Actually completely forgot about the Kane chance first half, massive moment. Up there with the Gazza miss in euro 96.

Croatia wouldn't have come back from 2-0 down imo.
The pundits in the studio were talking about how we'd have maybe scored another goal or 2.
The way that game panned out, it's very easy to forget we were on top, and very comfy in that first half.

That Kane miss is career regrets type stuff.

Turkish refs are the worst. How do they keep getting picked for these big games?

Anyways, not blaming the ref as England had the game in the bag at half time, but then came out strolling and carrying passengers in midfield (Alli & Lingard) which then allowed Croatia back into it.

Dejan Lovren is about to start a World Cup final.
He has actually been very good. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he finds himself in team of the tournament. I mean, two out of him, Varane, Umtiti and Maguire will be there. Varane most likely, and then for variability the next position might go to him.

Back row. Singing.
I never felt we were ever in control of the game, even in the first half Croatia looked dangerous in possession and they altered their attack in the second half which helped them. No complaints, best team won.

My advice to France, finish them off in the first half. There's something about that Croatian team as a game drags on.

 come on. People can feel bad for the individual united players but they arent playing for United right now, and this has nothing to do with United. If you do want to look at it that way, theres only 2 united players playing regularly while there are more players from our rivals in the squad.
I'm not saying support England at all; but actively rooting against them leaves a sour taste.

Don't really care what the stats say.

England dominated for large periods of the game and should have had it sewn up before the half-time whistle went. The second half was fairly even before Croatia equalized, after which they went on to control the game and ultimately win it in the end. They deserve credit for that.

But so do the England lads. Can't remember the last time I was this proud of my national team.
Dominated :lol::lol::lol:

They had 22 shots to 11 for England, 7 on target to 2 for England, more possession and twice as many corners. England didn't have a shot on target since that Kane chance in the first half, that is for nearly 90 min. You were bang average after that chance.

Vida is my MOTM. He won everything.

Sterling gives way more than Rashford so I'm not sure why he was taken off. I just don't think Southgate knew how to beat the Croats. He just tried to blag his way to a WC Final.

Gutted absolutely gutted.
Croatia deserved that though they were better on the night. If we could have converted those 1st half chances then who knows.
Credit to the boys though for at least getting us back on board with them this tournament.

As an aside, any non-Croatian posters on here actively celebrating this result and enjoying this result; you are definatly not United fans even if you think you are.
ImI not celebrating this result but the relationship between England and United fans suffered significant damage after our players were scapegoated after previous tournaments. One run into the latter stages of a world cup isn't going to fix that.

The signs were always there throughout various games vs Belgium and Colombia prior that when pressed, the back three and Henderson could not retain the ball in any meaningful manner. Revisionism is interesting because it makes more of our accomplishments than is perhaps deserved, at least, on a playing level. Mentally and physically, we were outstanding at various intervals, yet, at the same time we always showed that vulnerability on the ball that is common of the English national team. Being hemmed in by Croatia, and even Colombia pushed and kept us deep with arguably inferior individuals. We must not overlook this. Yes, we won, but nothing about the way we played with the ball was particularly convincing. Grit, determination has always been our narrative, and once again, it will be the narrative that rules once more. English grit to the semi-final, but the same technical deficiencies remain.

Am so glad this whole "it's coming home" nonsense is over. Not put in one performance whole tournament worthy of mention and people were acting like England had already won the cup.
As far as today's match goes, Croatia totally deserved to win. Yes Kane could have put England up 2-0 but he didn't and once England conceeded, there was going to be only one winner..

What about the SNP? All the anti-English comments from the Scottish? Sort out your own nationalism before you talk about England.

We needed to score another goal when we were on top in the first half. Congrats to Croatia who came back to win. Good luck in the final @Ban @Jim Beam @Andycoleno9 (I think you're all Croatian) :D
Thank you. As a member of this forum and england fan in general i will not quote many of you who said that we are shit after first half and don't deserve to be in semis. Our second half was joy to watch.

oh and Mandzukic is a cnut. that cramp sorted itself quick enough.

Played well but again from open play we simply werent clinical enough. we look grand from set pieces but at 1-0 Kane needed to score that chance.
That was a blatant foul, and on another day could've easily been a pen.

He did milk it though, as you'd expect from someone of Atletico and Juve pedigree

England had almost equal possession in the first half, but don't let statistics fool. Statistics don't account for types of possession. Most of our possession was in circulating the ball in our own half amongst the back three and wingbacks. Most of theirs was circulating the ball along their midfield in our half. The numbers show equal but the type of possession doesn't.

Think its more people supporting the other team more then actively rooting against them. Though there are always people that do that too, but still dont see what it has to do with United. Im not one of those but England has always been that country that people like to laugh at when it comes to football while they'll still support clubs in the country. You just have to completely separate club football and national football in your head pretty much.

People can root against whatever team/country when it comes to football though. I mean rooting against is near as much fun as rooting for a team?

What is wrong with these people who want to force other people to like their team? It is hilarious.

Croatia? They were very good. I'm sure even the most blinkered will agree.

Shame, gave Croatia the ball and then shit ourselves. Bad tactic. Thought Stones was weak spot, rather than Henderson. As the game went on his decision making became worse. Young was poor today, Rashford did nothing when he came on. Do not understand playing Alli and Lingard and not attacking. Got walked over in midfield.
Some blame has got to go on the manager to be honest you can't play the same formation/tactics against every team. Then when it clearly failing, wait so long to try and change it.

I was just picking names really but they all played bad to be honest Kane, Henderson and Maguire may aswell have been invisible Dele, Young and Lingard looked shattered Kyle Walker just his usual useless self.

I would say Pickford is the only guy who walks out of that game with his head held high.
