 Mourinho hammering the press. He's right though, today was a much better performance than 0-3. If we play like we did today the remaining 35 games we'll have a decent season.

Much much better than against Brighton. Although I guess that says something about our current state of affairs

This is identical to what happened to Jose at Chelsea. The players just dont want to play for him anymore and can you blame them?

Chelsea wasted a season that year, replaced him and won it the next year. Why waste anymore time on him, sack him now, bring in Zizu, pay him what he wants and maybe just maybe start unlocking the potential of these top players. We might even still be able to launch a title challenge
These top players !!
What top players ?

Pogba a disgrace can’t wait to see the back of him

Sanchez. Doesn’t give a damn about the club biggest mistake we have ever made

Lukaku flat track bully the honeymoon is over never a Manchester United CF

Martial has never looked interested sporadically good then awful

Rashford desperately over rated

Lingard would be squad player at best in any top 4 team

We are running on empty 3 of back 4 again tonight ( plus degea ) played under fergie

I'd love to have a war (siege mentality), though I want Woodward to give Jose what he needs.
Woodward said no to Perisic (and we saw what he could do in the WC). Today, we saw how bad our CBs are, while at the same time witnessed how good Toby A (who Jose wanted desperately).
Our DoF is over-ruling Jose and it's preventing us from improving.
I agree.

Perisic and Alderweireld would have given us so much and by the sounds of it both were very gettable.

I think the point he makes is valid. Your number 9 took his one chance, ours missed it. That changed the game.

0-3 flatters you. Could of quite easily been 3-0 United by half time. Anyway well done on the win!
Thanks mate. You played well in the first half and we struggled but as soon as we scored that first goal we went up a gear and Utd did the opposite. Still think you will be top 5.

Hey guys, is it possible at all that maybe we can convince Sir Alex to come out of retirement to manage this season? Like heyneckes did for bayern? You know, to steady the ship somewhat before looking at other alternatives next summer. Of course, only if jose is sacked.
You do know the man was in a serious condition recently? And you want him to put his health at risk because we can't run a piss-up in a brewery?

Why don't we just spend all out money on cloning him instead of buying new players while we're at it?

He isn't going anywhere this season. Would be madness to sack him this early with no viable option to replace him with.
I'm his biggest supporter but we're delaying the inevitable with this. You can see the meltdown signs from his pressers already. Mourinho can't deal with pressure and it will only become worse from now on.

He should leave on mutual consent and let Carrick manage the team till we hire a diector and let him choose the next manager.

We aren't finishing top 4 this season anyway. The seaaon is done and dusted.

Lingard is a good player and was good tonight for the majority.

Spot on about the defence though. It's basically what Fergie left.. people need to get on to that. We NEEDED to sort it over the summer. Criminal the club didn't when it seems Mourinho wanted to.

You didn't go up a gear at all, you got a very quick second and then the normal pattern of the game resumed

Well a game of football is only two halves so at worst then you feel we were as good as you then?
You were slightly better than us in first half and we were much better than you in the second half. Overall we were the better team and deserved the win.

Spurs took their chances, United didn't.

If Lukaku had scored that chance, I'm fairly sure we wouldn't have lost that game.

Not this…United were terrific in the 1st half but you’ve got to take your chances when you’re on top. We didn’t unfortunately. Second half was more even tho

There was a lot of hustle and bustle in the first 30 minutes which was a change of pace from our usual stuff, but we still had no attacking cohesion, the best chance we got in that period was gifted to us via a brainfart from Rose, the only other really decent chance was Shaw's cutback to Lukaku who didn't get a good contact on the shot.

In the second half we were just like a dog chasing his tail as Spurs grew into the game and won it pretty comfortably in the end.

Not sure how anybody who saw the game could say that was crap but ok.
People are rightfully going to be a little touchy under the circumstances. Losing 3-0 at home to the spuds don't happen very often. Never in fact.

Obertan, Bebe, Buttner, etc.

