Ah thanks for clearing that up, I'm still unsure about the potential transfer of Willian. I would much prefer an alternative option like Pulsic for example if he was indeed available.
Yeah no worries. Pulisic would make much more sense financially. Willian is currently a much better player though.

Pack it up lads. We are buying Maguire and that's it. RW is consigned to another season of continual rotation between Lingard/Mata etc etc.

Wouldn't bet against seeing Pereira get some game time there as well.

Are people saying the pic is fake based on that other Pogba pic? Yeah, that’s some terrible detective work

If our official twitter posted something a couple thousand fans would be able to confirm.

Unless I see him playing the piano then it's not happening...

Willian hasn't shown up for training.

Willian has failed to report back for pre-season training at Chelsea following a £65 million bid from Real Madrid. The Brazil international was due to return to Chelsea last Friday after an extended holiday following the World Cup, but has yet to appear at training.

Willian is understood to have contacted Chelsea explaining that his absence is due to an issue with his passport, although not everyone at Stamford Bridge is convinced by the excuse, which echoes the Diego Costa saga 12 months ago.

Hmm. If we’re not involved, it is looking Pulisic or bust for that right flank and there is nothing linking us there really anyway.

I’m not even going down the rabbit hole of Willian’s preferred right flank being Bale’s domain...

9/1 on Willian to Madrid

It's definitely going to be Willian or no one. I can't see Mourinho signing Pulisic, Dembele or any young winger.

If we get Willian, I think he could be slightly better as a CAM than RW.

@Affirmation That picture has a small possibility to be a club Photoshop. They also did a photoshop of Fred using one of our players for his youtube video. It is certainly a professional enough edit for it.

Willian to United makes too much sense at this stage of the transfer window. We know for a fact that Jose wants him. Also, he will be able to hit the ground running since he already knows Jose's system. This will be a Matic-style signing which would shore up our most glaring weakness at the RW. I predict this will be done but at a rather ridiculous price. Probably 70 million quid.

ESPN reports that Willian returned late to Chelsea because of a passport issue and is not Sarri.

Jeez, even in an insomnia driven strop that's terrible, but I laughed. Laughed that all summer we have wanted exotica now id be happy to pay 142m(plus add ons of course) for Willian (with an N guys).

Willian didn’t turn up for training. Sarri not happy.

Maybe it’s Barca still perusing him but it also could be us.

Why would Barca pursue him after getting Malcom for 40M.

It is either us, or us.. Because the other teams shopping for wingers are teams like AS Roma who are a step down for him.

I wish we would swing for the fences for guys like Leon Bailey instead of getting yet another good player entering his declining years (Mata, Ibra, Sanchez etc..)

I've just got this feeling we will end up with Willian but very late in the window and with us paying a ridiculous fee of circa £60m. Chelsea rejected Barcelona's 3rd bid of £55m before they moved onto Malcom. Considering they rejected that bid and with us being a direct domestic rival, it won't be surprising if they want at least £65m from us, which could end up easily being £70m because it's so late in the window and United will just panic buy! :houllier:

Willian is not my first choice RW option, I would rather sign players like Perisic who I assume would cost around the same, or even Pulisic, Bailey or Dembele, who at this moment in time are not as good as Willian but are far from the finished article and players with immense potential. You could also argue we need the finished article right now and not a player who is still young and may never reach their full potential, so Willian would then make more sense.

I would take Willian because by the looks of it, everything seems a mess in terms of our transfer activities and I would rather sign Willian than go ANOTHER season without a RW! Willian is a clear and obvious upgrade to the options we have right now at RW. He will definitely improve us and give us more balance, he is a natural RW, whereas Lingard, Mata, Rashford etc are not. His work rate is exceptional, knows Mourinho's style and Mourinho knows what he will bring just like Matic. Premier League proven, in his prime and I think he would give us at least 2-3 years of quality service. Pacey and direct winger who can beat his man unlike most of our options on the right. He also has a wicked free-kick in him too

We didn't get Mata when he was on a decline.

I don't like Willian's character. Maybe his passport has problems, and maybe it doesn't. Maybe he just wants out of Chelsea. Either way, that social media tweet he posted after the FA Cup Final blotting out Conte's face with an emoticon tells me everything I need to know about the maturity and character of the man. I don't want to see any player at United, talented or not, who does petulant things like that and has no remorse for it.

I can see Willian moving to United. Martial moving out and Chelsea buying Zaha.

Bale is injured. So there is only one option (based on this thread title) now.

Not sure what your stats actually prove, but I think the poster was talking about declining players because of their age, could be wrong though.

He posted that Mata wasn't on the decline when you signed him.

In hindsight he may have been right. Mata only seems to have declined since joining Utd.

Yep we have to sign someone for the right, if we don't i don't have much optimism for the season ahead.

Haha fair enough!

I don’t think Mata was in decline when we signed him personally. He had just won your player of the year two years in a row and was at a good age.

He has been used slightly differently at United, and his overall goal scoring has been decent, but not as good as it was at Chelsea.

He’s a good squad player for us now and I’m happy to have him around.

The fans were more sorry to see Mata leave than Matic. Mata was always a favourite whereas Matic had a stinker the year before he left.

The Chelsea to Utd transfer route is a relatively new one and there is a chance Willian will go this window. Personally I think Willian would be more successful at Utd than both Mata and Matic. I know he's getting on but he still has reasonably good energy and his passing at close quarters is both accurate and quick. On his day he also has a good free kick.

While there is a chance he could go to Utd I think Chelsea would rather sell to another league and as a Spanish speaker I think he would rather go to Spain.
