I think disrespecting the club is speaking badly about the club, fans, etc. Not an individual.
With due respect then I think you're seeing this in a very simplistic way. And he isn't only taking about an individual is he? Posting a video of him arsing about during a United game isn't directly at an individual is it? Speaking in an ambiguous way about being seen in a Barcelona shirt (whatever the context) is not directly at individual? Giving any club that's due to play at United an extra boost by openly criticising the manager and thereby showing discontent within the dressing room doesn't only affect Mourinho does it?

With regards to what happened with Pogba under Fergie, it wasn't on my radar, maybe he did disrespect the club back then, I don't know. But I didn't think we were talking about back then. If anything it seems you are the one who hates someone.
It wasn't on your radar? Were you not a United fan in 2012?

I thought he left because
A) Rafael was played at CM
B) Pogba had the offer to move but wanted to play for United - but was told to wait more than he thought he deserved to

What was he so disrespectful about? If he was back then - I doubt he would come back so high hoped as he would hate a club he disrespected like heinze, tevez etc. Neither do I think the fans would be so happy when he arrived & atleast he would have some fans that were reluctant to support him due to his actions - none of that happened in my memory.

He made the right & superior choice of going to Juventus at that time with regards to what happened to him at United and what Juventus were doing at the time.

Do I think you are hugely influenced by your blind hatred for Mourinho. Yes.

Just try and take Mourinho out of it for a moment (I know you'll find that hard). The club appoint the manager - only a couple of days ago Woodward spoke about backing the manager with more funds for transfers - and you have a subordinate player openly criticising the manager, as well as making ambiguous comments about playing elsewhere. Manchester United are paying his fecking wages and he's doing everything he can to destabilise the club...(most likely because he wants a move), and that is not disrespectful to the club? Unbelievable.

Funnily enough Fergie described Pogba as showing no respect for the club back in 2012, but even with the knowledge that he's done it once before and has now done a string of other stuff, all of a sudden his disrespect is only for Mourinho? You are joking.
Accuses someone of blind hatred of Jose. Brings up Pogba leaving the club 6 years ago as example of disrespecting the club..

Someone is blinded by hatred in this thread alright.

Really though? Plenty of examples of Managers going into a new club and changing their fortunes quickly. We also have no way of knowing that Jose will win trophies next season. You could argue that with Chelsea and Arsenal improving it's going to be even more difficult for us to win trophies. When you look at our forwards goal scoring in 2018 PL it makes grim reading. For all of those players to be doing so badly can't be a coincidence surely? They're not all that bad, so why are they all struggling (except Lukaku) to score goals?

In 23 PL Games:
Lukaku - 10 goals
Martial - 3 goals
Rashford - 3 goals
Sanchez - 2 goals
Lingard - 2 goals
Mata - 0 goals
You are supposing that a new manager will come in and immediatley hit the ground runing, Given the fact that only Jose has come remotely close to doing this, I would not bet on this. This is unllikely. For reasons beyond all of us, when a new manager at MUFC is appointed, he gradually gets bogged down and goes ultra defensive. I would assume that the next manager will also suffer in the same way.

Regarding CFC, next year, they are likely to decline. It's how it work at CFC. Absolutely bizarre - manager comes in and everything is bright and sunny. They win the title, then the following year it completely falls apart.

Our goals:
Lukaku - 10 goals - This guy needs multiple , clear cut chances to score. The open header in one of our last games was infuriating to watch. He headed out over the bar. There was also a 1v1 chance which he fluffed.
Martial - 3 goals - he hardly gets to play these days, which is down to Jose.
Rashford - 3 goals - he is young and given that Lukaku is a better player than him and we need goals, Rashford rightfully comes off the bench.
Sanchez - 2 goals - this will remain the greatest mystery in football. A Galactico class attacker, who can't score goals.
Lingard - 2 goals - he went through a purple patch - Messi Lingod - but he has now gone back to his true level. The guy doesn't score many goals and should only be a bench option in the last 20 minutes.
Mata - 0 goals - I have no idea what is going on with Mata. I think he is a better player than what we see, but he doesn't score many goals.

Of those, I'd say Martial is the one which Jose is culpable for. The other players are getting game time, but just aren't good enough to play for a top club, where demands are high. Had Ruud Van Nistlerooy been in this team, we'd have beaten probably all the teams we played this season, but Lukaku can't stop missing chances and we are losing/drawing, as a result.

Here's what Fergie said at the time: “Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we’re aware,” Ferguson told MUTV. “It’s a bit disappointing because I don’t think he showed us any respect at all. To be honest, if they carry on that way, I’m quite happy that he’s away, from me, anyway.”

