Great tribute. Ozil was German player of the year 5 times (la), including a few times after 2014. That clown has no idea.
Cheers. I feared nobody would see it:nervous:

Özil was easily Germany's worst starter during their WC win. Got carried to the trophy.
You made a relative assesment, not an absolute. What does it mean to be the worst player in a team full of world class players? Does it mean you are bad or could it mean you are decent while all the other players managed to reach their peak form?

Ozil wasn't great in 2014, but he certainly wasn't the worst with Mustafi starting many games and Lahm having some painfully average games in midfield. I think he was in the middle pack with guys like Klose, Goetze, Howedes. 2014 was just the one occasion where everything came together, where half a dozen players managed to play at a world class level simultaneously (Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Khedira, Muller, Hummels, Boateng, Neuer).

One factor was the system change to 433, which helped the midfielders immensely in terms of sharing the work load and the defenders very much in terms of protection. The 433 meant Ozil was shifted to the left wing, which disadvantaged him severely. I know he plays LW sometimes for Arsenal, but that is on the left of a 4231 and with an offensive LB behind him. In the WC, he had Howedes behind him and also Muller on the other side, another player who likes to come inside. The middle was already congested with 3 central midfielders, plus Muller coming inside and Lahm or Klose drifting into the middle as well because they like to be involved with the build-up. Ozil's role should have been to offer width on the left, but that is just not his game because he is not a winger. In some games, Germany played with 4 CBs on the back, which meant there was no width from the fullbacks at all. That made the middle look congested and Ozil had lesser options up front to play the ball into.

So Germany just released their squad for the upcoming game against France. Surely Löw is gonna change his approach, right?

Well....

Out: Kevin Trapp, Marvin Plattenhardt (injured), Sami Khedira, Sebastian Rudy, Mario Gomez (retired), Mesut Özil (retired)

In: Thilo Kehrer, Nico Schulz, Kai Havertz, Leroy Sané, Nils Petersen

Hard to get excited about those changes. Havertz is nice but still pretty raw, Kehrer is yet another CB and Nico Schulz feels like an average player who just happens to go through a good spell.

Leroy Sané could be an impactful addition to the team, but Löw would have to figure out how to use his strengths.

I doubt there'll be lots of changes made to the starting eleven. Khedira and Özil obviously will be replaced but other than that it might end up being the same players. Maybe Schulz gets a shot at taking over Hector's place.

Leaving out Rudy is strange, and stupid as long as he didn't want to be left out to settle in at his new club.

Kinda strange how far they have fallen, this Germany generation was suppose to dominate football for a while but that's just not the case.

Low needs to go. If it will take a humiliation from France to get that done then so be it

Low would probably still be playing Lahm and Klose if they didn’t voluntarily retire from the national team.

Maybe when you achieve something as amazing as the World Cup there is too much loyalty to the players that made it happen? Germany need someone fresh in as manager.

When we said their team was not that good before WC there was a poster who almost lost his composure.. Apart from Kroos, they don’t have world class talent.

Why does the German manager keep smelling his fingers after fecking around in his pants? Checking acid levels of his bodily fluids? Is he a germaphobe or something like that? It has to be some sort of condition or he should be sectioned for this heavy duty trolling.

If Germany are losing against France and the performance is rubbish too then that will be much worse than what has happened in Russia.
Low obviously can't be sacked right now with their next match two days away but I wish the DFB have already made their decision that he will go regardless of the result. He needs to start trusting the younger players more, Sane, Sule/Tah, Brandt, Ter Stegen should be playing over the older players who are clearly not performing to their previous high levels.

The German national team is run by Ed Woodward it seems. You could see from miles off that Low was finished after the World Cup.. dreadful campaign where the football was tumescent as feck and he has no idea of how to integrate the young players and how to take the team forward. You wouldn’t expect the Germans to Ben overly sentimental but it is costing them dearly.

Get rid asap.

What are the German press saying?
Press is doing what Press can do best: either make heroes or cut off heads
Now watch the roundup of our game vs Netherlands and take a wild guess what they are doing :D

This game has shown Loews weaknesses when he is not supported by an outstanding team:
1. Loew has no clue how to build up a great defense. Trying so hard with massive CBs as LB and RB where you need the more agile players, LB and RB defending way, way too high, so the defense gets overrun when a ball is lost.
2. Loews blind faith to players of the Bayern squad makes Thomas Mueller, who did not have a good match against a good team in 2-3 years, a definite starter in the team. This means that basically 60 minutes you play 10 vs 11 and you hope that he is Raumdeuting a ball into the net somehow. Kimmich is a very, very offensive RB, Hummels is a slow (but albeit very good CB) who does not like to be counterattacked when RB and LB are in the oppenents half.
3. Loew is constantly ignoring current performances. Mueller is out of form for years now, Uth has been amazing last season, yet he did not get an invite, but now that he declined, he gets a spot, Kroos is in a very dark spot right now with Real, with him being at fault for some goals in the last few matches (he is worldclass though, no discussion), Hector is playing in the 2nd league, which means that his opponents have a much, much weaker level than Bundesliga opponents. I think bottom line it is very good that you are loyal to your players, but you cannot have 5-6 people in the team who have a lot of negative momentum going on and hope that they will turn it around in a failing national team.
4. Loew is still trying to play possession based strategy, but fails to recognize that he does not have the team for that any more. Germany is not as dominant as we have been 4 years ago. And with players like Can, Mueller, Werner and Uth, you don't want to circulate the ball forever, you want hard and fast attacks.

In my humble opinion, Loew has never been a great coach, but the results made me shut up for a long time. I think we became world champions despite Loew, he was not the cause. We had outstanding players in one generation, most of them played in Munich and so it was easy for Loew to "coach" them to work together well. Now that Munichs strength is declining, so is Loews NT.

Thomas Mueller, right winger. Say it all about Low.
He always played right wing under Löw. Truth is, Müller's shit and he's been it for quite a while. He was the worst player in the WC and would've deserved to be left out of the team completely. It is crazy that the German public criticized Özil so heavily (even before the Erdogan headlines) while completely ignoring Müller's disastrous performances just because he's a fun guy and they wish he was their son in law. And now that they can no longer deny how shit he is because the team success vanished they criticize Löw for playing him in a position he always occupied.

We need someone fresh with no bounds to the former generation who is willing to drop our veterans without any sentimentality clouding their perceptions.

That Low's "new start" has failed and it's getting worse instead of better.

What I wonder is why they are calling it a 0-3 defeat in an away game and not a 3-0 defeat. Must be a German thing.

We actually looked worse against the Germans than against France and the scoreline and story of the game flattered us, but for the Germans it may be a blessing in disguise if it leads to change.

Still, I wouldn't mind a manager so bad (according to some German fans here) for our team that he merely won a WC with the Dutch...

It's not just Low. It's the whole team who are overrated as feck. Just look at their strikers situation. They don't have a proper CF after Klose left.

Don't think the players are overrated but are simply playing in a system that doesn't suit them. Hummels and Boateng are still good defenders but they have lost pace from 2014 so they can obviously not support the high line tactic anymore. That being said, the defense looked good for most of the match, until the end of the match when Germany pushed everyone forward and they couldn't cope with the counters.

The main problem for me was the offense and the absurd lineup. Werner is easily the best striker but he was moved to a left sided role while two quality left wingers (Brandt and Sane) were on the bench. Instead of Werner we had the average Uth playing. There was no offensive support from midfield with 3 defensive midfielders in Kroos, Can and Kimmich.

It is quite simple. Drop Uth, Muller, Can, Neuer and Boateng. Bring in Sane, Brandt, Draxler, Sule and Ter Stegen.

The CF is the only position though and you could find workarounds. Sarri exemplarily never used a real striker up front. Favre isn't at Dortmund either.

I mean we are stuffed with talent in almost any position bar CF (we've got Werner there, though, and probably Arp in one or two years) and FBs (though Henrichs could still become world class there and players like Kimmich and Goretzka have everything to become brillant FBs).

I really wonder if Grindel, Bierhoff and Löw can survive another disaster. The criticism in the media is nowhere near as loud and strong as it should be.

Starting Uth yesterday should instantly end Löw's career. I mean, he talks about the young talents not being ready enough to step in, but gives fecking 27year old Uth his first start? How can he get away with that? Instead of massive criticism even shit papers like Bild just go with "the believe in Löw is dwindling". What is this?

The question is what is a disaster? Losing the way we did yesterday should be termed a disaster, losing to France with another embarrassing performance should also be one. Or will the DFB only term relegation, which we are certainly heading to, in this group to be a disaster? But I'm sure we'l qualify for the Euro's along the way so it should be all good for them and Low

what I find equally concerning is, that the players themselves sound all like mini-Löws nowadays.
Kroos, Hummels, Müller, Boateng tend to give these apologetic interviews after the games. "The result wasn't great, but we played well for 3 and a half minutes, so don't worry." Yesterday they all said, that finishing was the only problem. How deluded are these feckers. They all excuse this kind of shit over and over again and pretend that everything is fine. Its the rare occasion, where I'd wish we'd have players, who are willing to kick up a fuss and voice some opposition to this.

I couldn't watch the game, yet I am still baffled by the line-up. Fecking Mark Uth as CF? How the hell is Muller still starting over Brandt at RW? What is Ginter doing at RB, or on the team sheet, or in the squad? You have one of the best RB in the world and you put him in midfield? That's the same mistake that Low did in 2014, when he put Lahm as DM and Mustafi as RB, and it nearly cost us.

I am not too bothered by the result because I still believe there is enough talent in Germany to put out a good side. Just need to get rid of all these underachieving world cup winners first:)

Ter Stegen
Kimmich Rudiger Sule Max
Weigl
Gundogan Kroos
Brandt Werner Reus

Maybe even get rid of Kroos and you can play an expansive pressing game again. Hasenhuttl to the rescue:lol:

Imo, Sane is the most talented German player, his treatment has been poor. He should have started on the left side with Werner up top. I expect Low to try it vs France. Brandt should replace Muller.

What's most concerning is how vulnerable they look on the counter. Long before Holland scored the last two goals, they caught Germany several times on the break.
Holland weren't great but with better decisions on the break it could have been 4/5/6.

bring in the young talents, because the important competition is 2 years away and they are already good enough to beat every other team.

Löw is incapable or unwilling to use the players he has at his disposal to their strengths.

Your talents lack a killer instinct in front of the goal. That's the main problem for Germany atm.

Would Heynckes fancy a short stint to till the euros?
He's retired for good.

https://streamja.com/OkXo

Just seen that clip from Depay's 2:0. Is that Jerome Boateng at top speed? I mean what the feck?
Seems he took a light injury prior to that scene, he has left the NT in the meantime and will not be available on tuesday.

That aside, it's another of Löw's idiocies to stick to the Hummels-Boateng pairing at CB. Süle and Tah are both available, and we need their legs together with the vision of one of the other two.

Is there another big rebuilding in order or just sacking Low will do the trick?

Nah. Unfortunately it is more complicated than that. We have severe tactical issues and the line ups Löw chooses get worse with every game. After the WC he changed things that didn't need change and didn't touch the actual problems.