Managers buy flops all the time, thing is Fergie had a world class 11 to rely on if things went sour with transfers.
Ferguson took a punt on players that cost peanuts. All the players you mentioned cost less than £10m and barely played. Maybe Veron was his only major mistake.

Bailly and Lindelof cost £30m which at the time of purchase was relatively high for a CB.

Bailly has fitness issues and has terrible positioning. Lindelof is clearly out of his depth. We played Ajax in the Europa League final where Sanchez had a very good game. That summer we sign Lindelof whilst Spurs buy Sanchez for less. That is where the problem lies, we keep targeting the wrong players.

Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
I was very angry after the Brighton match.
Tonight I was happy with how the team was set up.

We had a damn good chance straight away.

Several players clearly showed the lack of a pre-season.
Lukaku, Matic, Lindgard.

Jones was diabolical. I've finally lost any hope for him.

Shaw was our best player.Fred not too far behind.

I felt sorry for Mourinho at the end and credit to our supporters applauding him. He looked stricken.

We have lost 2 matches. But we have lots of football to play.

I believe Mourinho will come back.

For the sake of the club I hope I am right.

The two quick goals did it. Our team is mentally fragile at the moment (not really surprising with the media circus and the result at Brighton but you can see why Jose wanted a decent CB/leader in the summer). You could see their heads drop and didn't really look like getting back in it. Two key moments from a United perspective were the Lukaku misses - first half, then straight after Kanes goal. I think if either go in we win the game. Third third goal was inevitable when we didn't get it back to 1-2 as we were pressing high. Kind of accept that to a degree.

You stuck with us though, rode out what we had and were good value. Well done and enjoy it.

What's your thoughts with United as a Spurs fan? What kind of set up and team would you go for and what do you make of what's been going on. Interested to know.

Manchester United - Tottenham
Shots attempted: 23 - 9
Shots on target: 5 - 5
Shots off target: 12 - 2
Blocked shots: 6 - 2

Best game of the season if you look away from the scoreline.
I don't think we played that badly. We just missed that incisive pass in the final third and coupled with some brain farts at the other end, the match ended the way it dead. Also doesn't help that Lukaku missed some sure fire chances.

Pogba was good today but again, he tries to do too much when he has 2 or 3 players on him. There was a moment in the first half when he had 2 players on him and instead of making a simple pass to the nearby defender, he tried to shield the ball and gave away a corner in our half.

Luke shaw was very positive today. Crossing is still not on point, but left back looks like the least of our problems right now.

I don't know why it's so hard to bin jones. smalling should be a substitute. Axel should have been kept as a squad option. Just give bailly and lindelof some time to settle. chopping and changing the cb pairing is not going to do any player any good.

Fred looked tired at around the 75th minute mark. put in a good shift today.

sanchez was decent, but is not being a difference maker currently. Still not bad either.

Valencia, solid. Nothing spectacular.

De gea. If there was any player who should be breaking shit in the dressing room right now, it's him.

lingard was buzzing around. not enough end product though.

Herrera was completely out of position for the second goal. And I hate the habit that all our players have of raising their hands for offside when the ball is still in play. Play till the whistle is blown, men.

The performance was an improvement over the last game. Over to the Burnley game.

I get it. I'm in Dreamland as a Spurs fan because of how big a result it still is for us to win at old Trafford. Utd will come good again I'm sure and will be up there at the end of the season as per usual.

Had that thought against Brighton last weekend.
That's what happens at the top level. You don't score, you will get punished later.

We kept pushing and our defensive shape was missing for a brief period and Tottenham pounced on that effectively. We should score early goals and sit back if we want to win these kind of games..

But to be honest, the performance was encouraging to say the least.

That second goal, the more i watch it, the worse it gets. Everybody just doing his own thing, zero communication, zero coherence...wow. This team is coached by Mourinho?:houllier:
As per what Jose said (one can believe or not), the team did pretty well in training all week. Even in defense. He doesn't have a reason or solution to combined mind feck as of now.

I'm not sure what's worse, United losing 3-0 at home to Spurs or one of their fans trying to comfort me.