I accept all the criticisms made against Mourinho, he isn't what he once was and he's trashing our reputation. However, I also feel that sacking him would cause further damage because that would establish a regime of player power in our club and that's a one way street to even bigger problems.
IMO, keep Jose in place, move the dessenters out (even if we lose money on them), bring in players who are hungry to play for us (plenty grew up supporting us) and re-establish proper order here in the heavens. Bring in a director of football in the summer and line-up a replacement for Mourinho for the following summer. Job done.

Oh, and keep Carrick involved for consistency between the manager change-over.

What are you on about? I gave plenty of examples of him being disrespectful to the club here and now in 2018 - I also pointed out that he'd disrespected the club (according to our greatest ever manager) last time he was here too. Care to explain why that is a problem for you?

Seriously I already gave my opinion on that, its a non story to me, I don't care about players social media, especially as again he said nothing bad about the club.
I know some people really care about things like that, I am not one of them. A group of players not in the match day squad had a laugh before or during the game, do I think that is disrespecting the club, no.

No I thought we were discussing his time at the club since we signed him back under the current regime. Not something that happened in 2012 when he wasn't even playing for the first team.
I don't pretend to know what went on, I do see that he likely had valid reasons to want to leave (playing time), and maybe as well he also went for the money. I don't presume to know his reasons. I also don't remember him saying anything disrespectful about the club during the time.

Isn't it funny the horrible publicity Chelsea got towards the end of Mourinho's tenure and the horrible publicity we are now getting. I wonder what the common denominator is. Honestly, no other club is getting anywhere near the amount of shite in the media as we are and it's all self inflicted. The ABU media rhetoric just doesn't fly with me.

If I were an oppo fan I would find all of this utterly hilarious to be completely honest. Remember we had the KRAP (Keep Rodgers At Pool) joke? I would say any oppo fan is absolutely dying for Mourinho to stay as long as possible.
opposition fans are the best judge. If Mourinho was doing his job they would hate him and want him to leave. Instead they are laughing at us and want him to stay. If that doesn't prove he's out of his depth nothing will.

And he might say, no thanks. I will not join the circus.
The United job is a great one for Zidane though. A lot of people downplay the success he had in Madrid, so this would be an opportunity to show that he's the real deal. Winning the CL 3 times in a row is a brilliant achievement irrespective of how good their squad was. It's such a hard competition to win, Pep had prime Xavi-Iniesta-Messi and "only" won it twice in four years. Zidane would instantly command the respect of the dressing room due to his pedigree as a player and his recent track record of managerial success.

Pochettino would be good too but he should have just as many question marks as Zidane imo. It's easy being the plucky underdog at Spurs where no one expects you to win, but could he handle the pressure at United? We've already seen him react badly to some perceived negative questioning from the press, imagine if he faced a fraction of what Jose does every week. He also has a lot of doting young players at Spurs who never step out of line, but could he handle a dressing room full of egos like Pogba, Martial and Alexis whose agents will be in the press every week if they're unhappy with their treatment? Finishing in the top 3 for three seasons in a row is impressive to us but how much weight would that hold with guys who have won the World Cup, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A etc?

If the club wanted to go for a left-field choice, Ralph Hasenhüttl might be an interesting one to consider. Could be our Klopp.

"That is not the end of the world. I sit in this chair twice in the Champions League and I knock Man United out at home at Old Trafford," he told reporters.

"I sit in this chair with Porto, Man United out, I sit in this chair with Real Madrid, Man United out. So is not something new for the club and of course being Manchester United manager and losing a Champions League tie at home is a disappointment, obviously."
Are you fecking serious? You're pointing to that and call it disrespect to the club? Do you know why he said what he said? The suggestion from the media was that he did something absolutely unheard of at Sevilla and no manager would have done it.

He reminded people that United can suffer freak performances and freak results. SAF himself did against Porto.

But no let's sack him because he pointed out a bad memory. He literally said he's a big manager and can knock big teams out so don't jump on his back for one bad fixture.

"The other day my son who lives in London went to Paris and not to Manchester to watch the match," Mourinho said. "At the moment in Paris there is something special. Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic."
He didn't say he wanted to manage PSG in the future. He just told a French Reporter for a French newspaper that there is magic in Paris and he wanted his son to experience it.

Oh my god let's kill the guy for publicly saying Paris was a better climate to watch the football than Manchester at the time. feck me you guys are a bunch of sensitive sods.

:lol: the thing is the quotes are endless there's so many
And none of them are that fecking bad. You're all just upset because he's not saying Man Utd is mecca.

