Long term plan? I doubt there is one. Probably a loan.
I suppose with Jorginho and Kante both being quite young for CMs he probably doesn't have a future at Chelsea, wouldn't shock me to see him sold next summer.

Jorginho said: ‘I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy. I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.’
He's happy, happy new year.:)

If we sign another midfielder (Golovin?) I could see Bakayoko being loaned somewhere. I think I recall seeing a story a while ago that Monaco would happily have him back so perhaps that's an option.

Otherwise, I don't see why he couldn't be used in certain matches alongside Kante & Jorginho.

Very unfortunate. He was one of the players I really wanted. At least he didn't join City I suppose.

Nah, no chance. He's the least likely player to kick up a stink I can imagine. Unless they offer ridiculous money (which clubs never do for non-flashy players) he's going nowhere.
Do you reckon not being in the CL will affect you in any way?

Seems a pretty different type of player but then again, I don't know much about Jorginho.
My understanding was that Jorginho was a Carrick type of midfielder, not a spoiler like Fernandinho.
You're not wrong but it's akin to us replacing Keane with Carrick – obviously not in terms of quality because mentioning Fernandinho in the same breath as Keane would be absurd but they were two entirely different players tasked with covering a similar area of the pitch.

Courtois and Hazard might use it as an excuse to push a move to Real Madrid but other than that, not really (in the short term).

Sure, I appreciate you don't have to replace like with like but for this particular Man City side, I think they need a "water carrier" otherwise the likes of De Bruyne would have to change their game to compensate.

Kante is a guy who not long ago was in the lower leagues in France and then Leicester. Potentially one season out of the CL surely won't bother him that much. Not like he's lacking in silverware or a 30+ year old searching for one last big move.

Sounds like Chelsea are making some good moves with Sarri and now Jorginho. Seriously potent midfield with him and Kante. And there was me considering them done and dusted a couple of months ago. Be interesting to see if Sarri can fire up Morata.

They'll most likely just buy Higuain because im sure Sarri knows that Morata just isnt good enough rather then needing to be fired up or whatever.

Hazard higuain Willian
Jorginho Kante ???

Has the makings of a very good side tbf. Probably Fabregas in mid I would guese? Their defence isnt really suited to a back 4 though and I can see them taking a while to get used to Sarri. Jorginho and Kante in midfield is potentially a world class partnership, just need a 10 in front of them.

I read earlier that they are trying to include Morata in a deal for Higuain.

Great signing for Sarri's system. Will be interesting to see how we setup in midfield. Wondering who will play with Kante and Jorginho who will surely start most games, so many options Baka, RLC, Fabregas, Luiz, Drinkwater etc.

Are City capable of not buying a player without throwing their toys and insinuating there was something terrible about the transfer?

Just dont get it some posters here. Instead of laughing other clubs transfer, we should concern more to our transfer.

Liverpool get Saqiri, City get Mahrez, Chelsea get Jorginho. All 3s all quality or at least EPL proven. And others will come for sure.

Us ? Our beloved United currently only get 2 unknown players from minnow league. And know the rumour that we are interesting in one of slowest CB in EPL, Maguire for fecking 50 million pound ? Mahrez worth 50 not Maguire.

Are we already satisfy with what we have ? 2 forever-potential-world class young players, Martial and Rashford, aging Sanchez and Matic, Spoilt Pogba, the calamity trio of Rojo-Smalling-Jones, the snail Lindelof ?

Maybe Jose already wants to leave, instead strengthening team with quality he just did "formality purchase". If that happens, we will be next old Liverpool.

Just my 2 cents. I am not pessimistic person, but currently i see nothing serious in our current transfer.

Well, I hope they don’t succeed, as getting Higuain would suddenly make them look really dangerous. Fabregas as the advanced midfielder, I guess.

The line up Bosnian posted looks as good as anything the rest of us can provide.

Funny how when we said we were signing Fred all of a sudden city fans said it was because they were going for Jorginho who was the better player.

Now Jorginho has gone to Chelsea what’s their excuse going to be this time.

2 snubs in such a short time has got to hurt Pep.

Some United fans are also confused. They were complaining how we got City's second choice in Fred and it was a sign of us falling behind. It was further proof that style is everything holy in football and anyone who cares about football would choose City of United.

It turns out that no one gives a feck about entertaining fans, and the first thing on their mind is getting what they are worth. Because surprise surprise this is a job to them. The list of people that choose money over Pep is growing and will be endless.

Just shows that regarding signings anything can happen. Ever since late april everyone was 100% sure he was city bound, then boom in less than 1 week he signs for Chelsea. Very good signing for them. If Hazard stays and they get another couple decent players in then I honestly think they will do good especially with Sarri there now, but then again you never know, they might end up being shite.

How so? This chap as the deep lying playmaker and Kante all over the place to win the ball back seems a good combo to me.
So many people seem to think Kante is a 6 when he clearly isnt. He wins the ball back quickly and prevents it from reaching the danger area. A 6 is the one in the danger area and has to cover defenders either by going 2v1 vs an attacker or filling the space they leave. A 6 sometimes also has the responsibility of building the play like Jorginho.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I love how salty City get when they don’t get their targets and how transparent the faux outrage is from their favoured journalists (who are totally independent and not at all influenced by lavish treatment they receive at the Etihad).
Its such a strange way to spin things.
Sanchez was crucified for going back on a supposed agreement from his failed summer move to City as if the circumstances didn't drastically change when he didn't move at that time.
Its so naive that is has to be PR.

I'm not sure that answers my question. You don't think they'd compliment each other?

They would actually be great for each other. Kante does not have it in him to remain in the red zone in front of the centre backs. He has to be active and chase the ball. Kante has always been at his best next to a 6. He was with Drinkwater, then Matic and now will be with Jorginho.

It's quite annoying yet predictable. Chelsea seem to have some really good footballing brains at the top. Whether thats Roman or someone else I don't know, but they always identify the problem even if it is sometimes self inflicted.

There is nothing interesting I deliberately chose his weakest stats (I didn't even post the 50 interceptions)
Just like Fred with us, underwhelming player IMHO
1 tackle every 43 minutes. 1 interception every 53 minutes. Fair to say Kante will be doing that part, and that Jorginho might've been found lacking as DM in a trio with KDB and Silva. Happy either way. Let's hope Fernandinho is a wreck after the World Cup, could be their Achilles heel in the PL this season. They'd have to rely on Delph since Gundogan can't play as lone defensive midfielder.
