You just can see that this time don't have any attacking patterns. Long aerial passes to the wing is a pattern; crossing 80+ times in one half is a pattern; pass after pass after pass without any sort of forward momentum, was still a pattern.

This is shit on a stick football, from a coach that is happy to scrape out a win depending hugely on his defence. Why else would be go for one more CB? He can moan all he want. I'm not looking forward to this season in any way.

Hope we’re not daft enough to send him on loan again, like the look of Fred too, nice to have a couple of proper technical footballers in the middle at last.
Fred looks classy with the ball at his feet, it's just the defensive side of his game that concerns me somewhat. Still, I've seen far worse as debuts go.

I the combination or Pereira, Pogba and Fred shows a lot of potential.

Happy with that first half, Midfield will take time to gel but very encouraged with all three, especially Pereira.

You clearly don’t really understand counter attacking football.
Can you explain it through your eyes, because although I don’t agree with the being outplayed we haven’t exactly taken the match by storm or counter attacked at all well so far.

Gotta keep the ball better. It's not the midfield three because they're all technically better on the ball than Leicester's counterparts. It's not the CB's since there's no way that Leicester have better ball-playing defenders in general, aside from Maguire. We're obviously instructed to sit deep. It has to be. It happens far too often for it to be anything else. The issue is we've just not found any fluidity in counter attacking. The front three aren't quite sure what their respective places are in the offensive transition and they just end up isolated from one another. We'll see what happens once we have one or both of Martial or Lukaku on.

Exactly, mate. Is he still clinging on Perisic to come here?
No idea. Look at the pittance Barca signed Malcom for this season, that is a punt we absolutely should take, he could hardly be any worse than Mata.

Perreira and Pogba look good, Fred looks promising but needs to adapt to the speed of the PL.
Horrible going forward, our front 3 are non existent.
We really should have signed a RW.
    Darmian is already in Italy.

1st game of the season , some are clearly rusty, we are doing better than I thought we would , what did you want 5-0 up before half time.
What do you want Jose to do ?
I just hoped we'd be a bit more proactive without the ball - it's not rustiness. Frustrating to watch, because it's what we've all watched for 24 months.

I’d sub Mata for Lukaku, switch Marcus out right for the pace and let Rom go up against the centre halves. Think we could really put on some goals if we have more pace on the counter.

Ps) Bailly is a brick wall. Solid AF.

Perriera? He’s been completely anonymous as far as I can tell and contributed nothing to our play. Other than doing stupid drag backs and passing the ball sideways.

Schmeichel moaning about our performance on my telly. Far too negative. United soaked up Leicester’s pressure well and then took control later on despite being sloppy. Has been alright so far overall.
I think the problem is with having to soak up the pressure of Leicester City at home at all. To Schmeichel the idea of soaking up Leicester pressure at OT would have been laughable.

What is shocking is the way we play, being completely overplayed by a fairly average Leicester team.
We're not pressing when Leicester have the ball, which creates the illusion that they are dominating. But it is all part of the gameplan. United's tactic is to catch them on the counter. Not very exciting, but very much expected in a Jose Mourinho team.

    Half time review

Boring first half. We look energetic in the first and final 10 mins but in between was plain shite.

Positive : Fred really look the part. I like his energy and he was everywhere on the pitch. Pereira was tidy on the ball and Bailly/Lindelöf kept Leicester at bay.

Negative: Apart from scoring the pen, Pogba didn't do much, Sanchez still look like last season mess and if the FA Cup final still haven't prove Rashford isn't good enough to play as a CF, today he showed why. Don't get me started on Darmian

I better hope Lukaku comes on and add presence to our attack.
He's definitely good enough, not as a target man through.

Side note - trying to type on this forum with an Android phone is more unbearable than Mourinho's tactics. Literally the only place on the entire Internet where this happens.

There was only one counter attacking chance, which Rashford spoilt by not passing when he should have. And out only actual chance was the long ranger shot from Pogba.

Select the best team bar Lukaku and then question why we don't have the possession, we need Lukaku. This team is alright, will see improvements as the season goes on. I'm happy we had more shots on target. I'm sorry if people think we 'll be good with Rashford. Being the best in United's academy doesn't make you a world beater. We need Tony Martial, him and Lukaku back will do wonders for this team.

yeah I don't understand football as a former pro, you are clueless if you think this is a good display from us at home against average leicester side, feckign coach potato will tell me anything about football. 1:0 up is perhaps the only positivity from the first half, against a promising but hardly flawless performance form Fred and very good Bailly at the back.

BTW form your counter attacking we created exactly zero chances
Step aside peasants Inzaghi (by user name) coming through.

He is playing his first game as a #6 for us, what do you expect him to do?

This is the difference between us and the best. We take a lead and play to hold it, hoping to get another.

The best teams take a lead and keep pushing until they get 3, 4 or more. Happy with the result so far but want more fight and attacking from the team

I find it unbelievable how people have said they enjoyed that, that was terrible . Leicester have bullied us at home, played sharper football and do look a lot fitter (i know we heard all the excuses but it isnonly pogba and perhaos rashford who are not match fit). The amount we lost the ball was amature and lack of chances still concerns me.

Despite that, it is still 1 0 and i expect the same brand of football in second half. We will soak the pressure up, hoof the ball forward, hope we catch them off guard and I predict we will win 2 0. Its not pretty, it never will be but I'm just hoping game by game we rack up the points and I am confident we will do enough to finish in the top 4.

Rashford can play as a 9 if he is not used as a target man