"I hope you enjoy the game more than some of you did against Tottenham”.

Then later on in the season.

“It's not Portsmouth. I remember Portsmouth - such a small stadium, the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. In here, the atmosphere is a bit quiet and there is not very (much enthusiasm)”.

But he waved a scarf about after getting a battering, so it’s all good. He knows he needs the fans on side when the pressure is on like this. Utterly transparent.
He's also praised the fans shit loads. Do you want to look at that or do you want to cherry pick?

Klopp criticised Liverpool fans at Annfield in his post match when they lost to Palace.

It's common for some managers to try and get the fans united in support and call them out of they don't show enough passion. Get over it. The match going fans certainly have, they sing his name every game even when we are chasing. It doesn't look like they've feel disrespected. Because they fecking haven't.

"He was in front of me and I was making every decision for him,"
"He has to change his football brain, he cannot play with my brain."

Bit of a stupid thing to post considering Shaw has credit Mourinho for his turnaround and the manager himself has been full of praise.

So the best you guys have is:

Mourinho saying he preferred to take his son to watch a game in Paris once.

Mourinho saying you can hear fans in Portsmouth specifically because it's a small stadium. Whereas here it's bigger space so tougher to hear all.

Mourinho reminding the media that United have lost to a small team before so don't jump on him (common defensive tactic and very political. You'd be daft to read it as literal disrespect).

Mourinho giving Shaw tough love before praising him for turning it around.

Good one. Let's ignore the constant praise he gives to the club history, the fans and all that. Christ you're all a bunch of snowflakes. I'm out of this thread now, too toxic and limited for my liking.

Well, Mourinho bought two of them. So has he shown terrible judgement?

I'm actually lenient on him on this one. I think he bought well enough. His coaching, however, has been diabolical. Getting the best of out 'ready made players' we buy, improving younger ones... We've seen nothing. Are Rashford and Martial really not talented enough to play for a club of United's stature? I'd say they certainly are. They just haven't progressed at all for two years. Why?

Good god, have you had your eyes shut for the last 2 and half years? People were on here openly declaring their hatred for him as soon as he'd joined us!

Don't get me wrong, not everyone is in that boat - I get that lots of people have just reached the point where they want to see a change but please don't pretend that there are no members of this forum who do not despise the man - lots are very open about it.

I wasn't overjoyed at the prospect of getting Mourinho even before it happened due to several reasons.

He never builds for the future as his relationships always break down.
He always seems to have the attitude that he is bigger than wherever he has been, and as much as it is a cliche it is absolutely correct that no one person is bigger than the club.

His game tactics are generally negative. At a time when we have to put up with watching positive attacking football in other teams, as much as it galls me to say but at Man City and Liverpool.

I'm not naive to believe in this attitude of "it must be done the united way" but surely we should be able to expect to beat teams of the calibration of Newcastle, West Brom, Brighton (twice) and Derby and those are just the ones to mention this year. Not to mention the weak surrender in the champions league last season.

Pogba is by no means blameless in this current situation but if you forget about that and just look at the Mourinho situation in isolation then unfortunately he needs to go so united can get back to being the best football team in the country and challenging to be the best in Europe/the world which I cannot see happening under him.

I've been a fan of Jose for many many years, I can't understand still being so blind and attached to the bloke now, I don't really get how any Utd fans could be.

I saw a bloke before kick off with a Mourinho number 1 away shirt, I presume it's that sort of fan that is still sticking up for the bloke?

I just want what's best for the club.

I'm not really sure I understand the logic of using Van Gaal or previous managers as the baseline that gauges Mourinho's success. Surely the baseline should be the other clubs we're competing with? It's fine to indicate our record and certain key statistics were better than they were under either Van Gaal or Moyes, but we've fallen further behind the top club (City at this point in time) and you could easily make the case we've been surpassed by Liverpool and Chelsea.

It's fine to say that Mourinho has been more successful than Van Gaal, but it's difficult to cling onto that notion as the reason to continue having faith when we don't appear to be making any real ground on our actual competition. Our expectation for our manager shouldn't be reduced to "better than the last bloke."
Fair enough, but if you want to do better than Liverpool say, (bear in mind that we finished higher in the league last season than both LFC and CFC), then Woodward has to open the purse strings. LFC spent big money this Summer and we didn't. You can't expect to hang on to LFC, while this is happening. Pep spent more money than Jose on players, improving an already better squad. Again, you can't expect to hang on to MCFC. CFC are an anomaly, which I cannot explain - they down tools one season, win the title the next season.

