So many people underestimating Nigeria. If we go back to what works for us we can get 4 points from the next two games.

We aren't that terrible and from what I saw from Argentina we can beat them again, this time while they have Messi on the pitch.

So a guaranteed 1st place for us.
If Nigeria smash Argentina and you lose would Nigeria go through in first, not sure if its head to head of goal difference? For example 3-0 Nigeria and 3-0 Iceland. Unlikely I know.

Edit: Just checked its GD not head to head so you aren't guaranteed just 99% certain.

We have a GD of 5:0, Nigeria 2:2. Hugely unlikely.

Yup but another Argentina implosion while unlikely could see them ship 3 or so, the unlikely thing is Iceland beating you 3-0. 2-0 Iceland and 4-0 Nigeria is possible (again dependent on Argentina, will they have a manager, will they turn up. Will the players who Sampaoli implied are useless be arsed to play for him.) I'd say its 99% likely you're topping the group and you've looked one of the best teams so far but the 1% will keep you honest.

You must be delighted buddy, that was an excellent 2nd half. Proper good football too which we haven't seen from alot of teams so far.
Honesty I can see you guys beating Argentina. You can go through with a point too.
Yes. Just think we need to avoid defeat. A big ask if the Argies turn up but hopefully we can do it.

Given whats happening in their camp we might be lucky to see them literally turn up nevermind play to their best.

We can do it! If we play and dont show too much respect like we did vs Croatia

Can’t see Argentina beating Nigeria. They’re one of the worst teams in the tournament.

I’d like to see Nigeria go through also :D

Thought Nigeria would do well today, thought it would be a good match up for them v Iceland with their pace and power. Only saw the second half but Iceland really struggled with the counter attacks.

You'd assume then with their pace they'd be a terrible opponent for Argentina but I'm not so sure. Croatia could more than match Argentina technically in midfield, with the greatest of respect I can't see Mikel and Ndidi doing that.

Think today's result was Argentina's get out of jail card and I think they'll scrape into second.

So, if Argentia beats Nigera by one goal and Iceland beats Croatia by one goal, then Iceland will go through?

Back in Argentina's hands. I know they need to better Iceland's win, but still possible.

Messi needs to step up. He's given another opportunity. Don't choke again. He has the ability to carry the shit team that is Argentina.

Yup. Iceland looked physically wrecked today second half, dunno if they used too much energy in their first game, are just fatigued, or the heat got to them. Was a bad day at the office.

Iceland melted under the pressure.
Now Nigeria-Argentina will be a great match.
Just a shame Wales couldn't make it though as they would have been a more interesting entry than boring, boring Iceland.

Argentina should still go through. Unless Croatia pull a dick move and play their second XI vs Iceland (please)

But assuming Argentina go through, they'll have France in the first KO round.

I have sympathy for Iceland but I don't want them to progress further as they make every match shit.

I think it's more the heat than the general fitness apart from Aron who's just not fit. Summers here don't reach 20°C much.

Nigeria are probably also generally more fit overall which is also in their favor in this heat. The weather has always been a part of the World Cup. Nothing to do about that (except not pick Qatar as hosts).

Nigeria or Argentina to finish second, please. France vs Iceland would be a snorefest.

I thought you guys usually look fit and hard working, was a strange second half. You are though a big team of big men so games coming thick and fast might be too much. You're not out by any stretch, though I'll admit I'd rather see Nigeria go through because they are more entertaining (well they were for 45 minutes after 145 poor minutes).

Aron moved like a quarterback in his pocket. He didn't get around much and to start him was probably a mistake but maybe having to change 3 midfielders between games was a bit too much.

We also needed that 3rd sub that was wasted on that head injury. 3 player injuries in 3 games is not good for this squad. At the Euros there was no such changes between matches. We needed more luck this tournament but you can ask to be lucky in a tournament like this. There's still one more game and a you can't qualify unless you win a match (unless you're Portugal then you win the Euros)
