to OT instead of Bale if we pay this amount of money

If only Luke Shaw would pull his finger out of his arse, we could save millions. So much talent, yet such a disappointment.

I'd really like Bale at United.
It is extremely frustrating, but it is very rare for a player to fail for 4 years and then come good.
Unfortunately, he has accepted that he is a bench/squad player and seems content in that minor role. He isn't even asking to be transfer listed, like Memphis did or even Martial seems to be doing now.

Mbappe would do me, fine.
The issue though is Jose and his obsession with using experienced players, over young players.
If Martial was 28 years old, I'm pretty sure he'd get more game time. Jose simply does not trust youngsters and prefers players who are in their absolute prime.

Agreed, I think Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot, Rashford, Lingard, McTominay etc really hammer your point home.

Huh? How does that answer the point I was making?
Sorry boss. I just woke up when reading your post.

Yeh, definitely agreed with your assessment. Robben and Sneijder were the obvious example of Madrid reject that turned into the very best players.

Most of my reservation with Bale is about his desire and hunger to play for United. I don't like this feeling of United "begging" any player who prefer to play elsewhere.

And none of them are first XI material in his eyes. Whatnot with the purchase of Sanchez (to sideline Martial and Rashford), and interest in Alderweild (?) (he didn't trust Bailly and Lindelof enough for FA Cup Final), Willian/Bale (bye bye Lingard), and possibly Mandzukic. Then you see his appetite for Young (play 50 games next season), and Fellaini.

Mou bought a 19 y/o Dalot, knowing he won't be ready for at least another season or so; thus Mou can play Valencia in his best XI.

I would love that once we react when players( and their agents) using us for new contract or playing time
He does not want to leave. Same story was with ronaldo, muller, fabregas, ramos, varane, vidal. I would love that club makes a statement; we don't want that player.

It really is not true that he doesn't consider any of those players first XI material - he picked Mctominay over Herrera and Fellaini multiple times. Lingard became a first XI player under Jose. Rashford played 50+ games this season. Bailly was injured most of the season and Lindelof certainly didn't merit a place in the finals. Fellaini barely played this season. Lukaku is young at 24 but you didn't see Jose sacrificing him for Zlatan.

And going back to Lingard... Jose picked him over Mata numerous times so if it was about age, that argument doesn't hold.

There is a validity behind his search for more maturity in the squad. Martial as a winger didn't come through. Luke Shaw as a LB still hasn't proven himself. We have players with potential in these areas but we do need some experience and players who have grit which comes with age.

McTominay sparingly. Can’t remember him playing 4 games in a row like a Winks. Lukaku is an experienced forward; Lingard is 25. Lindelöf didn’t merit a place because he never plays, why?

There is a need for experience but we are hardly talking about 19-20 year olds. Play them week in week out they will get experience.

Of course we need players like Gareth Bale. A world class player who can decide a game. We have one world class player at the club currently and he is in goal. We are seriously lacking in cutting edge particularly from the right side. This guy would improve us ten fold

Absolutely!