If you are going to sack Jose, then you have to make sure that the candidate replacing him is unequivocally better than Jose. We don't want a, "Well, he did well with his other team. He didn't win anything though." type candidate. Zidane would be a shot in the dark, because he has never managed or worked with players who are so bad. If he saw how bad our CBs are, he'd tell Woodie that he wants 2 new CBs, costing £80M each. Do you think that Woodie would agree to that? At least Jose is willing to work with players of a lower calibre.

I'm convinced some people here are not Manchester United supporters and think this club is José Mourinho FC, as it is very clear they care more about him than the club itself.

I think players speaking to each other or joking with each other on the bench or in the stands is somethings that happens at every game. I don't think they are disrespecting their clubs. I think you can watch a game and also have a joke with the person next to you. I do it plenty when I go to OT, we also see it plenty on Sky when you see the bench or sometimes players in the stands.

I think nobody complained when it was live on Sky, like I said before though I do see why people complain about it, I just think its irrelevant. All three players were there watching the team play.

When he came in I thought a manager of his status and personality would be able to drive us forward with the level of control we give to managers which is why I supported him coming over so much. I did not realize how bad the fit would be. Utd is a very conservative elite club, that like to win and dominate, but with style. Jose's constant media war with other managers like Conte and his poor decision to bring the board into public inquest does not suit the conservative nature of the club and its top management. Mourinho has also had problems bringing fans to his side, as many never wanted him here as they felt his style of play was too defensive. This lack of love has made it so easy for the media to target utd and jose over the course of his three year run with us, this is why we can finish second in the league with 80plus points and 40 plus goal difference yet be highlighted as failures by the press. I agree that he should have been more careful with his signings from the start. He should have followed his usual style and never have signed Pogba in the first place. There are also other questionable transfers during his reign that I would never have expected from a manager with such a good transfer record. I think he needs to go,both for our sake and his own. Maybe move to Italy and take on the Inter job, they still love him, and would be willing to back him in a way we no longer seem willing to do. Despite wanting him to leave, I would also like his ideas to be implemented as he is not wrong with his suggestions. Signing a centre back, getting rid of Pogba and Martial, signing a right winger etc. I want these things to happen, but with a manager who has more respect, is less confrontational, and has a style more appealing to fans.

Martial - I accept. Jose is the one who has stutned his development.
Rashford - Jose needs to attain the highest league position possible and he needs to choose the best players possible, in our floundering attack. I would not be starting Rashford. If we had Ruud VN in our team, scoring 1-2 goals every match, I'd certainly put Rashford in the mix, as we could miss some shots and still win. But given that we don't have a top class finisher in the team, we need to play our best players, at all times.

Nothing to do with him wanting a move then? Why do the rest of the players seem to be able to keep their mouths shut?
Wasn't that stuff debunked about him wanting a move or you didn't get the memo? You had Mourinho himself confirming that transfer request never came from Pogba nor fat rat cnut his manager is.

Idk if you've noticed but Pogba is the player getting the most criticism after each game no matter how good or bad he plays and think we can all agree that our tumescent system implemented by our manager has something to do with that .

You're aware Mourinho was flirting with PSG last season, right?

I don't think him or Martial are. I think if Martial puts in the effort and learns to work off the ball he would be, but as of now, the only attackers we have of quality are Lukaku and Sanchez, and the latter is clearly struggling.

And none of them are that fecking bad. You're all just upset because he's not saying Man Utd is mecca.

Would you be OK if it was Moyes or LVG saying those stuff tho?

BTW Madrid is far from a small club, since it was one of the 2 clubs Mourinho was boasting he eliminated us with after the Sevilla game.

Wasn't that stuff debunked about him wanting a move or you didn't get the memo? You had Mourinho himself confirming that transfer request never came from Pogba nor fat rat cnut his manager is.
what, the stuff that came out in the Independent and other sources today about him telling Woodward he wanted to join Barca just before the start of the season has already been debunked??

He was saying he is a manager capable of big wins and big losses just like SAF was. It was his way of telling the media to relax and he knows what he's doing as he manages United.

Moyes no because he had no track record. It would just seem bizzare for him to be saying things so candidly without having a CV to warrant it. Lvg IIRC said some things about the club or the aspirations he had which disappointed sections of the fans.

And we know that to be 100% true because it's the newspapers, right?

I'm convinced some people here are not Manchester United supporters and think this club is José Mourinho FC, as it is very clear they care more about him than the club itself.
Is that aimed at me?! My first visit to Old Trafford was in 1985 and I had a season ticket for 12 years in the early 90s and 00s. But a guy from Melbourne says I care more about Mourinho that the club...:houllier:
