I think Jose and the lads should take some time to apologise to a certain precious section on here for having the temerity to go out and win last night. Thoroughly bad show and not part of the script.
I think a lot "fans" on here would love to see us lose matches and Jose sacked. They want a new toy.
Yesterday's win, has ruined the weekends of some.

Mate - Cause Sanchez was quite poor yesterday. I know Martial wants to leave and believe me I’m not one of those Martial lovers who think he can do no wrong. But if Martial can be given some playing time and earn his spot back, why not? Sanchez has been a dud and was infuriating in terms of his give aways last night.
Was Sanchez quite poor or are there a whole bunch of people on here with an agenda?
Sure, let Martial earn his start back. He can start that by committing to the club and firing his agent.

People moan because they care about the club. I doubt anyone would have liked to see Utd lose, just to have a reason to moan.

Great work rate but his short passing game was atrocious. We had a few promising attacking opportunities which were lost because of that. He had a few beautiful changes of play with long driven passes across the field.

All of the short term passing was bad, people's timing was off because they haven't been playing together.

True. A lot of passes were underhit or inaccurate by several players. I was happy with the overall performance and the win of course. First half we sat too deep but I thought we did really well when we pressed a little more in the second half.

A winning start is what we needed. It will take time for the team to be playing their best football but some good individual performances. People expect 4-0 wins every game. It doesn't happen!

I don’t reject the fact that there are people who back Martial blindly. We have all seen that guy has crazy talent. If he is here at least until Jan, he should knuckle down, earn his place back or bump up his transfer value. Either way he has to play hard to advance his own agenda. And Sanchez was very poor yesterday.

We are all going about Sanchez being poor as well as Darmian, but at least both were trying, even if some of their decision making was poor. My biggest concern from the game has to be Rashford who was anonymous most of the time on the pitch. He seems to be a shadow of the player of a couple of years ago.

we played like the away team.

De Gea should have been Motm.

The only positive was we got 3 points.

If we grind out 9 points in the next 3 matches before the International break and Mourinho Suddenly has a born again experience about playing attacking football like Manchester United used to, then we have a decent chance for the title.

This was the back four I wanted to see. I know lets of people here don't rate Lindelof or Darmian but I think given a chance and a run in the team they can do well. At least we had four people playing in the positions they were bought to play in. Yes, Darmian looked shaky early on but he grew into it and we saw less and less of Gray. Bailly was magnificent and Lindelof, although making a couple of mistakes, read situations early most of the time and prevented breaks. This pairing is far better than Smalling and Jones and again given a run, Shaw can show why he was talked so much about a few years back. The disappointments for me were Rashford who seems to have forgotten how to finish one-on-ones, and Sanchez, whose close passing was very poor. Game one, and already DDG has saved us two points...

De Gea made a single top save the entire match (didn't Leicester had only 4 shots on target?) and switched of for the goal. He had little to do, so him being MotM or Leicester being the better team is a bit off.

watch the match again.
He's right.

Leicester performance is extremely overrated here. They had only good chance the entire game. Dave made only one good save. The rest was just useless domination of possession.

Hess really limited and will never be top class. He's just a fast decent finisher, nothing more. Genuinely see him as the new Welbeck, personally.

Welbeck has a lot of attributes but I don't think even his biggest fans would call him a decent finisher.

Our right side needs addressing so badly. Mata and Darmian just got ghosted repeatedly by Leicester players. It made their attack look as lopsided as ours purely by it being so easy for them to move down that side of the field. Valencia being back and switching Sanchez to the right could add some competence at the back and pure harrassment further up the field from Sanchez and not allow teams such an easy in.

Midfield looks potentially great with Fred and Pereira's potential to grow into the team, Pogba at times looked imperious too. I do think for big games we will need Matic for some more reliable defensive cover though as Leicester had it too easy going through the middle for large parts of the game.

Offensively we were woeful in the final third. A lot of this was Sanchez repeatedly finding himself in great positions to open up Leicester and then fluffing it completely. Rashford was pretty inneffective and Mata a bystander for the majority of the game. Mourinho needs to move Sanchez out right so he can stretch teams, right now our completely left side approach means we are allowing defenses to set up heavily one sided and lack the quality and intricacy to break that down. There were flashes of us playing in tight spaces better, but I still believe that we have to stretch teams. My bet is a little more space and time and our attacks will come off more consistently.

Defensively we looked okay bar Darmian. Bailly was utterly immense and Lindelof looked composed too. Shaw was his usual self and offered more going forward than in defense but looked reasonable and obviously scored the winner.

Overall there's some things to be hopeful for but still some things that really need work or personnel changes from last night's line up.

The bullsh*t starts already! De Gea made ONE top save, and should have done more with the goal. His distribution was also poor. Just like last season it appears that everyone wants to pretend Dave is MOTM every week when thats so far from the reality.

Sanchez always plays on the edge. His entire MO is to make high risk, high reward passes.

Yesterday, they didn't come off too often. But he almost always had the right idea. With a tiny bit more luck, he could have come out of the match with a few assists.

The important thing is that he asked the right questions and went out of his way to make things happen. I'd much rather that, than a passive performance with 100% pass completetion. It's no coincidence that everything good went through him.

Not a great performance overall, but that was an example of the character that Mourinho would like to see from Martial. I hope he's learning.

I'm quietly encouraged for the season.

Even possession was hardly that much in their favor. 54%. Which is still more than us, but hardly that much.

If roles were swapped, we would have said 'did Jose become Van Gaal', instead of praising our performance.

Only watched the highlights but just happy for the win; any other result and the vibe would have been horrible after a not great transfer window. Pogba and Shaw(!!) on the scoresheet, Fred and Pereira doing well in the middle - cannot complain!

Our squad is capable of putting out a great first XI that can challenge if the right players step up.

3/3 points, can't complain. Fred looked good, Pereira looked good, Pog turned up. Shaw scored...

Conceding the late goal really annoyed me because they hadn't done all that much. Martial should get his LW spot back and push Sanchez to the RW

Don't think Sanchez is suited to our style at all. Having to pick up possession on our half way line wasn't his Arsenal game. Much better in and around the box and for us thats always in fleeting moments over 90mins. We need a winger who runs in behind and eats up the ground......dare I say Martial when he is on his game which is also very fleeting. He offers more work rate over Martial and others and thats why he'll get the nod.

There’s too much moaning here. Sanchez and Rashford were disappointing and Darmian was par for Darmian, but we saw excellent play from our midfielders and defenders.

The win was deserved. Onward.

A lot of the game is about keeping possession and making the right pass at the right time. Those things carry over to any team in any league. If he had played the through ball for Rashford and picked out a right pass for Mata when they were 2 on 1, you could argue he had a really good game despite losing possession so often. Creative players lose the ball but they do so while trying to create, he was losing the ball in situations where we were building up the attack or trying to keep the lead and couldn't make the right pass in the final third. That is an extremely poor performance regardless of style or team.

Exactly this.

A more positive take is that we didn't start with Matic, Lukaku and Valencia, who will all be key regulars when up to speed/fit, and we've fairly comfortably, without getting out of first gear taken a win.

Yes Sanchez needs to improve, and yes, the Bailly-Lindelöf partnership doesn't look the strongest, but it is only one game in.

I really hope Jose tries Sanchez on the right and lets him and Lukaku to swap around during games. Place Martial on the left and with finally competent midfield behind them in Pogba, Fred, Matic we might finally see some good football not to forget Dalot/Valencia instead on Darmian is going to make a hell of the impact on our right flank.

He should definitely have had one for the Lukaku chance, That was an absolute on the plate job.