I have alcohol readily available, that generally does the trick ;)

You have some fantastic attacking talents in the squad but seem reluctant to use them. I'd want to see Martial, Rashford, etc playing regularly and with more freedom if I was a Utd fan. Must be incredibly frustrating to have such a defensive coach.

Well that was interesting...

We lost embarrassingly. Yet I'm still happier with that game than I was the Sevilla game last season. We actually took the game to Spurs and barring our inability to actually hit the back of the net completely bossed it for lots of the game. We looked like we had a plan and some fight in us. Shades of the Brighton game with the double goal quick implosion, yet at the same time we played so much better and with more passion.

I'm not in the mourinho out crowd but I could see him resigning now, he's between a rock and a hard place. Park the bus and we can't finish teams off, play on the front foot and we can't finish teams off. Then stupidity by the players defensively and we have these capitulations.

If we play the rest of the season the way we did the first 45 minutes I'd be ecstatic. We were great to watch, snapping at Spurs heels and playing nice football too. If we play like the second half though and we'll be tenth by Christmas and managerless.

Going forward the club needs a real plan, but that's a whole other topic that's been discussed ad nauseum.

I just hope Jose sees the first half and sticks with what he tried, with a few tweaks and more time to implement there's potential there. However I feel that after tonight's hiding he'll revert to form and it'd be easy to understand why.

On a final note. Luke Shaw was fantastic, if he continues this form we won't need a left back, leaving more funds for whatever rebuild or patching up job we do in the summer.

Spurs won it from a good set piece. Otherwise it was a fairly even game in which we had the upper hand until we had to leave more space at the back.

2-0 was unlucky. 3-0 doesn't describe the game.

Hope we can see past the scoreline and not overreact to what's still a disappointing loss, but a massive improvement on the Brighton game.
This. Except for the 2-0 which was more a product of Herrera's shit defending rather than being unlucky (though in his defence he's never played in that position before).

In the first half, we won the 50/50 situations, we made runs, created chances and looked like we wanted to win, which was refreshing to say the least after the Leicester and Brighton games. I know that's sad in a way as that should be a given for every game, but that's just how low my expectations for this team have sunk.. and I also don't want to give up the season with 50+ games still left to play. :wenger: If we can at least show the same attitude in every game like we did in the first 45min tonight, I will have some hope that we can savour something out of this season.

Strangest 3-0 defeat I’ve ever seen. I’m not going to read through all the crying on here but I thought we played well and were badly let down by individual mistakes. Hard to blame Mourinho for that and I felt for him.
As pointed out on MNF surely this makes it more concerning, yes we seemed to be playing well, a lot of energy, and at least an attempt at entertaining, yet we lost by three.

The fact many were so pleased with how we pressed and attacked at times, was surely because it's been so long since we have seen anything resesmbling this, so Jose was trying something he doesn't do very often, and this just isn't him, he sets teams up and grinds results out, tonight was just odd from a usual Jose game.

He's well out of his comfort zone now, if he goes back to setting up a strong defence, our attack will look horrible, if he goes on the attack our defense will continue to make individual mistakes, it's a mess, and I can't see a way out now.

Luke Shaw was brilliant Fred was good everybody else was shit. I dont blame Mourinho i blame slaphead for lack of transfers.
That doesn't hold up. We need to spend more $$$ on players? Who on our squad wouldn't start at their position for Brighton, who we lost to. Sevilla had lesser talent...we played like crap. The lowest teams in the premiere league last year beat United at least once. EACH.

Stopping trying to fix the problem by spending when we're already spending. Spending helps you compete but good coaching helps you win.

I think every United fan wants to see flying wingers but if truth be told Martial and Rashford have been poor. I know some fans blame Jose and the coaching staff for this I feel the pair really need to step up.

On paper our side is great (bar the CBs) but in theory there's too many forwards not in form for whatever reason. Martial, Lukaku, Rashford and Sanchez are a great versatile bunch but we can't get one of them firing let alone develop a meaningful partnership. It's frustrating.
