"Brian McClair had a different take. "Coach, players, system, shape, tactics, b******s."

From the MEN.
Give it to McClair til the end of the season.

He’s our Zidane. Miserable, Scottish, angry. Perfect.

Such a hysterical thread haha we got 81 points last season we are capable of drawing with Valencia, no need for all the faux surprise.

There is zero discussion or analysis on this forum since every poster became a daily mail parrot

Another 90 minutes of my life wasted, and I'm done with this. Refusing to watch us again until Mourinho's gone.
Don’t bother then. It’s times like this you support the side and earn those league titles. I’m fecking sick of standing in the Stretford End surrounded by people who think they are entitled to success and think they are above supporting the side on match day. By all means, moan and criticise, constructively ideally, but if you want to act like you’re above your supposed football team then jog on.

This team would've demolished Valencia, even without a manager:

De Gea
Dalot Bailly Lindelöf Shaw
Pereira
Fred Pogba
Sanchez Rashford Martial
This !(but Smalling instead of Lindelof)
That lineup is the FUTURE. Mourinho is the PAST !

Good players are far more important than tactics and shape.

Players win and lose football matches.

The shape of the team doesn't stop people from controlling the ball.
You didn't answer my question. Why bother with Mourinho then? Why do we have to pay so much for someone when you just have to buy players.

We had a midfield three for a start the entire match.
The point was they were two defensive minded players within the midfield and there to work together, a midfield two.

If you include them in the starting 11 at home against weaker opposition, you're all at sea from a perspective of the calibre this club demands.

Mata? Maybe Fred?
He could've at least tried.
Neither have set the world alight so far. Personally I'd never bring Mata on as an impact sub. He slows things down too much. Fred could be an argument but he has just been so poor.

I don't have a problem with us losing - but there's something seriously wrong with the performances. Not sure if it's lack of effort or something worse - complete brain freeze. Every time United have a match, I look forward to it, every friggin time - and every time I watch professional players resembling our local Sunday league. It's absolutely nothing to do with trophies, or even winning.

I really don't like this Matic Fellani partnership. Fellani starts pushing up when we need a goal and I would rather have someone creative than Treeman.

Wait till the Caf football experts vote. I'm sure Shaw, Pogba and Rashford will be top of the ratings.
Yes they will but they still were terrible. They are just terrible out of a bunch of even more terrible players.

That was a bit of a slog, a match lacking in quality and inspiration from both sides. Valencia had moments of menace and with a better final ball, and finishing, could have done a lot more damage than they did. A 0:0 at Old Trafford is a better result for them than for us that's for sure.

Our play was very disjointed and stop start. We had some short spells of pressure but never truly had Valencia's backs against the wall. We look a team short on confidence and with two back to back games against Juventus next up, it's crunch time in Group H.

Not a performance to think we're turning the corner, yet.
That's it fer me. I'm not gonna waste any more money or days off for that shite. The likes of jose and sanchez clearly don't give a toss.
Lukaku is just horrible and cant strolls around without a care.
Every bit as bad as the psv game under louis .

Another post match interview where he refuses to take any blame. How can this man inspire anyone?

Bad news: he’s not quitting

Good news: nobody got thrown under the bus (apart from his defence, his midfield and his attackers) no individuals though. That’s good

Whereas the rest have done so much better...

Mata has been no worse than some, and better than most. Great goal last week, and was great alongside Sanchez on the tour. Needs a run in his best position. If that doesn't work, I'll agree with you, but he never frustrates me as much as Pogba and Sanchez do.

You are joking, right ?
Maybe my expectations are really low. I fully expected the players to not even try to win today and I think that was not the case. They did try.

Aside from pogba, rashford, shaw, bailly and smalling the team was absolutely ludicrous... again, no where near enough movement, creativity, flair, risk taking and we couldn't do the simple things well enough. How can anyone be satisfied with that performance? Something is definitely not right.

I have no idea what has happened to Sanchez. The effort is still there, but the quality has disappeared, and he has really become mediocre at best. But how did that happen overnight? His decline was too sudden to understand.

A lot easier when you have Hazard, DeBruyne, Meunier, etc. feeding him the ball, but yes he needs a break.
He is definitely not at his best and is losing confidence with every miss. And as you pointed out, we do not create as many clear-cut chances so "if you snooze you lose".

Confidence is so important in football and right now, we don't have any. Not in the players, manager or tactics.

No, again, I disagree. I imagine Pogba’s average position was quite a bit deeper than Fellaini’s. Fellaini was more advanced on the right, with Pogba having to constantly drop deep on the left to get moves started.

Fellaini and Matic were absolutely not a double pivot or two holding midfielders today.
